Lyrics:
It's the second glance that ties your hands as darkness pulls the strings
Be careful little feet where you go
For it's the little feet behind you that are sure to follow
It's a slow fade when you give yourself away
It's a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
It's a slow fade, it's a slow fade

My wife of 15 years abandoned me last year. I got home from work early in the morning with a "Dear John" letter. A few months before she left i caught her talking to another man. I would have never known she would leave me. Ever. I actually believed our only separation was death. We have been through multiple combat deployments in Iraq and I am currently in law enforcement now. That song is true. It's a slow fade. If only she sought the Lord and talked to me about what was going on with her. Her relationship with Christ is severed so I am doubly troubled because it's not just my relationship with her that's in trouble. She didn't leave me any contact information so I don't know if she's even alive. I am still hoping and trusting God will reconcile us together but I know she first has to reconcile with God.

I went to a Casting Crowns concert with my children....I was a raging alcoholic and bound by drugs.....when they sang this song I didnt know it was about adultery but it brought heavy conviction over me....I almost walked out of the church while they sang this song....but I couldn't leave because my sons were holding my hands one on each side ...looking at me in the eyes singing this song to me.....I was backslidden at the time so I understood how God was using all this conviction to wake me up......I ended up repenting about a year later....Bless Jesus....for breaking my heart again

In the song “Slow Fade," by contemporary Christian artists “Casting Crowns" the lyrics read: “The journey from your mind to your hands is shorter than you're thinking." The song is about the process of sin as it begins in our minds and transforms, through compromise, into actions.

Yeah we have to protect what comes into God's temple and we are the temple ,when we rob from the temple we give a part of us to the enemy and we get comfortable with a small thought then it gets easier to sin another time and it keeps growing but we have the power through Jesus Christ to step over sin

I know this song is primarily about adultery, but all sin is a slow fade. The more consumed you get in your sin the farther you get from the Lord. Nobody wakes up and says, "Today's the day I cheat on my spouse." or "Today's the day I become an addict or alcoholic." It truly is a slow fade, but will eventually consume you.

Nancy stewart exactly. Yes this song is about cheating on your spouse. But all sin no matter what is a slow fade. Whether it is watching porn, cheating, using drugs, or what ever. It starts slow. Then all of a sudden you are in too deep.
@megannason3649
@megannason3649 3 ай бұрын
I've always thought that this song is not just about cheating, its also about how we raise our kids. Don't ever make a promise to your child that you don't intend to keep. It shapes their ability to trust not only you as a parent, but their ability to trust that God will keep his promises. It is perfectly okay to say to them stuff like I will try my best but this or that may happen, it teaches them that even parents have to live in the real world and sometimes things come up and plans change. You didn't break a promise, you told them you would try to get it done, its called managing expectations.

The intro to this song is so chaotic, it truly shows the depth of how far sin will take you and the chaos it causes followed by the silent message, then the pick up where chaos starts again. Truly CC conveyed the message in its correct manor. Sin will take you farther than you want to go, and cost you more than you ever intended to pay.

There is a famous saying that says: "When elephants fight, it's the grass that suffer." Translation, when a mom and dad fight, it's the CHILDREN that suffer. Children may be quiet and don't know what to say, but down deep, they feel whole world is collapsing over them. Just realize what your children are going through mom and dad. Your children matter.

The message in this song is so timeless. As Proverbs 4:23 states, “Above all guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.” Also, Matthew 5:8 states, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see (experience) God.” If we desire to live a life of close communion with God, we must be “vigilant” In our thought life. We must take “Godly Fear” and “uncompromising integrity” in order to be all our “Creator” made us to be. 🤔

Your children will know what love is by watching you. Parents be mindful the respect you show your spouse because your children are learning what is acceptable by watching you. If you don't show respect and love, your children will marry people who will treat them the same way. We have no idea the price our children will pay for the mistakes we make. I watched my mother struggle and vowed that I would never be like her, but in the end she showed me what not to do. I have a newfound respect for my mother because she suffered alot. She believed in men who continually failed her. One thing I learned that she never failed to pray through it all, and I am constantly praying to God and He has blessed me. I have a great husband and two wonderful boys. I live a life that is so blessed. Thank you God for blessing us!

I work in the Western Canadian oil patch. So long stays away from home, marriage and parenting by phone or video call. Married to amazing and beautiful woman and we have a 9 year old son. There's no adultery, no drugs/booze/gambling - but this song gets me hardest when the little girl asks "Daddy do you have to?" My son misses me and is asking when I am coming home, and my wife tells me it's harder when I am gone because she misses me and everything I do. I play this every night when I am away. No job is worth being so far away for so long. Change is coming. Thanks for the GREAT SONG Casting Crowns!

Loved Casting Crowns in concert. This song hit home for me, I lost my husband 3 years ago to suicide, he was consumed by the demons of his child hood, depression and alcohol. This song has so many meanings as we dealt with the depression and alcohol and tried to save him. For me the song slow fade is his alcohol & depression dragging him so low that he took his life. My daughter found him taking his last breathe and I found him an hour later. The price was paid....we deal with the night mares he left behind, we watched him slowly drink himself into a deep darkness. Today I struggle....I pray for Jesus to walk with me in these hard days....one day at a time

How old are your children. You feel like a failure because none of your children believe in God? Yes being a good example does have a positive effect on the Gospel but do not make the mistake of assuming it is your job to convince your children of their need for salvation. Each person/child is accountable as individuals to God. It is your job to present the Gospel in both words and deeds AND to lift your children up in prayer but it is not your job to convince them of their need for salvation. You are to plant the seed of salvation in the form of the Gospel message but it is GOD'S job to bring your children to the knowledge of salvation. I have prayed for your children.

