As creepy as it may be to some, Casper saying "Can I keep you?" to Kat is his way of saying that he hopes they'll always be friends. You can see the innocence and wonder in his big baby eyes as he says it, because after all this time he finally has someone he considers a real friend.

This one's always a tough watch for me. I love this movie. I would tell everyone I knew that if someone were to ever say a certain line to me, I'd immediately fall for them. Many tried (often out if curiosity, but sometimes it was a genuine attempt ☺️). Someone who was pursuing me, approached me one day and asked: "can I keep you?" We were married for 15 years. I would occasionally hear the question being asked: "can I (still) keep you?" (Me) "Yes, but only for forever and a day." Forever and a day came too soon. Three years ago my spouse died on Thanksgiving morning. My heart is still broken. I would give anything to have one more dance, to hear those words whispered in my ear one last time: "can I keep you."😔

@commandixnostalgia23212 ай бұрын
I have to correct you on one thing: Casper died of Pneumonia,not Leukomia. Yes,Casper said he died from the cold,but that is not entirely the reason. It is suggested he died from his Pneumonia along with having hypothermia. The real true reason why Casper needed a friend is because he did originally had a best friend,a fox (I think?) named Ferdie. Ferdie was Casper's only friend at the time because Ferdie wasn't scared of him. But late one night,hunters shot Ferdie,despite Casper's efforts to save him. This was revealed in a short called There's Good Boos Tonight. This is why Casper needed a friend,because he did lost his only friend back then. Originally,Casper did not understand that he was dead at all,although the idea of him losing his memories were still considered. Casper's ''uncles'' Stretch,Fatso and Stinky aren't actually his uncles at all. They're just named uncles as a way to say friends and not mean it in the family sense. Another sad fact is that Casper's dad had mental issues. This is revealed in the newspaper where it says that Casper's dad is legally insane. Many people would miss that. It's also suggested that Kat's dad went through the same type of thing,considering he also lost his wife,and his obsession for ghosts. Casper never knew his mom because his mom died from childbirth,meaning that she died when she gave birth to Casper. When Casper kept asking Kat if he could keep her,he mean it as a friend,not as the creepy way y'all think. It is way more sadder than y'all realize. Keep in mind that Casper was lonely and Kat was the only one who understands him,trust and rely on. (a little touch from what we see with Ferdie) He may have a crush on her,but his desire for friendship is deeper than that,as it's more of a companionship. Kat's dad may be a doctor,but he wasn't always logical. Throughout the movie,you see him struggling for money. That is because the Harvey's are poor on money,and what is rarely mentioned is that Casper and his dad were wealty.

This movie change my world TOTALLY! I'll explain. I think I was around almost 15 when it came out, I felt empathy with both Kat (been bullying) & Casper (my crush ignore me). When I saw Devon Sawa I felt in love! But I heard that Casper as ghost had different voice that the human; which confused me I'm mexican & started to study english around 8& my head wasn't trusting the credits because many go 'uncredit' or sometimes forgotten. So I was "I would look at the movie, hear the subtitles, AND listen to the voice to heard if there's a difference. My answer was to learn enough english to not need the subtitles, when done I was "I wanna hear other actors real voice!" So now I prefer to write, read, even talk with my sister in english!

I still think this was one of the best live-action adaptations of a cartoon ever made, the 1990’s was the golden age of live-action movie adaptations, “The Flintstones”, “Inspector Gadget”, “George of the Jungle”, but “Casper” still stands out because we can see there was a lot of heart in it, the CGI was amazing, the soundtrack was amazing (composed by James Horner who made the soundtrack of “Titanic”), the acting was amazing, the references were amazing, it explored deep parts of it’s IP that the fans probably wondered about, like the fact that Casper is a ghost and a child implied that he died young which is quite sad by default, I wish this movie had a sequel because the end had so many loose ends, like what happened to Casper’s parents after they died? Did they become ghosts? If so why aren’t they there? Could they get some more of that substance that made the machine work? I wish we got to see Kat as a ghost having fun with Casper and becoming even more powerful than his uncles

😎 Trivia: Universal originally had plans on turning the part at 26:26 into a ride at Universal Studios, but ultimately decided that it would not be a cost effective venture. The fact that Paramount, the studio that originally produced all the Casper cartoons in the 40s and 50s, still owned the rights to the animated image might have also complicated things. 👻

The form of a ghost is based on “spiritual memory”, like the soul has no shape but it adapts itself to the physical body, that’s why he looked like his living form still as a ghost, ghosts are made out of energy and plasma (the pins and needles feeling Casper described), I think that machine works by converting plasma into matter then giving a ghost a new living body, so yes Dr. Harvey’s other body would be found dead and I guess people would think he had an identical twin or something
