I started watching your videos because I had no clue on how to play craps. It always intimidated me so I just avoided it all together. However, I decided to finally sit down, learn the basics and found your videos. Your videos made it real simple to understand and I gained a lot of confidence when playing this game. I downloaded a decent electronic game to practice on and gained a little more confidence. I finally decided to go play for real and went with a conservative strategy at first till I built a little "play money". I went in with $300 and came out with $645 ($345 gain) after a few hours. There were highs and lows and a lot of on hands learning. Overall I had a lot of fun and I think I have a new favorite game to play at the casino now. Thank you!

Wonderfully presented. You clearly state exactically the truth about the enticing FIELD bet. When I was 21 years old at Harolds Club Reno Nevada in 1965 on the Dime Minimum Table, I bet a dime in the field on each roll, doubling up after each loss. Once my progression had pushed me up from a dime to a $6 bet. A twelve rolled and I won $18. When the night was over I'd won $40.

At first, I wondered why in the hell would a Field Bet be more costly (losing $28 per hour) than the Any Craps bet (losing $11 per hour), when the house edge is much lower (5.6% vs 11%). And of course it's because you are only playing $1 at a time on the Any Craps bet compared to $5 a roll on the Field Bet. As always, Color Up, you've got us thinking of the best way to play Craps. I rarely play craps, but when I do, I table max bet the field for 1 roll of the dice. Win or lose, I’m finished with the craps table at that point. It has covered my blackjack/slot machine losses toooo many times for me to remember 🤑 The craps dealers at my local indian casino know me at this point (I’m easily distinguishable when you see my beard 😂) plus they know my tactic. When they see me walk up and one of their craps regs is playing, I can hear them telling the reg “Oh here comes this guy. Watch what he’s going to do”. They aren’t really trash talking, as they are always rooting for me and celebrate when I hit. I seem to be pretty lucky when it comes to hitting 2s and 12s, but they only pay 2-1 there. But thanks for your video! It made me feel less stupid about playing the field, because most regs there never do 🤪

If your comps are based on "time at the table" then stay away from the field and other single roll decision bets. The field has the lowest house edge (2.78%) and best probability (44.44%) of any single roll decision bet. This makes it viable for low risk + quick winning strategies. Lower per hour cost on higher house edge bets just mean it takes longer to lose more.

I never bet on the Field Bet alone. But I do combine it with the 5,6, and 8 so I have the Iron Cross working. This more often than not works out in my advantage, seeing as how there's only 1 number which can hurt me, the 7. Only thing I do not like about the Iron Cross is that when a 5, 6, or 8 rolls, you win on the Place Bet, but lose on the Field. Pretty frustrating when you're making only a buck or so when the middle numbers keep popping up. Meanwhile, you know that 7 is gonna pop up sooner or later. So you actually want some low and high numbers to roll in order for the Iron Cross to actually be profitable for you.

I wish I could get people to stop basing their strategies around the concept of "House Edge." Just pay attention to your odds. There are 36 dice combinations. So your odds of winning will be somewhere between 1/36 to 36/36. That's it! If your odds of winning on the next roll are ever 18/36, then you're playing a perfectly fair game with a 50% chance to win/lose. If you can tip the odds to 19/36, or better, then the odds are in your favor. Keep it simple. "House Edge" was never meant to be used by players. It's a metric used by casinos to estimate their expected profit over the long term.
@wagermethis4 жыл бұрын
I have argued that point many times
@marknoble54954 жыл бұрын
How is it fair just because you have a 50% chance of winning and 50% chance of losing? A 50% chance to win is only fair if you are getting 1:1 on your money.
@samueleuresti34 жыл бұрын
@@marknoble5495 You're right. But that becomes less of a worry, when you can fix the odds 90% in your favor. Example: If you play $64 Across + $5 Field, you have slightly better than an 83% chance to win. Statistically, you should win at least 8 out of 10 rolls. This is great, because you only need 5 hits to break even. And that leaves 3 rolls available for profits. 😀 Of course, that's assuming that the 7 doesn't come up first. 🤪 But I'll take an 83% wager anyday!

The field is supposed to pay triple on 12. That is the way the game was designed. The house still has a solid edge and the field was never a good bet. However, the casinos discovered that a lot of idiots don't know any better and will bet the field even with double on 12 instead of triple.

You're not wrong and the math is spot on... My concerns with videos like this is that so much emphasis is placed on the math or edge versus having fun and staying profitable. I can/would gladly give the casino 100 p\hr if I can make $120-200. The long term math works both ways and as long as your disciplined and have flexibility in your bank roll, you can make decent part time money over 25+ years gaming
@ColorUp Жыл бұрын

Great Video...What if you play the field with the winnings from a place bet? I guess everything stays the same except no risk on that play...

im not saying avoid the field, play it however you like, just bringing attention to the potential cost....you may go on a hot streak and the field is a great bet :)

It is a fallacy that money won elsewhere is not risked. Imagine it stashed in a piggy bank that gets cracked open on New Year's Eve 10 years from now.

