Granted, this movie is very similar to the first movie. Like, it’s the same movie except it’s in New York. But it does have some things in it that makes it different. Like, it has this very grand looking hotel, Kevin has different burglar traps, and of course Tim Curry as the Concierge is just the major cherry on top. I actually think this movie is as enjoyable as the first one.

Things that occur in both Home Alone Movies: 1. Kevin getting sent to the bedroom in the attic for something Buzz started 2. The family almost missing their flight because they overslept. 3. The scene from "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" 4. Kevin ordering a cheese pizza 5. Kate screaming when she realized Kevin isn't with them 6. Characters thinking a character from a gangster movie is speaking to them. 7. The family watching "It's a Wonderful Life" in a motel room 8. Kevin meeting a stranger who seems scary but turns out to actually be nice, but misunderstood. 9. The stranger saving Kevin from Harry and Marv 10. The movie ending with Kevin being yelled at by someone off camera.

I rate the second one higher, because the risks Kevin faces are greater. He's not defending his own house, he's in a city he's likely never been before, Harry and Marv have already seen him, and while Chicago has a "grit" to it, so does New York, and I think I like the "look" of that NYC grit just a little more.

There's actually a mistake throughout the entire movie. Whenever someone mentions something from the first movie, they said it happened "last year". In the first movie, Kevin was only 8 years old. In this movie, Kevin is 10. Kevin can't go from 8 to 10 in one year. This is mathematically impossible, even if Kevin's birthday falls around Christmas time.

Yes, that's how generations change. Over 30 years ago we fell out of our chairs laughing. Of course there were adults who thought they were long dead and so on. We already know that! But it was the era of cartoons that made you laugh and now it was real. The first two Home Alone films work so well for more than just that. They have a message for people! The feelings for each other are portrayed believably. That the most important thing at Christmas is not giving out presents. But also family! (Now I sound like Vin Diesel.) Also being there for others and not having any prejudices - the older man in the first film or the homeless woman, for example. There is this kind of seriousness about family and Christmas in general. But especially how important a family is to a person and that's why these slapstick interludes work so well. Especially when you end the first film with such a strong scene where the old man holds his granddaughter in his arms and talks to his son again. The same goes for the homeless woman who lost everything here and is now experiencing real friendship for the first time in a long time.

By the end of this movie Marv would've been killed by each brick, the two story fall, the electrocution, the bag of plaster, the pipe to the face and then getting crushed by it, and the three story fall from the burning rope. Harry would've been killed by the bag of wrenches, the kerosene explosion, the pipe to the face and getting crushed, and the three story fall. If you combine the total Kill shots from both movies, Harry would die 8 times and Marv 13
@marcpower4167
@marcpower4167 27 күн бұрын
The Kerosene explosion would have caused a massive house fire, Harry would have definitely been killed since he was right in the middle of it, chances are Marv & Kevin would have been killed in the blast too, at the very least BADLY burned.

I appreciated the filmmaker's "pull-back long shot" view outside the building as Harry does a head-stand and 'dunk' into the kerosene filled toilet. Which explodes as the camera pulled back. That's such a wonderful technique. It's new but each time, it's just about perfect to depict what happens without 'us' being front-and-center witnesses. In 1982's hilarious VICTOR/VICTORIA director Blake Edwards does this in the infamous 'cockroach in cafe' scene where Julie Andrews has opened her purse to shake out her captured cockroach onto her plate, thus hoping to get a free meal. In that scene, the camera moves outside the cafe and long-shots the ensuing pandomonium as the cockroach flies and scurries across many tables, each set of diners freaking out and causing havoc. I wonder how you'd react to THAT film? Julie Andrews and Robert Preston are a pair of, uh, 'economically challenged' musical-stage actors trying to make ends meet. They hatch a scheme which gangster James Garner stumbles into, becoming a witness-supporter of their scheme. Some folks have claimed "This was the last, great Slapstick Comedy" comparing it to the also wonderful WHAT'S UP, DOC (1972; Barbara Streisand, Ryan O'Neal, introducing Madeline Kahn).

Interesting information apparently in the script there were things inside that were omitted from the film. Things that added more to the story. Like were you curious as to why Kevin never told anyone at the airport he got on the wrong plane? Well in the original script, instead of the the guy speaking French he was sitting next to a college girl. They talked about how she used to fly alone when she was younger and how one Christmas she got delayed and lost at an airport. She got put in a group home as a result, and that apparently scared Kevin enough not to say anything. Also apparently when the family arrives in New York, I think, Uncle Frank was supposed to complain about Kevin ruining another trip, And it was then Kevin's parents both snap and put Frank in his place, tired of his attitude. That would have been a great scene to have. Plus that blonde women with the black clothes that punched and slapped Marv? Well apparently there was another encounter in the script. When Harry and Marv were in the toy store Marv would have picked up some kind of toy that has a hand at the end of a long stick with a trigger to make the hand close. Marv puts it in his jacket, maybe to scratch an itch or something. And the blonde is right behind him. The hand would be sticking out from behind Marv's jacket and it gropes her. The blonde women turns around and slaps Marv. Which could explain why she punched him later on. Lastly the Pigeon lady, it's revealed that her name is Annie. In the script after Harry and Marv were arrested one of the cops talks to her, as apparently he knows her. He invites her back to the station where they have a party going on. Deciding to take Kevin's advice she accepts and goes with him. And also a couple more additional facts. Apparently when you hear Harry angrily muttering non-coherent words, apparently that was being Joe Pesci was used to swearing in his other films so the director told him to mutter those words instead. Lastly they wanted to quickly start a 3rd movie but Macaulay Culkin declined to do so. So they then decided to make another film with Harry and Marv, this time they would try and rob Kevin's cousin's Fuller's house, played by Culkin's brother. Yet Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern declined being in it.

Marv: 43:36 Me: Ahem. (Harry and Marv turn their attention to me. I smugly show them the ⚠️warning label on the kerosene container. Harry and Marv widen their eyes in sudden realization, and I point down👇 to Kevin and...) Kevin: 43:43

I love this film, I’m 25 and it’s still my favorite movie, the brick scene is glorious. Also I’m convinced anyone born in the 90s is stupid

Trump didn't "ask" for a cameo, that was a stipulation he had for any of his properties. Most who complied had some excuse to cut it. They just forgot here.

The amount of death that should have occurred in this movie. I've seen videos that actually tally up how many times Marv and Harry should have been taken out.
