So, I am 50, and 5 years ago my husband caught me with one of those Tinkle razors trying to "dermaplane" my skin. He looked confused and asked what I was doing with that dinky thing. I explained I was removing peach fuzz and exfoliating my skin. He said he would show me how to do that the right way. He bought me my own man's very nice safety razor and replacemet blades, and we stood at the mirror together and he taught me how to properly shave my face and neck. I have been doing so ever since, and now I don't even wear foundation, just a bit of conealer when needed, and Hourglass powder and blush. People compliment me all the time, and I know it is because of plain old shaving and skincare. My hubby knew the secret all along! (edit: I shave about once a week...so relaxing!)

That is actually incredibly sweet, also there are male barbers that have started specializing in women’s shaves with straight razors and a few of them have posted videos doing it with a straight razor and it’s so effective you can literally see the skin change color from a dull grey to a luminous beige as he is making the passes on the women’s faces. Your husband totally makes sense. That was absolutely adorable of your husband, my husband can’t use a razor (ginger boy problems) so uses electric, now I’m bummed I can’t ask him. I vote for your hubby doing a how to video, just sayin.

Yep, dermaplaning razors have guards on them which can be helpful but they also keep the blade at a slight distance and can catch on hairs or the skin. Using a bare blade is actually a lot safer and more effective if you use it properly. That’s why you’re seeing more benefits from properly using a men’s safety razor. It’s a bare blade, just like professional esthetics dermaplaning blades (which are literally just a specific scalpel blade) and unlike the “dermaplaning” razors you can buy at the drug store or Sephora or Ulta.

@@carladuglin4036if you are okay going high end, the best safety razor hands down at any price point is the Henson AL13 razor ($69.99 USD) . If you want something a bit more affordable that is only a hair less incredible than Henson, I suggest the Leaf Shave single edge razors ($59.99 USD) (either the twig or the thorn depending on if you only get vellus hair or if you get some coarser hairs as well) but they’re only about $10 cheaper. The real affordability pick (and a long-time cult favorite) is the Albatross Butterfly XL safety razor. At $39.99 USD, it’s $20 cheaper than the Leaf razors and $30 cheaper than Henson making it easily accessible. However, while I think it’s definitely worth the money and is an incredible razor, it’s simply nowhere near the league of the leaf shave razors or Henson. If you buy the albatross razor, you’ll be happy with it but will likely end up wanting to upgrade to Leaf or even Henson at some point, so my personal advice is just to splurge off the bat and go for the Leaf or Henson razors. They’ll last you the rest of your life and you’ll be very VERY satisfied with either of the two brands.

If you have sensitive skin, I recommend Olay retinol 24 (not the MAX one), it’s so gentle and really works. I put my Cetaphil gentle moisturizer on thin, use the Olay (put little dot all over the face and use one or two finger tips to tap the product onto the skin gently - retinol can be broken down quickly, so always be gentle, tap it on, and never wipe like you normally would, to maximize the potential of the product and keep your skin happy). Make sure to put it on the front of your neck, on your chest, and on the back of your neck, of course. Important to be smart about retinol.

I used to do my derma planning at an expert. she would prepare my skin: double cleanse, steam, extraction of impurities, wipe again, then dermaplan, seal with a mask topped up with a led light and finally serum , moisturize and sunscreen.

when you shave you only cut off the top of the hair so the entire thing is still under the skin. So therefore the oil would still get out through the hair. Unless you wax, this idea doesn't apply.

I dermaplaned for a year with no problems. The last time, I broke out in these little bumpy things on my cheeks that look like milia.I could not get rid of them. Two dermatologists said they would have to pop them or I could use BHAs, Tret, yada yada. Still not difference. Once in a while, one becomes like a pimple and pops. When I had my eyebrows micro bladed, the woman said maybe a facial would help to open them up. I am at wits end because I had smooth skin, just a hairy beast. lol. Anyone else have this happen and make them go away? ps: Dont dermaplane at home.

