Nobody would gamble with somebody who doesn't pay the winners..It was lines such as... Kids got alligator blood" Also... "respect is all you have left in the morning". As in he respects Matt Damon as a intelligent and skilled opponent and adversary... Matt Damon's buddy put them in debt by making brainless moves... . All that added up to a substantial sized Financial hole... He filled in the hole. Paid off his buddys debt. Paid back the judge.. He also won back all the money he lost to K.G.B. in the beginning.. Then he left for vegas to chase his dream. If K.G.B. didn't respect the kid.. He should have.. Awesome comment by the way..

Yeah you're right. I had to do that last night for a $1500 pot. I re-raised pre-flop with AA and flopped a set on AJT board with two diamonds, but the turn brought a flush and the river a straight. The guy check-raised the turn and I called hoping the board would pair on the river. Unfortunately, the river brought the 4th card of a straight. My top set had turned into bluff catcher. The guy insta-shoves the river. I tanked for about 2-3 minutes and then made the call because the guy seemed to be playing little too aggressive for his hand and making moves too aggressively. He didn't turn his hand over instantly and then said that the caller was supposed to turn his hand over first. We all knew that was bullshit, but I turned over the set and he mucked his hand. Then he said I made a terrible call because either a flush or a single card straight would've beaten me. While that might be true, it is also true that he had neither of those hands and that is the main point. I'm still buzzing from that hand this afternoon!

Yes the typical thing what bad guys do is, that after loosing they dont pay, when kill you, if you want them pay and after winning they want you to pay or kill you off. You cant be that good poker player, if you have so much emotion in it and he just had cheeky personality without realizing what is happening. He was just prideful about his 3 aces, while he never wondered how good player like Matt Damon keep calling thoese pots, when of course Matt Damon needs to have something sick to keep calling, when there is just numbers in board. I see many people complaining about his accent, but here is the thing - everybody is different with accents. I had a russian guy in my german classes who spoke german with exactly the same accent. Incredibly heavy. Being good at the language (grammatically correct) doesn't mean automatically you have an ear for the prononciation and vice versa. I on the other hand, speak five languages at different proficiency levels and can imitate german and english (american or british) accent so well, that I have been mistaken by native speakers for a native speaker myself, they find it hard to locate, but they fall for it. The second I try to build more complex sentences and hesitate about words my accent starts to fall apart and my ruse is exposed. :) So his accent is really spot on and people saying that no russian would speak with such an accent is a very subjective thing to say.

Literally performs a cookie eating ritual whenever he's got a hand. Can't understand how Mike figured out his tell.
@wasserperson5 ай бұрын
I've always figured the cookie ritual is Teddy KGB's standard way to declare confidence in his hand, and the read is that when he's got the nuts he eats the cookie a little different, something subtle like closing his eyes when he bites the first half.

I always found that final scene very interesting. When Damon's character starts to mouth off and Teddy's goons move toward him, Teddy immediately stops them because he knows that if they do that, they might as well shut down the game, because no one will play ever again if it gets out that not only did hey not pay up, but thy had someone beat-up to boot. forget about it. They really capture that anticipation you feel that shakes the soul. After a hand like that you are moved like nothing else. They captured it by some form of sorcery, making you miss that moment when you last felt it. That's the magic there.

Sometimes it's really hard to tell another poker player's tell. Like when he has a habit of dramatically opening oreos and listening to them break apart while sitting at the table, that's easy to dismiss as just normal, everyday, unrelated stuff.

Lol, judging by the likes, I think this is whooshing over most people's heads :)
@jennistone87402 жыл бұрын
For movie purposes, the tell has to be painfully obvious so amateurs can get behind it and think they figured it out themselves… If a tell is that obvious, I’d assume it’s bluff aging.
@jimmy2k4oАй бұрын
Well tells are unnoticed by even the people who have them….. it’s easier to spot someone else’s tell than it is your own. Also you can fake a tell as bait to lure in people, make them think you have a tell and lose small until you have a monster hand and use your fake tell to bluff a bluff.
