That footage in the supermarket REALLY Freaked me out. I was stalked for a week by a man I delivered a pizza to an interacted with for barely 30 seconds. Scariest part of it is I NEVER would have known I was being stalked. It was my fellow employees who told me about some guy who kept calling the store and ordering pizza asking for me specifically to deliver it. Then he would ask whoever answered the store phone , (usually a 15 or 16 year old girl) for my number and address claiming he was an old highschool friend who had just moved back to Philly and wanted to surprise me with his return. when none of that worked because everyone in the store was told he spent the final two days of the week sitting in the bar across the street from my Shop. sitting right by the back door which was always open, watching me work and trying his high school friend story on anyone he watched either talk to me or just come from the store to the bar. even when he'd try his story on someone who knew what was happening and that person called him a liar he'd just keep it up. A good friend of mine Was the bartender there FRI Night and he said I'm gonna end it. he told five other guys we knew to come hang that night. when they were all there and knew what was up, my friend gave the stalker a shot on the house and did one himself. Then he said if you don't stop this shit and disappear look down the bar and tell me what you think will happen. he looked down and all the guys were looking him right in the eyes. lol that was it far as I know. like I said . interacted with this man for 30 seconds while he paid his bill. if not for all the employees telling me what he was doing I never would have had a clue until he already had my address and number

It's absolutely shameful how many of these cases are marred by the absolute incompetence of the police, especially the hostage situation where the idiot chief told officers to stay away until he got there & then SWAT had to turn around & go back because they forgot their vests? What sort of useless idiot is running a SWAT team that can't remember basic equipment when they get called out? Madeline, watch it again. There was no proof, that's what narrator said the prosecution said to use as motive. The murder was notorious for committing crimes of sexual assault.. This one could have almost been titled ‘Devastating Police Fuck Ups’-not cross checking the time on a receipt (literally the only thing that would make it an alibi), opting to protect a bank from possibly being swindled over helping a possibly kidnapped family (only to finally show up with an entire SWAT team who somehow all left their bulletproof vests back at whatever camouflage colored Mickey Mouse Club House they operate out of), and doing nothing when a woman reports her attempted murder, so she ends up (wait for it) MURDERED.

I’ve been stalked before and learned a habit that has probably kept me out of being stalked again. When I get out of the store I don’t drive straight home, I drive around and take a few extra turns just to make sure nobody is following me. People can call me paranoid but the best way to see if someone is following you is to take four consecutive left turns, if the car or person is still there, they’re likely stalking you.

Story 3 was a lot worse than many people know, not only were the daughters and the mother being s***ually abused by one of them. That was all going on, while the police were outside trying to decide weather or not they were going to escape from a certain door and weather they were a threat or not. All of that decision making, took the worse part of half an hour and they did not consider the fact that there was a family inside that home that had just experienced the worse thing possible anyone could ever face in their lives. Right?! This "summary" is a mockery. To this day, that story is the WORSE I have ever heard. I remember being absolutely gutted and distraught after hearing the full tale. For anyone interested, look further into it. The backstory of the perpetrators and the horrific atrocities that family endured while the police grossly failed them is something you will never forget. As soon as I seen their faces, I said burn in hell. I'll never forget the journal entries by Josh and Steven's suicide letter. Josh was a monster, at least Steven had sense of remorse from the shame and humility for what a disgusting and weak coward he was to be sucked into that pedophiles "robbery."

I think police need better pay *after* getting far more training. It also seems that many cops are promoted in the wrong way - because they are popular, not skilled or smart. There also needs to be an easier way to sue them or prosecute them for not doing their job. In many areas, they show up when called, ask a few questions, write out a report, yet do no research and otherwise blow it off. In at least one state, a citizen cannot get the state B.I. to investigate - only the sheriff is allowed to do that.

Instead of going to the Petit’s house they went to the bank. They prevented poor Dr Petit from running back in the house to save his daughters and wife. They had plenty of time to breech the house and save the wife from being raped by Steven and the youngest daughter being raped by that pedophile Josh. The poor eldest died of smoke inhalation trying to get out.

I live about 20 mins from Cheshire and this story gutted our entire state. What that family went thru was absolutely horrific and the cops failed them horribly. Marines soldiers some of which served in advance infantry or even special forces. They would absolutely unequivocally never forget something so vital.

Because they weren't looking for real evidence left by who actually killed her. They were trying trying to look for evidence that will make the boyfriend look guilty. They had made up their mind that he was the killer and were trying to fit evidence in that scenario. They wanted to pin the muder on him instead of actually doing their job, investigate and catch the real killer. They probably forgot that "everyone is a suspect until the real culprit is caught" or "everyone is innocent until proven guilty." The were trying to prove Kevin guilty instead of finding the real culprit.