Men shave pretty much every day for decades, it's not harmful to their skin. Plus, I'm a woman with very thick, dark facial hair and I've been shaving for 20+ years every single day because it grows that fast, and my skin is just fine. Alot of women with facial hair (more than the peach fuzz white women get) don't have many fast and cheap options. Waxing hurts, can get messy, takes time, may cause wrinkles or irritation etc. Nair burned the piss out of my face. Electrolysis is expensive. Just let women shave for crying out loud. Very annoying that typical western European looking women tell the darker ones to stop doing a thing

Not an expert, but if it harms your skin every time, I would skip it all together. Dermaplaning is usually done for exfoliation, so exfoliating your skin beforehand I would think that it's too much, especially if you have sensitive skin

Yeah, sorry, but when you dermaplane, aka shave, you just cut the hair of at the surface. Which means, the sebum can still travel along the left over hair shaft TO the surface. You are not ripping it out of it's follicle. So this part is nonsensical.

Are you just cursing to curse? My daughter is getting into skincare, so I started showing her videos from your channel, but this isn't gonna work. I appreciate that you bleeped the curse words out every 3 and a half seconds, but we still know what you're saying of course. Sometimes you curse a bit, but this time it kind of seemed like you were swearing just to swear. It felt forced and excessive. It didn't come across as the "cool and hip" skincare KZbinr. Is this gonna be like part of your "identity" or "brand" now? I hope this was a one off, because I was a fan, but I think you are excluding a potential audience. Especially because some of your videos seem to be targeted to an audience that isn't in their teens.

Lol, skincare isn't meant for kids. Anyone who is old enough to be using skincare is old enough to tolerate censored swearing. Not to mention, if your daughter has any access to the internet, regulated or not, I have no doubts she's heard worse. Of course, I don't know you or your daughter, but in my personal experience, most kids are either swearing or have friends who swear by middle school. I was a "late bloomer" and didn't start swearing till I went to college, and most of my friends thought I was weird for it. If it's that big of a problem, then just don't watch, I'm sure there are plenty of other skincare people out there who are actually aiming their content towards kids.

@@galacticgardevoir9496 I have no doubt that my daughter is exposed to swearing, she's not a young child. Starting to care for your skin with good habits and scientifically proven advice should start at about her age anyway, but that's not the point. There is a ton of terrible skincare advice on the internet, particularly on KZbin. I'd like to teach my daughter to take advice from reputable sources. It confuses the lesson when you have an actual knowledgeable person, who has decided for some reason to try her best to talk just like a viral "clickbait skincare influencer" from TikTok. On a short TikTok video it doesn't seem that weird, but when you're doing longform content on KZbin and you cuss the whole time, it's "like holy shjt, give it a break!" And obviously I could "just not watch", but I have found her information to be solid in the past years I've been watching, long before she started trying to sound trendy and hip. I spoke up because I wanted to know if this was an intentional new change in her brand because maybe views were down, and if she's planning on sticking with it. If so, more power to her, but I think she's alienating potential viewers who might find one of these videos first. I think that's more likely than someone finding this channel and saying I've been looking everywhere for a skin care expert who curses 8 times a minute, I'm definitely subscribing!" And honestly, even if you don't care at all about swearing, the noises she uses to bleep them out are sooooo fūcķińg annoying because it's literally every few seconds. I was listening while I was doing dishes so my hands were wet and I couldn't pause it, and that fūcķińg meowing cat was poking me in the skull.

As someone who's trying to go into the public health feild, please don't think of lymph fluid as stuff stuck in between capillaries - it's there to help move white blood cells, T cells and other immune system cells through the body. While some of these cells also circulate in the bloodstream, the lymphatic system is still their main mode of transport - that's ehy lymph nodes swell sometimes when you're sick - they're swelling so there's more space for the immune cells to pass through so they can get where they're needed faster. That said, excess lymph fluid can accumulate in certain parts of the body if you don't move enough, since as the video said, it's circulated via skeletal muscle movement rather than being pumped by the heart like blood is

I’m not an expert by any means and from my research, I went to a dermatologist at 23 (36 now) and she kindly explained to me there’s a lot I can’t do because I’m a level 4 on the Fitzpatrick scale, like no co2 lasers, plus there’s not much they can do until the acne infection heals for scars. I have ice and rolling scars that stem from abrupt lost of collagen from the acne invasion. With retinal and the like they’ve diminished somewhat. If I start making more money I’ll try Microneedling, in-office to afraid to do at home, also thinking of getting a prescription soon but unfortunately nothing has a 100% success rate. Fillers are a another option for some scars but again too expensive for me. If you’re son has fair to light skin there are more option! I do recommend starting retinol, azelaic acid and a genial aha treatment like Cerave’s nightly exfoliating treatment to help both cure the acne and increase cell turnover. Though if you son has darker skin like me or darker I wouldn’t recommend a high percentage of gylcolic acid. Hope that was at least somewhat helpful!

