@@sevengrapes-gi1io Exactly 🤣. Sam has taken 90s, 2000's HighSchool drama and flipped it on it's head. The main cast are the small percentage of the school's student population. People talk about the kids not having notes or bookbags, but that is just the characters at the forefront. The background actors are now the ones carrying copious school material. Back in the day, the production would just focus on the main cast showing up in backpacks and folders. This shows pin points the extreme disconnect that the other population of students experience with reality in school.

I just want to remind everyone that this is a high school themed show, so the characters are still in that teenage mentality where they’re literally looking for themselves and their worth. When you’re in high school more than half the girls will always bend over backwards for any guy because the attention is new, and it becomes like an addiction to keep it going. They will turn to whatever guys they can to get that attention, even if it’s their best friends ex. Why do you think there’s so much drama with girl best friends in HIGH SCHOOL.

@SaffariRose2 жыл бұрын
@@disco_depression Good for you! Self care is important, even it's just the basics. I think it's respectful to yourself and others in general. Though to be fair, men's grooming doesn't usually take that long. Women's grooming on the other hand has a lot of layers and steps so it could realistically take that long especially if she doesn't do it everyday and hasn't learn't short cuts. On the other hand, it's least likely you'd even know she did all that unless she (or her friends) tells you because when she eventually starts to date you, she'll gradually go back to her normal self. So no need to feel too guilty, not unless you only like her for her looks, lol. It's just the fact that we feel we even have to do all that just to get noticed that I think is pretty sad. We often emphasize or project the wrong things to get attention that doesn't usually last long and then feel like shit about it when it's gone!

In my personal opinion this whole situationship Cassie has with Nate, just shows her traumatic experience with her father. Her mom was always jealous because he looked very handsome and women were easily drawn to him. This conveyed to Cassie that you have to fight for a man‘s attention. Secondly after her parents divorced she suffered due to her father‘s emotional and physical absence. She longed for her father‘s love and when he didn’t come to pick her and Lexi up for weekend, she must felt really abandoned and this definitely took a knock down on her confidence and self-worth. I think that her father‘s absence created this void in Cassie and know she tries to fill that void with alcohol and her toxic situationship with Nate. She projects her experience with her father onto Nate and now she tries everything to keep him (Nate) because she fears to be abandoned again. It’s so sad and I really hope that in the upcoming episodes Cassie gets the therapy and help she needs
@liliaxo31362 жыл бұрын
totally agree and i would like to add that it’s also because she feels like where she is at with nate is much better than where she’s at with her dad because nate is actually THERE and compared to her never physically seeing her dad, and that’s more than enough to keep fighting for nate.

You can slowly see she starts to descend into actual madness. At first, she does it to achieve the goal of attention (and she technically goes on throughout looking for it as well), but as she trys & fails to get the attention, the "ritual" becomes comforting as a sense of control, but the more she fails, the more compulsive it gets. the more fervent she gets for the release of looking her best. Finally getting his attention wont be enough though, now that shes gotten that taste, she will do whatever needs to be done to achieve the feeling and result she wants. Extending the time, making the ritual more impactful and drastic, losing the focus she had on anything else before -especially maddy- outside of how to look like maddy

This cycle only stops when we realizes that passion makes us idealize somebody. And This idealization makes us create expectations... But what that person really shows to us in real life is what matters, not a idealization we creates for what the person can be. Be > can be

i hate how relatable this was. the obsession. the anxiety over every minor detail. the borderline panic attack when the person you're doing it for doesn't even look at you or acknowledge your presence. but still doing everything you can because maybe, just maybe, he'll notice you tomorrow. maybe you just didn't put your hair right or you put to much perfume on. how EVERYTHING matters. and even if he doesn't care, you'll keep doing it because maybe he'll see your dedication and pick you.

I honestly feel bad for everyone who found Cassie's routine “relatable". It shouldn't ever have to be this way for any of you, y'all deserve better than to just sit in hopes for a person to notice you. The burden is simply way too much.
@INTJ_5w44 ай бұрын
I do believe that it's important to look well, it helps with getting the other person's attention. However, looks won't make them stay for too long. Personality is also incredibly important. Cassie was trying too hard, while Maddie was just being herself. Maddie knows how to flirt and seduce. Which is why in the end Cassie couldn't keep Nate for too long. Looks can only sustain a relationship if you sleep with the person a lot, if you say "no" then you end up becoming useless to them. Men also need mental stimulation. Thus, all this obsession with appearance is worthless if there is no more to it. If you're not interesting, funny, seductive, etc. Then, all that time invested goes to waste.

This is not all high school girls. I think that a lot of this goes to how parents raised their kids. I was told young by both my parents and my sisters of my worth. I valued myself as a person and valued the goodness of others due to how I was raised. Not one person that I know or myself would ever do anything like this. Let’s start uplifting our young people. For real. Some people are quick to just blame it on "Society" when in reality it tends to stem from the neglect of their parents and them ultimately feeling the need to find validation in other things. If they were raised better and were constantly given proper guidance about life and good feedback about themselves by their parents, teens will often-times RARELY end up like this.

As realistic as Euphoria can get (minus all the overdramaticized moments and themes) I very much agree with this! I hate how people perceive real life highschoolers (at least before tiktok decided to ruin everyone under 17 during the pandemic) as the same characters from Euphoria when there are still genuinely good teens out there who would rather not do things like this because their parents raised them properly and taught them the right things. I and a whole lot of my other classmates and even other students (I’m in first year college now) from past to present aren’t even as messed up as people have perceived everyone to be nowadays 😭 it’s either we get drunk for no reason or get a proper ass whoopin at home tbh. Also, good apples and bad apples exist. Why generalize and mix the good apples with the bad ones too? Like,, is it bad that good and well-mannered teens exist?? 😭 Can’t we be wild when it’s legal in college instead?

