I live in Japan and I haven't seen any large amounts of affordable British cheese in any of the supermarkets. Costco Japan has started selling a fair amount, but it's still too expensive, so I just buy American cheddar/cheese instead. Most Japanese supermarkets still sell slivers of any cheeses, foreign or otherwise, for silly money.
