He was young enough to rebuild his life. The movie perhaps suggests that there will be opportunities for Chuck in the future. That happens in real life. Disappointment, grieve, evaluate, move on …

He made a point of returning the watch to her so at that point she should have returned what was presumably the engagement ring to him, or at the very least mentioned it. Given how this whole scene unfolded it does seem highly unlikely that her marriage will last. They will carry on for a time as if all is ok but her husband will know he is second best to the love of her life and she will not be able to stay living a life without Chuck now that she knows he is out there alive and well and still loving her. Give it twelve months from this scene she is back with him.

I agree but then Robinson Crusoe is my favourite book. My only disappointment with the movie is not showing Chuck Noland (Tom Hanks) boiling water in coconut 🥥 shells over a fire 🔥 or making fish soup the same way. It’s a little known fact you cannot burn the shells 🥥 if there is liquid inside them. This would have given the movie real authenticity.

Her biological clock ⏰ was probably screaming 🙀. She made the most practical decision under the circumstances. The overwhelming number of people washed overboard during a hurricane don’t get found after a month or so. Her family and friends told her to move on … and she moved on.

I thought it was a given she was in her 30s in the movie, regardless of the actresses age or even his she looked. Regardless of how old she looked, she would be at that point in life for a female as in do I start seriously thinking about marriage and children? In her own way she was attractive but simply time would be running out. In real life, she would probably have made the same decision … to move on and do so relatively quickly.
