I once went to museum that had an exhibit on dogs hearing- someone walking on a clean, bare floor barely registers to us- to a dog it sounds like they are walking on a floor covered with corn flakes. If you don't feel safe to investigate what the dogs are barking at, get out and call the police while you are running away. Rest in peace Cassie.🌹

You've made an excellent point - "going to be hell if they ever snap out." This seems to be an issue even in less awful circumstances. On a tiny level, I see that from my students who don't feel they deserved less than an A because they likely did work hard or truly felt they met the requirements. I did time in ISCI (for possession) with Brian. I knew he was in for murder, but I never asked him for the details because I didn't want to know. He was a good friend to me- we worked out together, he let me use his mp3 player, let me play his guitar, helped me to accept my situation, etc. I can agree with Mike's assessment that Brian really does feel bad for what he did. It's a long story but I'll leave it at that. Torrey though... I never met him because he was in Max- a completely different yard. That being said, take note: If you notice the later interviews with Brian and Torrey: Brian is wearing a blue collared shirt whereas Torrey is wearing orange. This is because the uniform in ISCI is a blue collared shirt, blue jeans and whatever shoes you can afford. Max inmates on the other hand wear orange scrubs. So Torrey must not have ever improved his behavior- not by the time I hit ISCI anyway. I was shocked to learn the details of Brian's crime (from a podcast) upon my release. It's hard for me to imagine Brian doing those things.. yet apparently he did. All around, it's a heartbreaking story. I feel for the Stoddard family and offer them my sincerest condolences.
@rhondadavis14832 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the update. The way you described Brian is how I had figured it out too. He seems genuinely remorseful. Tory on the other hand has enabling and in denial parents...they are enabling him to not take responsibility and therefore, not change. Only when one is honest with themselves about the depth of depravity they are capable of, can one really be ready to change past behaviors. Prayers for all, including both boys, for healing and change.
@killjoy97972 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the input regarding your knowledge of Brian and the uniform colors. Very interesting. I think it's very telling that Torey isn't a good prisoner. I don't know if I believe Brian has changed. He could be a model prisoner and still have psychopathic traits. Admittedly, his apologizing and acknowledging his crimes is a step in the right direction. Also, Brian didn't ask for sympathy by telling you about his past. He was friendly and helpful with you and wasn't expecting anything in return. That's a clear sign of maturity. As for Torey, he seems like a coward and an instigator. The type who expects to be coddled regardless of how egregious his actions. Mr. and Mrs. Adamcik don't want to face the fact that they raised a monster. Good luck to you now and in the future.

To these two horrible guys, talking about her as a girl was linked to their plans to kill her. What is that about????? Torey's parents are two really sad people. They're not only in denial about what their son did, but they delude themselves into believing they love him. They don't love him. Love is accepting someone's faults, acknowledgeding who they are(good or bad) and loving them in spite of that. They're in love with some idealized fantasy of their son. Something he never was, and likely never will be. The guy's a murderer. An unrepentant one at that. If they really loved him they'd admit that to themselves and stop pandering to his delusions.

I really hope they are never released (even if prison is too soft for them). They both have psychopath faces and ONLY want to be paroled one day (Brian by saying he is a better person / Torey by denying).

Weird, today I just started reading "the Guilty Innocent" by Shannon Adamcik. I'm 20 pages in, and the denial the woman is in is blatant already. Thanks for covering this Mike, love your work.

First thing after viewing That Chapter I went to the bathroom and actually tried saying let's give it a goo in front of the mirror in the dark (and illuminated) but I kept chuckling and giggling every time. Couldn't give one goo to save my life but to be honest and in all fairness the devil's lettuce might've been involved. We've laughed our asses off and feeling great! Many thanks for that. Great episode mate, as per usual.

Kids killing kids, sad world. This story has always stuck with me for some reason, every detail, it makes me super sad to be honest. She had her whole life ahead of her, if only she took up the offer of staying over her boyfriends that night, maybe she would still be alive. :'(

I'm actually really surprised she didn't call her parents or her aunt and uncle. I used to babysit and house sit as a teen and definitely would have called if there were weird things like that happening. This was just an unfortunate perfect storm of bad circumstances. I couldn't go on if I were her mom.

You know he was saying the first thing many years later right? Not to say he should be forgiven for what he did but he at least is showing some remorse. It probably won't mean much to Cassie's family and who knows if he actually means it but if he does then that's something. For him as a person at least. What a terrible set of circumstances: The boyfriend wants her to leave, but she stays... He's worried about her, but can't get to the house... Cassie's mom is ticked that she's not answering, but doesn't go over there... Matt's mom finally offers to drive him over, but he ends up with other plans... To hear them casually chatting about the upcoming murder is really hard to take. Horrifying. My heart breaks for her parents and family. Another horrifying thing was to watch Torey's parents defend him. Delusional. Hmmm, wonder if that played into how he turned out. It didn't even look like Torey believed them! Seriously!

I was cleaning and had my phone on airplane mode so the battery wouldn't die while I was listening to music." So responsible. And I'm not the worrying type at all.
