@humboldt 🐻 bear : cash Jordan is fun & absolutely nerdy😊cute .The NYC apts he shows are always interesting. I lived in Manhattan ("the city") many yrs ago when apts were actually, unbelievably, cheap--affordable. Moved to one of the outer boroughs yrs ago, stayed put, traveled Europe alot, still stayed put &after divorce, bought myself & 5yr old son a modest, cozy1600 sq ft, 2 bdrm, 2 level waterfront bungalow w/a deck & patio facing water. It's not an apartment, its a stand-alone structure on co-op owned land. Monthly mtge,co-op fee & real estate tax = $917.00. I still love Manhattan after all the yrs but it's only 20-40 mins away by car depending on distance to travel. Cant afford to live there now & wouldn't pay insanely hi rent for an acceptably "cool" apt NOR would I pay a low rent to live in a closet. Unfortunately, rents in the outer boroughs became ridiculously hi, pre-covid.Don't know how pple afford them😕, especially since covid & inflation on EVERYTHING. Just content & grateful to have my own little piece of heaven where i was able to raise a kid safely. BTW, HumboldtBear, are you in Mendocino Cnty (green triangle?). I'm Scottish, and I thought our prices were crazy! I just checked the price for 3 bedroom apartments in our capital city of Edinburgh, and it works out to be about 1/3 of the price of these, and Edinburgh is considered very expensive. I suppose most people in New York live a long way out of the city and spend hours commuting. They do look nice though, and seem to be a lot more spacious than I would expect for a city centre.

It's always interesting/fun to explore these apartments, and Cash and Charles are very watchable hosts. I chuckle when Cash says 'free AC' - wait until the utility bill comes. And though the necessity of it is obvious, the idea of having multiple roommates that always worried me is that life is unpredictable: an unexpected job offer in another city or state, a health issue, a sudden family emergency back home - it seems that with 3 or more roommates especially, you would be in the situation of regularly having to find someone new who is compatible. Maybe it's easier in your 20s? I can't remember that far back.

That ground floor unit was GORGEOUS! Charles listings were better though (of course they are) because of the amount of space and storage, plus the full-sized appliances, that you get for your money.