It's amazing how parallel each by song by Casting Crowns is to real life. They cover almost every issue. I mean, I appreciate every Christians artist's message, but it's the songs by Casting Crowns that really make you think about things that occur in your everyday life that you wouldn't normally realize. Falling away from God doesn't always just happen immediately. It can be a slow process. You may not realize it at first, but no matter how small or how big a sin is, sooner or later, it can and will take control over you. Everyone makes mistakes, but it's very important to ask God for forgiveness, because if you don't realize that what you're doing is wrong, then that "slow fade" begins. But it can also be stopped. Not trying to sound like a downer, it's just something to think about. Fortunately, God loved us enough to send his one and only son to die for us to escape that slow fade. (Totally off topic, but what other religion could say that?)

I do. The sound of a lot of my childhood. And I hated it so stinking much. I was always in tears when they fought. As I got older and started raising my younger siblings, I would take them away from the shouting, away from the fighting. Even as a younger five year old I knew this wasn't how it was meant to be. I hope that I raised my siblings to know that was not how its meant to be.

This song simplifies that for the most part people aren't born bad, it is the choices that we make that are sinful that will be the last decider as to how we become later in life if we don't walk with GOD. it's easy to call on GOD when we need him it's another to live with and for him everyday.

I cry pretty much every time I hear this song. I do remember the times that I woke up in tears from hearing mom and dad yell at each other. I don't want to follow their example in my life. God came in a has completely changed my life i still get the flashbacks and sometimes rock my self to sleep because of the pain and the memories. Please be careful all those who are reading this to be aware of the words you use. The ones my parents said to me all those years ago are really accessible for the enemy. Your thoughts turn to words. Your words turn to actions. These actions are what can harm those people in your family. Abba Father loves us very much. I want to honour him with my life. Eventually when i have kids i want to make sure that they do not hear or see what i have seen so I learn from my heavenly father what this means.

As a child, I witnessed my parents yelling and it got physical. Ever since then I was afraid and had these flashbacks and now that I am almost 18 years old. I still get them which causes my anxiety at night and I always balanced them because of it. But now, God is dealing with my heart and learning to forgive my parents for bring exposed to this at a young age. Lastly, I know once I become a parent I don't want my children to be exposed to this kind of negative things. Reading your comment gave me some encouragement. Thanks!

Speaking of family problems, I heard a sermon where the pastor's friend boarded a plane. He was sitting next to a woman who was praying. So he asked her if she was a Christian. The woman replied that no, she was actually a witch, and she and the other witches in her coven have been praying for the destruction of the Christian family. It looks like their prayers are working. This tells us how much we ourselves have failed to pray. The Enemy has already succeeded in getting his followers to pray against us.

I've fallen, in my life, below God's standard and this song really resonates with me about how I got there and how I can stop myself from compromising and getting there again. I'm free from it now and this song keeps reminding me of how important it is to not let myself sink again.

This song is hitting me hard now. I’m currently in the situation where I messed up my marriage of 8yrs… all for an emotional affair that I did becuase of how I was feeling about myself. This song hits different right now and I’ve broken my husband and I deserve to feel this pain. It’s been 5 days since he’s been thinking about what to do. I don’t know if he wants to split up or stay and try to reconcile but all I know is that Gods will is more important than what I want now….

Prayers to you! Going through the same thing rn. 🙏🏽 I emotionally and mentally cheated on my husband 5 years ago. Felt bad as I was doing it, knew it was wrong. Now he's moved on and has another girlfriend. Truth of the matter, is we both did each other wrong throughout our relationship and marriage. We are in the process of divorcing and co-parenting. Plus, I feel like it was meant to happen...he never believed in God. I always did, but I turned my back on God to pursue this relationship nearly 10 years. Now, I have been restarting to build my relationship with God again. I forgave him and my past self for our mistakes. Can't let it control the present and future. Hope your situation gets better, in Jesus name🙏🏽

God is bigger than my addiction, sin problems etc. I've been Clean and Sober since January 19, 1998 but by God's Grace. He lifted the obsession to drink and drug, while I worked on changing me through good Godly healthy choices...honesty, humility, open mindedness and willingness. I dealt with my pain of being sexually abused as a boy, while facing other fears and pains head on. God made that possible and deserves all the credit. He can help you too! Don't suffer in silence any longer.

It is so terrible when when you are in the pulpit playing a keyboard or guitar and knowing that your wife is doing something wrong away from God's purpose. Please pray for me. Of course the song is brilliant, but one thing I love about the video in particular: as heavy as the song and video are, it ends on a positive note. By stopping and deciding not to go on the business trip, the father in the story doesn't go down the path that leads him cheating on his wife and so forth. The point of a song like this isn't just to make us feel bad. The point is for us to hear it and actually change our paths *before* we fall into great sin and cause great harm to ourselves and others. And that's what happens at the end.
