I've had a Casio CT S1 for two and a half years now, which I bought because of your videos about it. It's a BEAST and I still love it years after buying it. I own other keyboards (Yamaha MOXF8, Casio AP470 and Casio XW-G1) and the CT S1 is still my favorite of all my little collection. I'm serious, I've put this thing through EVERYTHING, I even use it regularly for gigs together with the MOXF8 or the XW-G1 and it keeps to amaze me how good it sounds and feels, even being played among more expensive keyboards. Thanks Jeremy for all these years of honest content! You always help consumers make a thoughtful choice.

@@ita7940 Like I commented to Jeremy and elsewhere several times. The CT-S1 is a gem as is, still three years later, despite some shortcomings for its simplicity, sound, key action, portability and battery power and price. I know even more proficient players like you with more expensive keyboards may enjoy just playing this at home for enjoyment without having to power up or unpack their pro keyboards or rigs, or to travel with if they don't need to bring their other keyboards, just to play on the road, hotel, or do some recording and composing with a laptop.

I have the 61 key model and love it. That keyboard size is ideal for ‘live band gigging’ where space is sometimes at a premium as am sure it will be for many others. Always a good review though and am sure this’ll tick the box for many players.

I'm thinking about buying my first digital piano and I'm still leaning on the smaller version. The relatively steep price increase combined with more space required put me off enough. The 76 should have come with some extra features for the price.

Unfortunately it costs 340$ when the Korg Liano costs the same and has 88 keys. I love the CTS1 but if I was in the market I wouldn't be able to justify buying it.
@jjacob251012 ай бұрын
I have a CT-S1 and the original Roland Go:Keys, and think the 76 Key CT-S1 with louder speakers is great. And yes, 76 sound tones would have been nice. But, I agree that the Korg Liano with 88 keys is a better deal, albeit only 8 factory tones, but it's bundled with a huge bundle of popular music software worth much more than the cost of the keyboard. What would also be even nicer, though not cheap, would be a 76 key version of the Roland Go:Keys 5.

Hey Jeremy, I'm getting a Casio LK-218 (used) for 145 USd, I found your video on this keyboard but didn't find. Could you please tell me, should I buy this or not ?
@TommasoPabaАй бұрын
One of the key selling points of the CT-S1 was its low price, combined with very good sounds (for the price). Considering the low price point, you would forgive Casio for the terrible keybed and terrible user interface. As mentioned in the video, the keys are too short and the hinge is very close to where you push the key, making it difficult to play more complex and fast passages. It's also impossible to select a desired sound directly, you have to cycle through sounds until you find the one that you want, so basically you cannot change sounds in the middle of a song. So it's a keyboard for beginners or for musicians who want a second keyboard, easy to carry around, for quick rehearsals or on holiday, but not for a live performance or even serious rehearsal. While these shortcomings were tolerable in a low-cost keyboard, at $399 it's a different story. The shortcomings are not acceptable anymore at that price point. For that price, you can get something definitely better, especially if you look at the second-hand market.
@jjacob251012 ай бұрын
Great improvements as stated, along with it's shortcomings. The most important shortcomings is the polyphony. My original Roland Go:Keys has 128 note polyphony. Second is the Lack of split keyboard. I forgot if it can layer sounds. And lastly, why couldn't they have added the dual ¼" audio output jacks? A pitch bend wheel would be nice. Otherwise I would consider getting this and giving my original CT-S1 to a friend. But I would rather keep my original and get the 88 key Korg Liano wirh the huge keyboard bundle once I get a decent current laptop. But I still plan to get the Go:Keys 5 when does so much, but it would be great if Roland came out with a 76 key version for $600-650.

Why don't these keyboards come with a modulation lever, even if it's small? Without a modulation lever, the ability to choose it or work with it in creating music is almost totally reduced, with the number of mediocre and cheap controllers on the market, buying one of these keyboards would be the solution to so many low-quality keyboards full of plastic and of poor quality in its construction BUT WITHOUT MODULATION LEVER OR WHEELS THEY ARE NOT A GOOD OPTION unfortunately homework for yamaha, casio, korg etc: PUT A MODULATION LEVER FOR MUSIC CREATION ON ALL YOUR KEYBOARDS, even if they are pianos like these oriented for pianists, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO PUT THEM ON THE MARKET OF KEYBOARD PLAYERS MUSIC CREATORS, AND SALES WILL INCREASE A LOT, since that's basically all they care about, right?...
