First message... so sorry to Mayim and family for the loss of Leslie he was a true one of a kind gem to the earth, bless all who knew him... my mom was Cassandras friend in Colorado back in the 70s and always told me she was the sweetest and funniest girl she ever met. I wish I could meet her some day, I'm so grateful she has been entertaining us for over 40 years

I was able to meet Leslie a few years back and he was so WONDERFUL. I told him about the show I wanted to make and he loved it. He asked questions, laughed and told me I HAD to make my show so I promised I'd never give up on it. He just made me promise to keep him in mind when I started casting so I wrote a role just for him but he'll never get to be in it, now. I'm not having any luck getting people to listen to me, anyway. Ive ALWAYS loved Elvira and as a kid, I never considered the sex appeal. I just liked her because she seemed funny and really nice. My dad met her once and he said she was super nice and even joked around with him. I'm glad the description of her matches your mom's description. Too many awful, rude celebrities now...

I agree about Leslie. I love him on all the shows he was on…especially Call Me Kat…and Mayim’s interview with him was the best!! I totally fell in love with him as a human being…his story is amazing. One of the very best humans to grace the planet and so sorry he is gone. What a shame.

Elvira has always been a hysterically funny inspiration to me, but Cassandra really blows me away in all her beautiful dimensions. She's as wonderfully free and energetic as her character, but grounded with incredible wisdom. And she shows that beauty is timeless. I loved how Mayim interviewed her and the love Mayim showed her. What a wonderful conversation. I felt like I was in the living room with both of you. You both rock!

I'm so shocked! I was aware that Elvira had "made a comeback" recently (I'd heard of her book and had seen her on the Halloween baking shows), and I was *convinced* that it was a new woman playing the character. To learn that it's the SAME woman as when Elvira was a thing in my youth (back in the 80s or so), is so shocking! WOW! Amazing. I'm definitely going to check out her book.

I didn’t read Elvira’s new book…I listened to it on Audible. My strong recommendation is - listen to Cassandra talk about her life … the book becomes alive, and was most enjoyable. If you can’t afford Audible, check out your public library and check it out there. It was a WONDERFUL listen! 🎉

Firstly, I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend, Leslie Jordon. I became familiar with Cassandra Peterson while on a trip to San Francisco while serving in the Marines as a bandsman. A bunch of us were in the tv room of our barracks watching her show. Everyone, including me, thought she was drop-dead gorgeous (much nicer term than what they said). Everyone in the room was describing in very lurid details what they want to do with 'The Mistress. However, when one of my buddies asked me what would I do if I met her, I said, "I think she'd be cool to hang out with and chill out over a couple of beers." The entire room went silent. They stared at me as if I had grown a horn in the middle of my forehead.

She's 71 FFS!!! I am nine years younger and I look 20 years older. I have been a fan since the first day I ever saw her, and it's been so long now that I couldn't even begin to tell you when that was. I am sure she's had work done, but it's so well executed that you can't tell. Or maybe she hasn't. I am still in touch with a lot of my high school classmates, and most of us look our age (or like me, older). But there are a couple of exceptions. Several of us look 10-20 years younger than the rest of us, and I guarantee none of them have had work done; we're not those kind of people. I love everything about her, well beyond her outer beauty. That's just the icing on the cake. She seems so real, despite her celebrity status.

Sending you love and lots of comforting hugs for the loss of your friend and colleague. Leslie was joy and light himself. He’ll be missed. A lot. For everybody. 💔 Said that it touched me a lot how Cassandra meet her partner thinking of her as “the bad boy” at the gym and how she fell in love with her after a long term hetero marriage. It’s the living example of the fluidity of gender and that we fall in love with persons, in its beutiful and more wide meaning. Binary is an immense shade of greys and we fall for the souls with that powerful sexual organ we all have: our brains. Kudos too to her words against patriarchy and defending women rights remembering Masha Amini. Great episode. As usual.

Talking about pregnancy and body image, what's funny is I think Elvira ages like fine wine. Honestly, I think she's more attractive the older she gets. Also, talking about women and what they wear and the uninvited situations that may come with it - I love that in the 1st Elvira film the new station manager tries to take advantage of Elvira and she tells him off! Same for the guys in the bar. Some friends and I watched haunted hills and the loved it. We were almost on the floor with laughter. It was cool to show the movie to people unfamiliar with Elvira and have them really get it, it probably helps we were all in the Rocky horror picture show at the community theater haha

I loved how she embraced her character. It has to be one of the most memorable characters I that I will ever remember. It turns out she was always a wonderful person as well. I didn’t know about her partner until maybe a year ago. That didn’t change anything as far as being a fan. If anything it just solidified the fact no matter what you do in life as a profession having a happy personal life is important. As a kid I had a huge crush on her and after growing up and learning more about who she was as a person I like her even more. Sometimes when you learn more about who some of these famous people it just destroys everything you felt or feel about them. She is one of the few you end up liking more because of how wonderful they are as a person in real life. Love to all of her family and loved ones. She will always be a shining star!

I know that “the show must go on” even in the saddest moments. I know the “Spooky Season” is on. But this podcast’s former guest, friend & colleague of Mayim Leslie Jordan died yesterday. Somehow, even if I know that most episodes are shot & scheduled yet, I was expecting here a kind of homage to him reposting his episode. Or maybe no episode at all. Man! I had the biggest crush on Cassandra Peterson back then. I was in my late teens and also a vocalist, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist musician, playing in rock bands. And I had told one of the members of the bands that I was in that if we ever get signed on a major record label and have a few hit songs, I want to go and meet Elvira. It was not only that she was so pretty, but she was also so funny as well. I'm sure that it was the character she played so she probably didn't really act like that, but I didn't know that at the time. I just kept thinking, how can somebody be both that beautiful and also that funny. I just got to meet her if the band is successful. But she surely seems like a super cool person even off screen.

Confidence: there is something to be said for young people, even kids, being able to do something because they don't realize they aren't supposed to be able to. That's typically used in regards to athletics, but it applies in other areas, as well. Confidently staking out some territory often leads to other people subconsciously acquiescing that space to whomever claimed it. "How do they get away with that?" "Oh, that's just the way they are." Cassandra as Elvira claimed a space so confidently that people simply accepted that she was supposed to be in that space.

And being a 'fly on the wall' while two women have a heart to heart conversation was wonderfully refreshing from most of the other KZbin drivel. And what wonderful candor!!! My spouse just retired after teaching at University for 40+ years. She's trying hard to recalibrate to retirement. Fortunately, I was retired at age 60 (8 years ago) after 7 years 'working from home'. I'm experienced. "Not necessarily stoned, but beautiful." "If you can just get your mind together, then come on across to me. We'll hold hands an' then we'll watch the sun rise, from the bottom of the sea. But first... Are you experienced?" Mayim, YOU are f#cking wonderful! I enjoyed your 'breakdown'. 😁🙏

The situation in Iran Is far worse than just clothing. Women are oppressed on every level. Please use you platform to elevate their voices and learn. I was disappointed when Cassandra Raised the subject and you quickly moved on saying nothing . Women in Iran are worth 1/2 of men, cannot travel without fathers/husbands permission. Cannot have custody of their children if the husband dies you cannot own a pet dog, you cannot sing or dance. And much much more. Please be braver and stand up for them . Be their voice to the world .

it's unfortunate that cassandra gives zero credit to maila nurmi (vampira) for the creation of elvira. i could however imagine that the fact that they clashed in the legal arena might make it tough for her to give a nod to the true creator of this character.
