I just have to say, if I havent already done so in any one of your other videos.... I have hard weeks. I get home from work and the only things I wanna do is find something to eat and sleep till my next shift. The weekends are the only peaceful times I have, since I have next to no social life and I have no issues with just staying home to relax and scroll KZbin all day long. Whenever I see that you've posted a video, I can feel my body and mind ACTUALLY relaxing. I feel joy in gaming that I havent felt in decades since when my old babysitter would come over and pull the Sega out of his backpack. I can feel myself getting giddy to watch probably the best thing I'll see all weekend. You are a service that no one thought they needed until they clicked on your channel and realized they needed you all along. PLEASE keep going.

Fun fact for those not in the know: in the Japanese version of the game, Eric's weapon is called the Alucard Spear, and implies that at some point, Eric's family had dealings with Alucard himself. This name change was retconned eventually when Portrait of Ruin was released, as the Alucard Spear is one of the legendary weapons you can acquire, along with Maxim Kischine's (from Harmony of Dissonance) weapon, the Stellar Sword.

I think lore wise why John Morris's life was cut short was due to the Vampire Killer was only ment to use used by the Belmont Clan and according to the whip's memory Richter was the last owner of it but due to the events of Symphony of the Night Richter pretty much cursed the Vampire Killer and John's son Jonathan had to cleanse it in order to fully use it.

Some spoilery stuff for future games but lot's of fun lore and story came from this game that wasn't mentioned in this game like how Eric's spear is the Alucard Spear given to him by Alucard, hence the expert ending with it glowing. Then there is this games "sequel" so to say Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, starring Morris' son Jonathan where we learn using the Vampire Killer whip without being a full Belmont actually drains the life of and eventually kills the user and that Eric is also killed by another vampire and his daughters are turned into vampires. It's quite the big juxtaposition in how older Castlevania games really have little story compared to the later games, which I think we have Symphony of the Night to thank for that along with all the other tropes later games have.

Yes! I'm so glad that you are covering this game! You could argue which game is the best 16-bit Castlevania game, but this is a great game! It certainly deserves a guide! I do love the theme of this game, and that the levels represent different countries. If the development team ran out of space to add more levels, it makes you wonder what the additional levels would have been, and what countries that they would have represented! I do love the addition of a second playable character, that has a bit of a different playstyle. Personally, I enjoy playing Eric more, but I like that the game gives you the choice! It reminds me of when Zero became fully playable in the Mega Man X series.
@FrankKnife1Ай бұрын
Id argue it's better than super castlevania 4. Don't get me wrong 4s still good I just like bloodlines better. It's got a way better game feel. It's more restrictive in where you can whip but it's more fair. The game itself looks intimidating but it's fair. I don't have a single bad level in this game. Only one bad enemy that I just need to get used to. The dumb palace of Versailles garden swinging scythe enemies. But that's more due to me not slowing down. This game doesn't have a time limit so take your time.

Mosu is one of the words for moth in Japanese. I believe it was a katakana translation from the dutch. So it was a mistranslation back into English. Mosura is for Mothra. 1:51:00 So yes, they did name her the Princess of Moths. It just wasn't properly translated in English. It definitely was not Moss, because Moss in Japanese is Koke. Some fools online think the Katakana of Mosu is Moss in Japanese, which boggles my mind. Japanese have never translated the English word of Moss into Japanese, and there is no official Katakana for Moss.

There's some additional lore about Eric from Castlevania Judgment but I'm not sure how canon it is. Eric was younger there and was quite arrogant believing the spear was more powerful than the whip. He even challenges the spear's creator, Alucard with the spear itself even after Alucard reprimands him that the spear was a complementary weapon and wasn't supposed to compete with the whip. Since it's a fighting game, naturally Eric disagrees and tries to prove Alucard wrong by trying to kick his behind with his very creation.
