Hello! Regarding the newly added 5-zone support layer in the LuxeAdapt mattress, is it symmetrical from head to toe? I noticed one diagram showing its core positioned in the center, which is relatively firm and supports the hip area. However, another diagram indicates that the hips are placed in a softer region. These two diagrams seem contradictory. If the mattress is symmetrical and interchangeable, it should align with the first scenario.
@goodbed7 ай бұрын
This is something we noticed as well. You have a very good eye! So we believe this is a symmetrical five-zone poly foam layer in the style of most five-zone mattress layers -- ie, with the center zone positioned in the middle of the mattress and squarely under a person's hips. The one image showing otherwise is likely to be a mistake, in our opinion. With regards to your other question - this version is very near to the last generation, but with the addition of this five-zone poly foam layer to allow for additional conformance and support.

I would be saving almost $3000 to buy the floor model but if there is enough of a difference I would wait for the new line... What are your thoughts?
@goodbed8 ай бұрын
Hi Michael -- There may be a few things to factor in here: 1. The difference between 1.0 and 2.0 2. The difference between a floor model and a new model 3. The difference in the return policy for the floor model vs a new model 4. The difference in warranty support for the floor model vs a new model IMHO, #1 is not enough to pay an extra $3,000. However, #2 could be very significant, and in many cases would be worth an extra $3,000 on its own. And of course, #3 and #4 are also relevant factors to consider, since floor models typically don't have any kind of return policy, and may or may not even come with a normal warranty. One thing Im wondering, then I swear ill try to have more positive things to say in future comments, is how much will the reduction in quality in the polyfoam support and transition layers on tempurs effect the overall reliability. Ive read that they used to include 2.2lb foam for these layers in their beds, but now its all only 1.6lb poly. To me when youre sending upwards of $5k on some of these Tempur beds, to only have 1.6lb poly is kind of cheaping out on the customer. I do realize it's usually the comfort layers which go out on you first, and they still mostly use very high quality 4.8-5.5lb memory foam there with the exception of their entry level line of beds. I wonder if this is something where they just felt like 1.6lb poly is good enough to outlast the comfort layer. I actually like Tempur as a bed, just feel they are a bit overpriced and at that price point their customers deserve the highest quality foams.

They literally put the same product back out with adding a hybrid, which should’ve always been there in the luxe line. An adding a new layer of foam in pro adapt and up are the only changes of note. A very uninspiring, apathetic effort from Sealy-Tempur.
@goodbed8 ай бұрын
Hey there! We can understand some frustration here (sometimes "new" is very exciting and it can be disappointing when a new release doesn't look so new), but we'd also make the point that there are some distinctly new things in these models. Here's a quick list. 1. There have been some subtle tweaks to existing foams to improve pressure relief and diminish heat retention. 2. There is a relatively new foam in the Hybrid Material. We first saw this on last year's Breeze update, and it's now being used more broadly on select hybrid models. 3. The LuxeAdapt Hybrid has a unique coil-on-coil design that's distinctly different from the Adapt and ProAdapt Hybrids. 4. The LuxeAdapt Soft and Firm now also have a zoned transition foam to allow for a little more conformance and support. So there've been a few subtle changes to the Adapt and ProAdapt models and a few major ones to the LuxeAdapt line. You should be able to read more about these in our written overviews linked above. I hope that's helpful.

Not real transparent if I’m being honest. What confuses me in your rating scale is that it is the opposite of what seems to be the standard 1-10 scale used by mattress companies-I.e., 1-3 is soft, 4-6 is medium firmness, and 7-10 is the firm. In my opinion, if you used the same 1-10 scale for your Softness rating, a firm rating would be between 7-10; in the video you rated the softness of the mattress you were on as 1 saying it was firm on the softness scale. I think that’s confusing.
@goodbed9 сағат бұрын
Hi there, thanks for your feedback. I do understand that it can be frustrating for our scale to be different. FWIW, there are a few reasons we do it this way. First, in the construction of a mattress, "firmness" is not a feature -- it is the absence of a feature. If you were truly maximizing firmness, you would just sleep on the floor with no mattress at all. So, assigning a low number to a mattress that has a lot of something and a high number to a mattress that has a little just doesn't make intuitive sense. The other reason we don't use a "firmness" scale is that the word "firm" can be very confusing and misleading for mattress shoppers. We've seen countless people make the mistake of buying a "firm" mattress thinking that when it comes to mattresses, "firm" simply means "good" or "good support." The reality is that what the industry today calls a "firm" mattress is about comfort, not support. Good support can be found on both "firm" and "soft" mattresses, and in fact some people will not actually be able to get the proper spinal alignment they need (let alone pressure relief, comfort, etc.) on a "firm" mattress. Knowing this, we felt that giving firmer mattresses a higher rating would make them seem "better" and therefore would lean into that confusion. Unfortunately, the backstory here is that about 10 years ago, a bunch of people who knew nothing about mattresses started websites to review mattresses. Knowing nothing, they thought firm really did mean good, so they created "firmness" scales. And they proceeded to blanket the internet with this flawed concept to the point that many manufacturers today have even followed suit, as you noted. But this is not how the industry used to think about this. And in our humble opinion, having been doing this longer than anyone on the internet (since 2008), it is not the right way to think about it. Net, we do things differently than other sites because we know more than them about mattresses, and we actually care about making sure our readers pick the right mattress. This example you cited is just one of many. Another obvious one you may have noticed is that we are the only mattress information website that doesn't publish "best mattress" lists. Mattresses are an extremely personal product, meaning the best mattresses for me will be very different from the best ones for you. Thus, any "best mattress" list is both meaningless and highly misleading -- and that's to say nothing of the fact that every one of those review sites simply sells the spots on their lists to the brands who pay them the most money. Anyway, I'm sure that's way more than you ever wanted to know , but hopefully you can at least appreciate that we do in fact have a thoughtful rationale for why we do things the way we do. Thanks again for your comment.

