I made soap a couple of years ago and I used distilled water, coconut oil, lye and an essential oil. I still have a lot left because I made a lot to give away for Christmas plus some for myself. I think it was a fun, interesting and learning experience for me. Thanks for making this video because I think it's an important skill set for people to know.

Shesacamper 1 I make a coconut oil soap, and that is another one that I don't like to add anything to, although I do super fat at a high percentage so that it won't be harsh. I also make one with no super fat to use for making my own laundry detergent. And yes, it really is an important skill. It will make you question what ingredients are used in commercial "body bars". They take out one of the best components of true soap, glycerin, and add in chemicals that mimic it. Glycerin is gold to your skin!

Marcia Parmeley it really is an enjoyable and addicting process. Once you see success, you will also see all of the possibilities, not to mention control over what ingredients you use in your home.

Great video! Thanks so much for making it. I made soap with a friend who teaches a class at John C Campbell Folk Art School....I'm fortunate to live less than 10 miles from it. It's still curing in the basement on a rack. It was an interesting and fun project...and I love how it feels on my skin (she shared some of supply with me).

Lisa's Country Kitchen good for you! It is kind of scary for some people, but if you take all of the precautions it is definitely doable. Did you make Castile or a blend?

My understanding is Castile soap is still primarily olive-oil-based, but it can also contain other plant oils, such as coconut, palm, soybean, hemp, and jojoba. Castile soap contains virgin olive oil exclusively as its main ingredient. Aleppo soap tends to be green and is only made with olive oil, never a combination of oils.

thanks for Ur detailed video. since olive oil is already conditioning should we superfat our soap recipe, if so what would Ur suggested percentage .Thanks

You are welcome. This recipe already includes a superfat amount, although I don’t remember the percentage off the top of my head. It has a lovely feel.

Vickie, are your soaps available to purchase?
@VickiesCountryHome7 жыл бұрын
Cece Grn I have some available for purchase,, but I am not actively pursuing it. Is there anything that you are particularly interested in?
@Cg_Ilovemylife7 жыл бұрын
Your shampoo bar sounds interesting. I'm physically unable to make soap so when I saw your video I thought I would ask if you sell yours. ♥

Cece Grn I am about to make more since I am almost out. I will say that like the shampoos that you buy, there are different formulas for different types of hair. The one that I make works for me, Brian and Shana but might not be for everyone. Let me know if you are interested and I will make a little extra.
