My brother was a marine and guarded that embassy in the 90s. He wasn't allowed to take photos of it at the time. I always wondered what it looked like. He's since passed away. Casey as a Cuban American from Miami I can tell you that many, many Cubans here share that story. In fact to this day they are still coming over on rafts. Sadly there are some that do not make it. The sacrifice they make for freedom is amazing.

Unfortunately my concern is that what you did (or at least what we saw) is probably what 90% of Americans will do when they visit Cuba. The people are in great need and I don't see that any corporation or dictatorship spreading the wealth to the people. If anyone goes to Cuba remember to leave it as a better place because of your presence, bring gifts, find out what people need the most and bring it in abundance. America is a wonderful beautiful and plentiful place, share it!

+Aggiesgigem Not true. Citizenship is a process to which you apply, just landing in the US, whether you are Cuban or not, is not enough. What Cubans are allowed to do, or at least for now considering the diplomatic changes, is to apply for permanent residency (green card) one year and one day after entry into the US. They are not automatically awarded anything. I do understand that it is easier for Cubans than for other immigrants but they are still not "awarded citizenship" if they "stay out of trouble."