Most people just do things to themselves without taking proper steps. If you're going to dermaplain, make sure the razor is new and then throw it out after one use. Wash your face with a cleanser afterwards, spray some hypochlorous acid, make sure you're exfoliating at least once a week. Keep those pores clean!

Dermaplaning breaks me out, I get cuts since my skin being like how you explain yours "feels like sourbread" AND doing my upper lip caused nearly instant shadowing. Sooo, since year, it looks like I have a stache now 😑 Azealic acid and other OTC products have not fixed it.
@leeknowspudding0
@leeknowspudding0 3 ай бұрын
The shadowing might be from cutting the hair. Usually the "tip" of your hair is very fine but if you shave it you have a clean cut that can make the hair appear thicker or darker. So maybe you could try waxing it once so that the hair can start growing again and not look as dark

That does make sense, though I hadn't had any shadowing before this. I dermaplaned randomly for a "self-care" day and have had the shadowing ever since 🫤 Waxing, shaving or dermaplaning isn't something I do

I damaged my skin with retinol and vitamin c it’s taken a year to get anywhere near back to where I was. Personally I’m not going to shave, or using these things again. The problem is that it’s sold over the counter cheaply and no one tells you it can be dangerous. How many people will be listening to this video.

Last time I did gua sha was 31/10/2023. I did it say too aggressively. First of november, I woke up crying with the most horrific toothache I've ever had. I had to get an emergency dental appt, went on antibiotics and was in absolute agony for four days. I had no idea it was meant to be done gently, so thank you for educating me. Would you consider doing a video on how to do it your way? Many thanks and big hugs.

the saddest thing about retinols for me is people being brainwashed to think you HAVE to use tons, and they're like 'yeah your skin is supposed to all fall off that's how you know it's working' and it's like babes no!!!

Once, I made a terrible mistake by combining all of these steps. I steamed my face, then scrubbed it with an expensive microfoliant, followed by shaving. After that, I applied a clay mask, rinsed it off, and used a sheet mask. To top it off, I used tretinoin as a beginner and finished with moisturizer. I was horrified by the outcome that night. Thankfully, my skin didn't react too severely, although it did cause some pimples and was very dry and painful.

I had problems when shaving the sides of my face, literally the driest place of my combination skin - red and slightly itchy bumps would appear that only responded to topical steroids. This happened with a normal wet razor or with a dry eyebrow razor. Seems like an eyebrow razor with aloe gel or baby powder does the trick. I also have peach fuzz on my lower back, and each mechanical method of removal left me with even bigger red and very itchy bumps. So now I do IPL without shaving it, because it's a bit dark.

No hagas eso. Limpia y hidrata bien tu piel. Intenta comer sano.

My skin has been acne prone all my life (I'm 30) but I've begun to notice that 1 to 2 weeks after dermaplaning I break out like crazy and if I don't do it my skin is unbelievably smooth, not even a single zit and redness free (i have rocesea too) the reaction wasn't immediate so it took me months to notice that the razor is the culprit. I just kept thinking that the breakouts are because of my usual acne prone skin and hormones or some skincare product having a bad reaction . I'm relieved but also lowkey mad tho, because what I will do about the peach fuzz now😂

I’m 37 yet too scared to buy any direct form of retinoid or direct unstable form of Vitamin C. Although I’ve only been through 1 or 3 periods of full-on severe breakouts (requiring medical visits). Other times I dealt mostly with low-level cystic acne. I did see a dermatologist for it. Once it cleared, I stopped treatment. However, for the last few years, I have been dealing with hyperpigmentation. I am too afraid to advance my own treatment. I hope to be guided by my dermatologist to advance me to the stage...

I get my face waxed and i love it. I tried dermaplaning a few times but I couldn’t quite get the hand off it. Also i dont have great eye sight so its better if someone does it for me, i know its a lot more expensive getting someone else to do it but i dont do much luxury things and i really relax when i get it done. I dont have oily skin so i dont get any problems. My face skin is the most thing i get complimented on and i think its part to do with waxing coz it would also get rid of some dead skin cells.
