The LED light is ment to be used in sailing competitions (Regattas), as a visual aid when you use de backwards timer. Pretty usefull indeed when there's a lot of wind and you can't hear the alarm sound. It's all in the manual. In fact, that's the reason I got it and now its my #1 partner when I'm either mountaneering or sailing.

My 8 year old orange-red G8000 finally drew her last breathe a couple of days ago, loved the damn watch and it was sad to see her go. A G-7900A-4 is on its way as replacement to live on her legacy, as both watches share similar features. This video here allows me one last look at my G8000 before I send her off in style.

24 hr timer is very useful for eBay auctions... Ae-1200 has one too. But I find I won't use a watch any more if it doesn't have WWVB sync. If it's not atomic accurate, what's the point of wearing a watch if your cell phone is going to be more accurate? Most of these plain Casios lose 10-20 seconds a month. Also I prefer solar powered because then you can use all the power gobbling features of the watch with wild abandon.
