Foo Fighters had open auditions for a guitar player after recording their 3rd album as a trio in 1999. Chris Shiflett got the job. I was/am a HUGE fan so I immediately thought "I'm 19 & just graduated high school. I need to buy & learn how to play guitar & also move from Canada to L.A. to audition", what a pipe dream. I didn't start playing guitar until 2001 & I was in my 2nd semester of university. Pretty sure Foo Fighters made out OK 😆

INXS Kick was a great record. The whole thing is good and most of it stands up. My little brother would be a killer addition to the Smashing Pumpkins and I guarantee he could learn all of it and shred when called upon.

Billy Corgan has long been known as an incredible songwriter but most people don’t realize all of the contributions he’s made by writing songs for other bands and other recording artists, movie soundtracks, songs written for movies and ethereal Movie music. He’s the best songwriter I’ve ever heard. The volume of songs he’s written and recorded and majority of them range from my favorite songs ever to great to good. It’s undeniable.

Love the Pumpkins (& INXS) while it’s Billy Corgans band. To me him & Jimmy Chamberlain are the core whom the band sounds better with. One of my favourite drummers. As Butch Vig says Billy is a “badass guitar player” Billy would be the toughest part of the gig but it’s his band and his vision. It would be totally worth it, sadly I don’t have the chops! Jack White & Billy Corgan pairing would probably end in a murder but the one I would love to hear, what would be their combined guitar driven view of the world? I remember in 89/90 I saw them w/Vanilla Trianwreck at the Cat’s Cradle in N.C. There was a bomb threat and when the SP went on people were chanting “Sonic Youth”. D’arcey chastised people for being jerks. Needless to say once they started playing Billy was a man possessed and the SP slayed everyone. They were great and the show itself was extremely loud. At the end of the show the band split off and stepped off stage to do band things. Billy had the fewest people trying to talk to him. Most people were trying to talk to James or D’arcey. The SP at that point were just becoming known and were touring on “Gish” still. Good times

"Sound of Freedom" is heavily fictionalized of a real person. And it was playing to empty "sold out" theaters, tickets bought buy a Far Right PAC. Caviezel also is full on QAnon and has said Democrats and Hollywood elites are drinking babies' blood. Not even kidding. It's a shame because before he went off the rails I really liked his movies and TV. "Outlander" is one of my favorite movies and he was great in "Person of Interest"/ INXS did find a singer on "Rock Star" and had a couple minor hits in the US. Probably more in Australia.

If you think the movie was dark for the first 30 min, check out Jordan Peterson's interview with the real guy. When you understand what he did before he started doing what the movie portrayed, that's dark. Someone has to watch the videos and see the pictures that get people arrested, and he was that guy. Oh yeah, Baxter should actually audition. You would be perfect dude. You need to play 1979, and Bullets With Butterfly Wings.

I met Michael Hutchence several times over the years. The first time was in 81 seeing the Church. He was with two beautiful women that were about six foot tall. I think he liked my friend Marie. She ignored him. He was a lovely, genuine guy and could take a joke. I never liked his band though and I don't think he was happy.

Seems legit to me It’s a good promotional tool, puts the band in the headlines with a good story; and gives the band an opportunity to likely hire another guitar player, at probably really cheap rate; cause most people auditioning are “fans”
