Casting with Ed: Snap-T

In today’s session of “Casting with Ed”, Ed talks to us briefly bout the “Snap-T” cast, why he didn’t like it originally, and why he’s come around to use it 60-70% of the time in his warmwater fishing. So long as the tip of the rod is immediately kept out of the path of the fly by angling it toward the water, this is a very versatile cast that can be performed off either shoulder, either side of the river. This alone makes it a must-know cast for your arsenal. It’s also a powerful cast, and when performed correctly puts your anchor in just the right place to maximize load in the sweep and into the forward stroke. But enough from us, let’s let Ed tell us why he likes it!

Awesome video I can see why in your past videos youre doing snap ts with a heavy "cut" Which secures your rods placement and solidifies your anchor as well as the anchor placement especially with heavy flies and sink tips

I've gotten to the point where I am better with this cast than a double spey. My problem with the double spey is I'm not always quick to adjust it based off the tip and fly used and I end up blowing my anchor part where I wanted it. With the snap T I can almost always place my anchor exactly where I know it needs to be based on the current.

I'm curious to see the downstream snap T from another angle. I haven't been out in so long I can't visualize what that would look like for a southpaw.
