If I'm honest, I was prepared to stop this video right at the 'snow' section, since I'm not sure I can justify adding an extra few hundred dollars to an already expensive purchase...but your thorough explanation of the technology has me geeking out over here, and I couldn't stop watching. Great video.

Thank you excellent review. Extremely helpful. I am 235 Lbs my wife is 150 lbs. The wave is very high on our list. We both have hip issues and she has had 2 lower back operations. Thanks again.

I am wondering if the Snow technology might be too cooling for the average sleeper. Also, would the holes they drill in the foam layers make those layers more susceptible to breaking down over time? Thank you for providing such helpful videos.

Hi there -- Great question re: the cooling. In spite of the very cold-sounding name ("Snow"), I don't think that would be a problem. The way it works is by conducting heat away from your body. So the more heat your body produces, the more heat can/will be conducted away. But by the same token, the opposite is also true. So if your body is producing less heat, less heat will be conducted away. Since it's based on what your body is doing, it is inherently self-modulating. I hope that makes sense. Re: the foam layers, in general I do sometimes have concerns about the durability impact of convoluted foam (eg, what is shown at 15:17 in the video). But in this case the convolutions are shallow, not tall skinny peaks like with egg-crate foam, so it doesn't give me a lot of concern. With regards to the vertical holes (aka "pincore holes") in the foam, those are much too small to have any impact on durability IMO. I hope that's helpful.

thank you for the quick reply. I have a New question pertaining to the Casper select hybrid 12” versus the Casper select memory foam 12”. Do you have an opinion on which one would be more firm? Thanks again!

Would have liked to have you comment on the different feel of the Snow versions compared to non Snow; they definitely do feel different, regardless of what the company reps say.

Hi there -- Thanks for your comment. It should be noted that since this was an overview video, we did not perform our full in-depth review process on all of these models. That said, I don't recall picking up on a huge difference in feel (apart from cooling aspects) between a Snow model and its non-Snow counterpart. How would you characterize the way (and degree) that the Snow option changes the feel of a given model? Is it more about surface softness? Sinkage? Conformance? Memory feel? Also, I assume you are basing this on two models that you were able to compare side by side in a Casper store? I'm sure others reading this will find your feedback useful as well.

@@goodbed Good reply, thanks. Yeah, we compared them side by side in a Casper store--the snow definitely felt firmer, not as much surface give. Can't say my brain got more detailed than that, just "we want the softer one." Felt like an obvious difference to both me and my wife. The Casper salesperson in the store at the time confirmed she had chosen the non snow herself for that reason. Now our local store has gotten the non snow off the testing floor, and a different salesperson insists there is no difference in feel, now that they can no longer be directly compared. You did a good review overall.

What is the depth of the 2022 Wave Hybrid? Is it less deep than the 2020 Wave Hybrid? How do their layers differ?

Hi Jane. Thanks for the question. We have not done an in-depth review on the Wave Hybrid. We have reviewed both the old and new versions of the all-foam Wave, and the two do share similar construction with the exception of the support unit. Here's our video -- and we do talk extensively about what changed: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2G5Y3iejqaEbNE Hope that helps!

Hi there -- Thanks for your comment. Out of curiosity, would you mind letting us know what value would that information have for you? I ask because we've actually had a lot of internal discussion over the years about how much of that type of information to include in our editorial coverage. The main argument against it has been that it's not a very useful frame of reference for most people, since anyone who bought the previous generation is unlikely to be shopping for a new mattress again so soon. Or if they are, it's because the one they bought before didn't work out for them, so they would be unlikely to be looking at a model from the same brand anyway. And of course, since our content is already far more in-depth than anything else available, we are leary to weigh it down with any details that aren't essential to the average shopper. So even though we find that type of information interesting ourselves, we've generally come down on the side of including less of it.

@@goodbed hey thanks for the reply, not sure why my youtube didnt give me a notification. I am interested because it is a saving, Casper ussually have a clearance sale on their previous model, and I save almost $1500 on previous year model on a perfectly good mattress, but I dont know what I am missing if I got the current model. I am thinking of switching my current Casper Wave all foam and try out the Wave hybrid snow. I am looking at the Wave Snow hybrid today and I'm thinking how it would differ from my all foam casper wave, is it a good enough to upgrade (especially that snow technology). I wouldnt throw my current Casper wave perhaps that will go in the guest room.
