Castle 1650kv and Reefs RAW500 in the Mojave on 8s!

Nice video and that Mojave looking sick, love the color. I just got the Mamba X 8s with the 1650 kv motor too, but my motor came bad from factory. Did a bench test no load on it and got to 150 degrees with in 30 seconds.

Yeah that’s a bit hot. Keep in mind that from what I know they need a bit of a load on them to keep temps. Sounds odd and I may be totally wrong but that’s what I’ve seen. Just about every brushless motor I’ve ever ran has got way too hot to touch when held without load.

My 1717 motor didn't like 8s on the Mojave. The rotor internally fell apart after like 5 minutes on grass. It was working done with stock tires and 6s. 40mph on grass on 6s. It only got 42 mph on grass with 2.8 MT tires. And the motor blew 😭

Great job on this truck brother. I just picked up a Mojave myself. Seems that Arrma is releasing a bunch of new models and a 1/10 scale 6s Mojave EXB roller. Can’t wait to see that one.😃

This was an interesting video for me. I have a Fireteam that I'm leaving stock now but eventually I will most likely change the motor and esc and am trying to gather all the info now on what would work best. I plan on staying at 6s so my results would differ quite a bit from yours but still good food for thought. Trying to do this on a budget isn't easy.

I'm coping your set up for a MOJAVE Extreme. With all the extra power for extra top speed what pinion gear would you recommend? Guys were getting 60 mph with a stock 6S system and pinion 20T. Wondering if I could go with a 25T and hit 65 or 70.

The limitless is pushed to 100 mph with no problem with the same setup. Put the limitless spool and gear it up .

Love this video!! I actually have the hobbywing max 6 and 1650kv combo in my Mojave. I just bought this same mamba 8s combo with 1650 sensor motor to gain a little more smoothness and responsiveness. How did you mount your esc? You really give your trucks a good bashing and the electronics stay in place. And what size pinion are you running on your 1650 motor?

I use a 4500mah SMC pack as they are low profile and just barely fit. As for 6S I use a 6500mah Power Hobby battery

Lol. Those tires tho on 8s...but im guessing the bennys of beed locks.. have the exb..with max6/spectrum 1250kv. Havnt done 8s yet. On 6s it's a monster.

I put sprayed bearings oil in my q903 brushless truggy and it seems like it messed up the rear diff because most of the power is going to the front wheels

i had that issue on my x maxx 8s but turns out i ended up forgetting to put in a bearing on the rear diff pinion when i replaced the rear bulkhead.

I got 61 mph with 19t pinion stock spur. Vant batteries 6s. Stock motor and ecs. Where did you get those rims and tires?? Stock mojave tires tread go so fast

Those are Vitavon wheels and proline hyrax tires. There are links in the description for them and other stuff on the truck.

Yep goes right in. The biggest issue I had was finding a fan setup that would fit. Otherwise it’s a straight bolt in.

What would be the advantage of that motor vs stock if im using stock esc ? Does it run cooler im only running 6s also would it yield better run times im running a SMC 8000 6s and getting 16 minute runs and im not really bashing that hard just on off throttle kinda sucks

The spektrum stuff ran well for sure. My issue was I needed decent speed on 6S and the 1650 gets that. Still slower than a stock one.

@@ExocagedRC couldnt you have just changed the motor to a 1650 and kept the Spektrum esc and accomplished the same results? Either with a Hobbywing or a Castle 1650 motor? Just wondering what you think because I just installed the very same Spektrum combo in my Mojove last weekend, but I havent run it on 8s yet.

@@allenallen7569 yep you sure can, my reason for the castle setup is the sensored operation. At some point I will put a sensored setup in the UDR, eventually, they aren't cheap.

oh and you will need 8s with the 1250 kv Kraton motor unless you find a way to change the spur gear out for something a bit smaller

Nice video. I once had a traxxas 8s esc out of my xmaxx and a 1650kv rocket motor in mine and got 51mph out of it on 8s on tarmac, it liked to wheelie alot!

The issue i see are your tires. You are losing a lot of power/speed from the ballooning and the truck twisting one way at the 40mph mark.

I’ve already ran the Hobbywing 1650kv in there. Look up Big Block UDR. Great combo in there but in much the same as you see it here, it’s slower due to the lower KV. Runs really good though.

Yeah 2050kv stock 1650kv castle. Speed loss will happen but torque is way up and IMO durability it up with the 1650. All over done for gearing right now is put the 20t on it. I plan to try a smaller spur of some kind on it to bring the speeds up a little. I was hoping for a bit more speed on 8s in all honesty.

Not so. I recently got some power hobbies stuff. Their 760mg and their 770 winch. Both run really good. I do like reefs servos though.