MLily and Tempur are not the same. Tempur is way better

@@johnyang1420 We do think Tempur uses unique memory foams and is generally hard to match, yep.
@datamesh84184 ай бұрын
All good but the memory feel rating was based on the thickness of the foam but not how it felt to you. The number is unimportant compared to what it actually feels like and the 2 are not necessarily equivalent.
@goodbed4 ай бұрын
Hi there -- Thanks for your comment. I'm not sure where you got that impression, however our Memory Feel ratings are all based entirely on the feel of the memory foam, not the amount of it. The amount of memory foam plays into the feel of course, but often it's not as important as the nature of that memory foam and how responsive it really is. This is why sometimes a mattress with, say, one inch of high-density, slow-responding memory foam can be rated to have more Memory Feel in our assessments than a mattress with, say, 3 inches of quick-recovery lower-density memory foam. I hope that's helpful.

can you use a box spring with these mattresses
@goodbed4 ай бұрын
Hi Bill, you can use a "foundation" - and Tempur sells matching foundations to go with their mattresses. You can also put these on any kind of solid platform or adjustable base. However you cannot use an old-school "box spring" (ie, one that actually has springs in it), because that will not provide adequate underlying support for this style of mattress. I hope that's helpful.

@@goodbed well i was speaking about box springs made on wood just not solid all the way across
@goodbed4 ай бұрын
@@billl1451 OK, got it. Just FYI, the term "box spring" refers specifically to the old kind of mattress foundation that was literally a wood box with springs in it. In any case, the key determinant for use of a modern wooden foundation will be how structurally solid it is and how close together are the wood slats going across the top of it (gaps of 3" or less should be OK). I hope that's helpful.

Where is the review of the Active Breeze?

That one should be coming in a bit! Using a coil unit as a ventilated air chamber is a fascinating and innovative bit of design and we can't wait to test it in a more significant capacity. So yeah, we're excited about it too.

Where can someone get a Tempur-Pedic pro adapt medium hybrid at a close out sale price? Maybe for model
@goodbed8 ай бұрын
I'd look around at most stores near to you? Nearly everyone will be phasing these out right now.

I just purchased two Twin XL Adaptpro Medium Hybrids today and Innova bases for a Split King. I hope I made a wise decision. I have 3 diseased and damaged discs in my back with nerve pain throughout my back, legs, and hips. I have had several people recommend this line of mattresses to me.

What do you suggest for side sleepers with really bad lower back pain?
@goodbed29 күн бұрын
It really depends on what's causing the back pain. If your current mattress is worn out or unsupportive in general, then you might just need a new mattress. However, if you want extra support in your lower back, then you might want to look at mattresses with some amount of "zoning," or reinforced support in the middle third of the mattress. Serta's new models all have some amount of this, as does Tempur's LuxeAdapt collection. Many other online brands have hybrids with some amount of zoned support - some of these are included in the link below. Where do the newer supreme costco models land? its a newer supreme.. but has the classic 11.5 profile.. theres a hybrid option in medium.
@goodbed5 ай бұрын
So we've discussed the Costco Supreme line internally, and some of the choices there don't make a ton of sense to us? Namely, they seem to reverse the Comfort and Support layers on these models to keep them distinct from the regular Adapt line. And while this could be a mistake on their website, we generally feel more comfortable recommending the Adapt models for this reason. Otherwise they seem very similar. Hope that helps.

Purchased a Luxe Breeze 2.0 Firm a year ago but is way too firm for me (I have lower back pain and a side/back sleeper). I’m going to give it to my brother and looking at the Luxe Adapt Hybrid Medium or Luxe Breeze Hybrid Medium. Is the $1300 worth the cooling technology? Also is a medium Hybrid good for pain relief over a Firm Memory Foam? Thanks 🙏

Just wondering whats the version on market verses the version in Costco?
@goodbedАй бұрын
So this is a question we get sometimes and it's a little difficult to answer as we don't have accurate specs on the Costco models. That said, if we go by the diagrams on the Costco pages it appears that the memory foam layers have been reversed on their models. As such we have more confidence in recommending the more widely available Tempur line. Hope that helps!