This is was great explanation and other comments have said. I really like the detail and comparison along with the stats. At nearly 5% percent rather play roulette then the field. Though I have seen interesting strategy that use it a bit.

The only thing this video did not show is how to throw a field number. I found a great dice set that hits field numbers, usually a 4 or ten.

Faster decision means win or loss sooner. 100 decisions on the 4/9 (at $5) is still an expected $20 loss. It just may take you longer to get there. So if your goal is to watch ppl roll the dice for as long a possible, then field bet is not the way to go. Just don't bet at all and the cost per hour is $0

I can’t go for any field slander 😂🤣 my favorite bet on the table especially when it starts hitting hot

Excellent analysis and description of the pros and cons of the field bet. I play it only occasionally on a lark, or maybe to hedge a Don't Pass bet. But only because it's a fun bet when you win.

Its fun, and its a "great" bet if it hits :)

I heard somewhere before that if you look at the layout of the table the best bets are small(the dp/dc) and the worst bets are big (ie..the field bet)..I treat the field bet like. blk or red on roulette .play big and get out fast
@ColorUp Жыл бұрын
Well the prop bets in middle of table are the smallest bets but also the worst so 🤷♂️

Great, useful formula that can be used in any game for money management! What are your thoughts on using the field to quickly double up when your bankroll dwindles lower than your system requires?
@ColorUp4 жыл бұрын
If it hits its an easy double...ya never know, its gambling :)

so ive been falling into this betting strategy, without the 5 bet. just 6,8, and field... 11.11% difference but working very well.

So I have a question watching this. Before I begin big fan and because of you I gave craps a chance. I started on a $10 dollar table bought in $200. Was betting only 6/8 pressed when they hit and if the point was not 6/8 I would press the bet. Then when a point was set I was playing the field making $25 dollar bets if I lost I would place $50 if I hit than I would go back to $25. There was only once that I had lost three field bets in a row where I placed $75 and got lucky to hit box cars and got paid 3 to one. So watching this video made me think if I was lucky that first time and tried the same theory three additional times. Well the first time i bought in $200 cashed out $1685 in about an hour and a half. Second time bought in $300 because now it was a $15 dollar table. Walked out $895 in 40 min. Third time bought in $400 table was $25 min and walked out with $2,355 in an hour and 45 min? So in closing what is your thought and or theory on this type of game play and set up? You still think in the long run it’s a losing style?
@Alex-bq2vs4 жыл бұрын
You were lucky; four and even five losses in a row are very possible on the field. Also, you got paid triple on the 12 giving you less than 3% house edge. (most casinos pay only double)

since you wrote this coment how successful has this style of game play been for you? I tried it once and killed it but haven’t done this again.

Wait for 3 or 4 non field numbers. Then martingale up 5-8 times. I have made more money than I have lost. One casino even changed the max bet field. From $2,000 to $500 because of me. That what one of the pit bosses told me.
@phxsun2001tony3 жыл бұрын
Every roll is random. The previous numberd do not affect the next roll. You can have 20 non-field number, but the chances of field number coming out next will not change. Blackjack is different. On a single deck game, if you saw four aces came out, no one at the table will get a blackjack during the net round. The card dealt affect the odds of the next round. On craps, each roll is independant. Your system may yield short term gain, but if you try it ling enough, you probably will loose.

I need you to help me understand why this house edge matters. I had a long debate over this and I'm still not convinced. If my 50 dollar hard 6 bet yields me a net profit return over my game time play why do I care what the casino keeps? So far I'm a net positive craps player and I bet the biggest odds on the table. And box numbers. But so many ppl are hung up on how much the house keeps. What am I missing? Why do people feel robbed of the house edge is a high percentage? If I walk up to a table with 500 and walk away with 2,000 I don't really care what I got taxed to play the game.

I like the field. I bet the pass line minimum I cover my six and eight after the point is established and I put one minimum bet in the field. If it wins I'll cover the five and nine and then just sit back and collect until my money is right and my bets are paid for. Then, I'll drop my profit as odds on the past line three for every one. After that I will literally just let my bets come down as they hit unless a specific number keeps coming up and sometimes I'll press that number if I've taken down a few and I'm up. I just started playing but it was easy enough to catch on. If my initial field bet loses, I will collect my first six or eight or point, and then make another field bet with my next to try and cover the five and nine. If my third attempt at the field loses I'll take my bets down and just wait for point

I usually play the field sparingly. If I hit it, I collect and leave it. Hit it again, I pull it off till I see 2 non-field results in a row. Not scientific, but it seems to work OK for me and I enjoy making the bet.

I play the field if the 2 or 12 pays triple but with money management using the Mini- Martingale system of 1-2-3 with a 20-40% loss limit, once the win goal is reached, I go into excesses and guarantees and plateaus and increase the bets. As my mentor John Patrick says the field isn't chopped steak but it isn't that bad either.
