Does anyone else see parallels between this scene and the scene where Forrest goes to Jenny's apartment? Because I don't think this scene wasn't written just like that. In my mind, Robert Zemeckis knows how much people hated Jenny and wanted to learn from his mistakes with this scene and this relationship.

He made a point of returning the watch to her so at that point she should have returned what was presumably the engagement ring to him, or at the very least mentioned it. Given how this whole scene unfolded it does seem highly unlikely that her marriage will last. They will carry on for a time as if all is ok but her husband will know he is second best to the love of her life and she will not be able to stay living a life without Chuck now that she knows he is out there alive and well and still loving her. Give it twelve months from this scene she is back with him.
