One Q&A, Casey needs to let us know how long it takes to edit these and how much footage he shoots for each one! For my vlogs it's like 5 hours of footage and another 5 to edit... so I'm so curious how long it takes for someone who's always only known filmmaking. Thank you Casey for keeping these going!

Always shoot with the end product in mind. Avoid shooting too much because you'll have too much to go through. I don't create vlogs but I've worked in the TV news biz for over a decade, so I know something about tight deadlines. This technique is sometimes called "editing in the camera".

Randy Lane I agree with that, most of vlogging is learning when to turn the camera on. The more you vlog the less footage you will need to shoot. I will film about 30 min a day tops, more if there are time lapses, cut it down to 10-12 min *****

The quote is apparently about filmmaking, and that's what he was talking about when he said it, so I don't like that people are bringing it out of context and just saying it by itself. The quote really means "If you are doing what all the other filmmakers are doing, you're making films the wrong way." The quote doesn't really make sense ('cause of the grammar), if it's not said about filmmaking.

When you are doing your time lapses do you have your new macbook pro to edit whilst waiting for the time lapses to finish? Is that the secret to your extreme punctuality with uploads? I recently uploaded a vlog sorta thing about my ski trip on my channel. It would mean a lot if anyone checked it out and I'm always open to feedback.