All jokes aside. “Daddy issues” are a real thing for girls and women too. And can have long lasting effects throughout our lives if we aren’t aware or don’t tend to the internal issue. And Cassie’s character is a very good example of this. Edit: Rue also suffers from daddy issues in a sense. Should we all dislike her character for being a drug addict? Or should we empathize with the fact that girl is suffering from her father’s death and it turned her to do drugs? Y’all are really so terrible for never ever trying to understand the pain of other’s. People cry out for help in different ways. I promise you no one WANTS to be a drug addict, no one wants to be in a toxic abusive relationship. They want something else that they lost. And they’re seeking it in a different way or trying to disguise a certain pain. It’s so ridiculous to me how you guys pick & choose who deserves empathy and who doesn’t. Cassie needs therapy and help, the way she views and validates herself is linked to how boys view her. And this all happened because she is beautiful. Lexi is luckier in the sense that she got to be just herself without being tied to guys because she wasn't conventionally beautiful by society's standards. She doesn't care that Nate is an abuser/psycho and her being in love with him makes no sense. It's not her fault but she needs someone to talk her out of this behavior before it's too late.

@@captainwartburger2571 I don't think any of the characters are unattractive either tbh! I think they meant the fact she possesses a lot of traits that fall more in line with Western beauty standards is what makes Cassie the "more attractive" sister. Both characters are played by conventionally attractive actresses in my opinion, but the differences in how they dress and do hair/makeup for each actress probably play into why Lexi's made to seem "unattractive," relative to Cassie. I adore Sydney Sweeney, but I wish shows didn't always fall in line with this white and blonde beauty standard.
@Thesilentvoice...2 жыл бұрын
@@captainwartburger2571 Lexi is attractive, I never said she wasn't, I just focused more on the issue at hand. She's even as stunning as Cassie (or more in my opinion) but she isn't sexualized. That's the difference. Fez likes Lexi for who she is and her beauty, while Cassie has none of that from any guy. She was herself, and Cassie hasn't had the chance to do that or explore who she is without guys attached to her. First Mkay, then Nate. My point is she is lucky to not be tied to her looks, she's dynamic. Many girls/women can't run away from their beauty because society only sees them for one thing. While girls like Lexi who are beautiful but overlooked due to who they are get the chance to develop a personality that's true to them and not tied to men/being attractive. I am a black woman too but you got to remember black girls/women are on both spectrums, there are many girls who a black like Lexi. And many who are like Maddie and Cassie.

@@captainwartburger2571 As another black woman, I don't think the original statement is quite right either. Lexi has literally all the traits that would make her "conventionally" attractive both in and out of the show. I think it's just a matter of her being overshadowed by her sister, who isn't considered just attractive, but _gorgeous_ and sexy. The "sexy" part is important because Cassie's figure makes her a target for objectification much more than Lexi and has tied into how she views herself. I think that's what OP was getting at.

Everyone is forgetting that Cassie is supposed to have gone through that ab*rtion literally a few weeks ago. I think her attachment to Nate is more just her wanting to go back to who she was before all that… which is why she’s trying to become Maddie, because before all that, Maddie was her equal in the sense that they were two popular teen girls with popular boyfriends. And Nate went after her for a simple reason: pr*dators sense weak prey. She was heartbroken sitting on the curb drunk and who sniffs her out and gives her a reason to be “happy”? Nate. Now of course he’s getting his rocks off bc he is trying to make himself believe “look how great I am I can even come between best friends”, but I mean the inner, subconscious, reason. She was weak. He’s a pr*dator. It’s like a Lion sneaking up after a limping gazelle even though he can get a perfectly healthy one almost as easy. Why waste my energy when I can get what I want (in this case sex and self gratification) in a much easier way? Who cares if I’m going after a weakling? People think it’s shocking and are mad Cassie went with Nate but if you REALLY think about the timeline of events it’s honestly not that crazy. I could be wrong but I don’t think it’s a coincidence.

@@mindingmybusiness3915 Exactly. He doesn't like maddy. He just manipulates her. That scene... The thing that "he looked at cassie because she was dressed like maddy" is not true. He probably looked at her because she is hot. But that what they want us to see: the point of view that cassie has... That scene that she was dressed like maddy. She was the only one who thought that. Her mentality because she was obssesed. Nate doesn't love anyone he's a manupilator narcisisit... Sorry bout my bad english I'm from Spain 🥴

@@irenebeltranlopez215 maybe not in love but manipulators can just as easily become fixated as their victims. He definitely only looked at cassie because she was dressed like maddy or the argument of her being "hot" would've worked all the other days when she was just as hot dressing like Herself. She literally had nearly the exact same outfit. Did her hair the same way and Even did her EDGES the same way maddy does. Only then he noticed her and was seemingly not impressed but more upset. You can see him shake his head in annoyance and exasperation. Manipulators and narcissists can especially become overly attached and obssessed over those they've felt have been able to get away from them and/or they felt have scorned them in some way

Cassie's getting ready routine really shows her character's defining weakness. She lacks self worth. Waking up early to do an extensive self care routine would be admirable, if she was doing it for herself. She's not doing it to keep herself in the best physical condition because she feels she's worth the effort. She's doing it to audition for the approval of others. Taking care of your appearance is great, but every now and then, ask yourself what your motivations are. Who are you doing it for? Are they worth it?

i love the sound design of this sequence the music goes from surreal and flowy to very staccato and intense and the sounds of each of the products and tools she’s using get louder and faster and more pronounced and the whole sound just elicits a sinking feeling + raising anxiety up until she’s noticed by nate and we’re back to flowy and surreal again UGH
