Amazing job except for the disappearing Nike air logo on the tongue which is signature, for the future i recommend experimenting with some kind of sealer, wax coating/ or something to protect the logo or writing from potential damage from heat and direct contact with the resin. Otherwise fantastic job!

How often do you have to re-apply you're ceramic coating? I would also think, of course owner's choice, that doing anything to the shoe would decrease the value of the shoe. The owner's choice I just know in the world of collectibles if it isn't left pristine you can dramatically cut the value if ever you want to sell it later. Other than concerns a great job!

Impressive, it turned out so well and amazingly clear. I did think when you were pouring the resin that you would have poured inside the shoe to start with, obviously not afraid of the shoe collapsing whilst pouring from the outside. I like the way the laces are free to the wind so to speak but again I would have liked to guarantee their position within the resin pour. Lucky they were where they were and not any closer to the side. However I think I would have spent $50,000 in any number of better ways than this, plus your charge for doing it! Great video as always, cheers Michael.

I don’t understand why its worth casting a fashion sports shoe, but nice job, interesting to watch. To sand chamfers I use a festool ETS with the festool angle adaptor - really neat, it can be adjusted to hold the sanding surface at any angle you want and one can zip through the grits with the sander, maintaining a nice crisp sanding edge.

There are so so many micro bubbles in the finished piece, plus the tongue label is trashed and died all red. You should have used stabilising resin on the boot before the pour, plus should have used a pressure pot and multiple smaller pours to ensure a cleaner finish. Also, why not secure the frickin shoelaces first?? I'd be a super unhappy client if this was mine.
@BlackForestWoodCo
@BlackForestWoodCo 2 жыл бұрын
Those were dust specs not microbubbles look again haha, we work in a woodshop there's dust everywhere. Nope, in our test pour we tried to stabilize a shoe before the pour and it resulted in tons and tons of bubbles. And we did use a degasser on the resin. Well our actual client for this is happy so don't worry yourself.

@@BlackForestWoodCo It's possible it's also because of the age of the actual piece. I assume the test pieces were newly bought. worst thing i'll see all month. could've easily sold that pair to someone with another single/ an amputee. also these aren't worth anywhere near 50k. that price is for a brand new pair not a used single.

If they have you cast the other shoe they could be some amazing bookends. Two questions how do you prevent the resin from turning yellow as the piece gets older or is exposed to sunlight? Second what are they doing with the other shoe? I have a feeling that the value of the shoes has been drastically reduced now that one is cast in resin and the logo on the tongue is no longer visible. So to create an awesome display to go with the shoes they need to have a framed and signed jersey to hang above the shoes and a signed basketball that is positioned in between the cast shoe bookends and possibly a signed picture of Micheal Jordan. I can’t imagine being wealthy enough to basically throw away $50,000.00.⛹🏾‍♂️🏀
