My problem with their song is calling Jesus friend of sinners. This implies that Jesus is ok with our sins. He's not! So I don't know if they just didn't think about it before putting it there. They could have used a more accurate term. Jesus is our Lord and King and our Savior. He is our shepherd! He is the only way to God! I just wish people would put in stuff about repentance. Not just sound like Jesus is ok with the sin of being gay for instance.

A group at my college sang this song at a thanksgiving event. As I listened to to them sing "Jesus friend of sinners" I said to myself that is so true. Through the rest of the week the lyrics, "I was the lost cause I was the outcast" kept going through my head I realized that I had put a teenage girl in my church in that "lost cause" category. I was self righteous and throwing stones. Jesus never gave up on me and He hasn't given up on her either. It was wrong of me to do so. Thank you for your ministry!!!!!!

my Mom and I absolutely love this song! Summer 1012 I was victim of exactly what this song is talking about. I was told I was going to hell for what I was wearing(which was modest btw) and that I was a disgrace to the church. After that service we were listening to the radio and this song came on. We were in tears. I am on a journey to becoming more like Jesus. We have all fallen short, no one is better than anyone else except Jesus Christ and yet He humbled Himself to die for us. Do you tell people they are sinners? That's why Jesus came. Jesus is not a friend of those that think they're ok without his help. He came for those that know they are a wretch (not a good person, could never get right by works) and He came to take they're sin upon his body, to save them from Hell. Patrick. 1). The Bible specifically states that water isn't a direct requirement to be saved. If that were the case, those who weren't baptized or didn't have the chance to be baptized but accepted Jesus into their hearts wouldn't be saved. It wouldn't make sense. Baptism by water is to finally put the cap on one's acceptance of Jesus, and (imo) is for those beyond the veil, to declare in the spiritual world as well as the physical that "this is a servant of the Most High". 2). We are to judge other Christians, however care must be taken how we judge as well. 3). There are specific situations, where a Christian should judge another Christian with force and with anger. But take note that this "anger" is more frustration, as in "anger of love". As in you are grieved by what you see. See the specific times Jesus was angry in the Bible, take a look at His "anger". Use that as the model. 4). The familiar phrase, judge not that you may be judged, even though it's a cliche, comes to mind. It is mentioned in several places in the Bible, including by Jesus Himself, that because your Heavenly Father forgave you, you should turn around and forgive others. a). When presented with a woman caught in adultery by the Pharisees, Jesus said "let he without sin throw the first stone". b). It is also illustrated in the parable about the master who forgave the debt of his subordinate, only to have the subordinate go ahead and collect debt from people who owed him. 5). Be careful not to fall into the enemy's trap. If you haven't noticed, common perceptions of Christians are that we are judgmental, vindictive people. This does NOT help our cause. 6). Therefore, if you have discernment, discern through the Spirit. I am not saying to condone the sinful acts of those who proclaim to be Christian and be lukewarm. I am saying to use discernment in HOW you judge, lest the ultimate Judge turns his wrath on you. 7). "We cut down people in Your name, but the sword was never ours to swing".

Dear beamband2. You are so correct. God gives us all free will to accept or reject his love. I am a believer and have been for 14 years. If we attempt to ram religion down peoples throats we are in direct disobedience. That is like withcraft. The word teaches us to offer people a relationship with God and if they reject it to wipe our feet off and keep going.Christian often argue among one another and that reflects poorly on God.

We all need to have the mercy and compassion of Jesus. The most loving and compassionate thing we can do is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone. Jesus came to seek and save the lost and He did an awesome job of it. We need to follow in His footsteps. Show love and kindness. Jesus may have been a friend to sinners, but he also ministered to them, healed them, and fed them. There is a way that seems right to man, but in the end leads to destruction. So i put the movie "Ring the Bell" in the DVD player for my three year old to watch. Every time we get in the car to watch it the whole movie restarts.