I knew Kevin for years and wondered what happened to him all of the sudden. “He was a huge online gamer.” Our friends told me what had happened I’m in PA and he was in Arkansas, I knew for a damn fact he would’ve never done something like that. I live in Russellville. My sister played softball with her boyfriend in High School. They were broken up when this happened. The murder weapon was laying across her body. He knelt next to the body and got her blood on his clothes. He lifted a lamp off of her body so he could check for a pulse. And FYI, Russellville Police are notoriously lazy! They took him to trial over is 3 times and all 3 times there was a mistrial. They bankrupted this poor kid's family with legal fees. They sued the city a few years back to recover the legal fees. It's the 3rd time the actions of Russellville police have caused the city to be sued. That supposed kidnapping only got him 5 years in prison, not 15. A lot of us think that was a setup. The incident was supposed to have happened in the parking lot of the church that ""literally"" runs this town.

The scheme is generally to withdraw your own funds and not properly document some part of the process, or in some other way sabotage the process, in order to blame the bank and have the funds dispersed a second time. It's not as common anymore in the digital age, and it absolutely shouldn't have been an excuse used by the police to not properly follow up. Basically, if it was a scheme, bank fraud takes time to investigate and prove, so that's really not an excuse to wait. On the other hand, if they are legitimately being held under duress, time is of the essence. This was inexcusable sloppy policing, plain and simple.

I actually live in Russellville, knew Nona, and live a 1/4 mile from the apt she was murdered in. The police here are incompetent, to put it mildly. I know most people say that about their small town police, but I REALLY mean it. They completely fumbled her case on so many levels. Dunn did it. He's admitted to "friends" that he did it. It's pretty well common knowledge around here.

For the petit murders the police didn’t arrive and the house was already up in flames. They sat there for over 2 hours and were too scared to enter the home. If they had entered the home when they got there, all 3 of those lives would’ve been saved. They also pushed the lies to the media that William petit was involved. I grew up in ct and thought the father orchestrated it because of the media depiction of him being involved, it was on the news constantly. Shame on the Cheshire police for the way they acted during the crime and the many months after.

Police's actions were just like in that school shooting incident, what's the name, it was last year, in Texas: Arrendondo was their police Chief, and same as the Chief here, he wanted SWAT and god knows how many other agencies there first, he forbid anyone from doing anything, and they laid siege to the school for over an hour with the shooter still killing in a classroom. I'd say, the police Chief was the culprit here, too: no one would dare to go ahead and do anything without his permission.

The case of The Petit family happened in my state very close to where I live. I can't even explain how horrifying and heartbreaking that was for the family and the community. What those monsters did to that family was beyond depraved and we were all left terrorized. I remember my daughter, who was a preteen at the time, was afraid to go to sleep for about the next year. And poor Dr. Petit has to live with this.

I feel so sad hearing about the Petit family murders. Such a trivial thing like going to a grocery store can trigger this terrible event. What would have happened if they haven't gone to the grocery store this day? Would they have lived a happy and normal life? What about the murderers? Would they have targeted another family? I think he stalked them bc he already knew of them having money. Regardless, to me, this case highlights something else: the need to have ACTUALLY secured entrances to one's home. Had there been a serious lock on the cellar, had there been bars in their windows, etc: if they can't enter, they will go away. Do you have a solid door, a lock with a key that is not easily duplicated, what about your windows, your basement? It's terrifying.

The story about the man who followed the lady and her daughter home from the store reminds me of a sermon I regularly preach and that is, DON'T EVER ALLOW ANYONE TO FOLLOW YOU HOME. An incident happened here in Nashville about 45 years ago where a man and woman were involved in some sort of road rage altercation. The man followed the woman all the way home and as she stepped out of her car, he shot her. She was not killed but I believe she was permanently partially paralyzed. Since that time when I get close to home, I start looking behind me to see what cars might be following me. If I make two or three turns and the car behind me makes those same turns, I do not go home. I keep driving until that car is no longer following me. PLEASE, keep an eye on cars behind you and do not allow any car to follow you home. In this story it literally could have saved three lives.

Ugh, I hate that people have to worry about this, but it's sound advice. When I was 17 and still new to driving, I waited too long to turn and pissed off the driver behind me. They followed me for 15 minutes and took every turn I did-- even when I went down winding dirt roads, pulled into other people's driveways, and looped back around. It scared the absolute shit out of me. I was stupid and pulled over to get out and confront the person (turns out it was my ex-boyfriend, but that still doesn't make it okay). Never, NEVER go home if someone is following you.

I was 17 and only 2 weeks into my senior year when Hurricane Katrina hit.
