Words cannot describe what living in a place like this is actually like. New York City takes a lot out of you, and when you consider the prices of apartments like this, it might seem like living here is near-impossible. Good thing the landlord plans to renovate.

When the fridge doesn’t open completely you can’t get the drawers to pull out completely, which could make it so you can’t get to all your food. But also it means you can’t properly cleanly your fridge cause you can’t take the drawers out to clean under them or even all the way in them. That’s a problem. They need to stop making spaces that are too small for appliances

I live in a nice building, since I'm on Ontario Disability, I have RGI. When I moved in, the water in the tub wasn't draining properly and I ended up with fungal infections on both ankles and feet. It took the admin in the building about 2 weeks to get it sorted out. I have 2 things against me here. I'm not French (I live in a building that used to be exclusively for French speaking ppl) plus I'm one of about a dozen apartments who are reserved for RGI tenants. Ugh. I grew up in a place that is predominantly French and could speak it quite well. Moved away at 12 and really didn't have an opportunity to speak French, so 40 years later, I'm lost. I can understand my fair share, but I don't let on because I love it when ppl are talking about me, specifically the way I dress; I'm not into senior fashion at all. 😅

The first one, no place to sleep. For $4,000 you'd get a claustrophobic sleeping slot and a basement with no windows. For $2,800 you get a 5th-floor walkup - better, but both places are tired, abused and gross. Charles to the rescue! For $4,450 you get an oddball layout but lots of space, a communal courtyard and two bathrooms. For $5,250 you get large rooms, great kitchen and a view, clean but pricey! For $8,900 you get some luxury and living space, three very different bedrooms and your own bathroom, also pricey for having to share.

I know everyone thought the first apartment was awful but if it was cleaned up and a couple things fixed I’d say it was so unusual that I’d love it. Also, your bedroom goes to the laundry room and I like that too! Charles apartments were the best though and it’s a huge plus if your landlord is a good one! It means he listens to your issues and fixes things when they break! I’m glad I live in a city where I don’t have to worry about whether my appliances can fully open up and be cleaned! I wonder how Charles cleaning people cleaned that drawer in the fridge!

You found the most interesting places in here!! I loved all of them! That’s right, even the weird nasty ones. The layouts and configurations were absolutely bonkers, and I LOVED IT!!!🥰💜💜

I like it when you are with Charles. They are ok but a little weird. All of them have challenges. But it was a great tour and it was fun to see Charles at work.😊

Wow, that open walkway to the A/C is an accident waiting to happen! Those first 2 were pretty bad. I love the piles of trash down the stairs.

The first and second apartments, I can see some one hurting them selfs. But with other 2 are way better even tho the rent is on the high side.

You and Charles have way too much fun! LOL No, I've never had a Real Estate Agent tell me they would fix/replace stuff if the landlord didn't. Course I don't rent anymore....but for 25+ years, I did.

Landlords in New York are so freaking bold asking ridiculous prices for absolutely absurd spaces

People who live in New York must earn a lot more money. Otherwise, landlord's couldn't get away with charging these outrageous prices for rent. Rent has gone up everywhere... and it's too high.
