Dracula is so much more powerful than any other vampire in the show that even at his weakest, like when he's gone a long time without feeding or something like that, he can effortlessly destroy them and he knows it. And they all know it. That's why they scheme behind his back and talk trash about his actions or decsions but nobody will seriously try to take him on. Even Carmilla's challenge was mostly for show because she knows she can't take him even if every other general backed her. That's why when they had their private chat her tone was very different and she was very deferential to him. Hell, you've seen Alucard fight by now, and he had to spend a full year sleeping in a coffin in order to heal from the ass-kicking his dad dished when he tried to prevent him from taking revenge for Lisa's execution. Since Alucard has been shown to be a match for Trevor and all the vampire generals are clearly afraid of "The Belmont" while Dracula barely pays the subject any mind, that should tell you a lot about the difference in power levels.

Welp the B herself Carmilla shows herself, showing herself to be quite a few degrees more dangerous than the council of vampires Dracula has assembled with her tongue and intellect. Yeah both Issac and Hector both have good reasons to hate humanity, you seen his past as a slave and heard about Hector’s parents treated him. Both Forgemasters creating demons out of corpses and as Blue Fangs in season 1 said a literal army from hell, using souls from there to create the Night Creatures. Speaking of which two of them that attacked the group, the large bat like one and the spear using one are named Gaibo and Slogra are actually bosses in the game series that fight in tandem, or so I can dig up. Finally the vampire council of Dracula minus Godbrand never have their names said in the show ever, so might as well adress them. The bald headed male is Dragoslav, the one with more mid evil clothing is Zufall, the tan skinned male is Sharma, the Indian vampiress is Raman, and the Chinese/Japanese looking vampiress is Chō. Honestly probably not that much farther ahead than you guys in series, starting Season 3 myself and don’t know much about the games. Can’t wait to see more reactions.

With Beth's interest in Twilight and philosophical take, I can't wait until we get to a certain death scene later on. ********: "Is that all there is to it? ******, you are a silly man." It just always strikes me quite hard and I keep going back to that scene. It's just so beautifully written and the cinematography is amazing too.

1. I love how even the nameless jobbers in the court knew that what Carmilla said was something you *shouldn't* And the thing is, she's lucky that this Dracula is much more emotionally controlled and less sadistic. If she had said that to *game* Dracula she would have been turned inside out on the spot or something. 2. All of the Vampires being instantly wary of the Belmonts is such a good scene. It shows, in no unclear terms, that the clan of monster hunters are still feared by Vampires all over the world despite having been nearly wiped out. Fun facts: A) Isaac and Carmilla are massively different from their game counterparts The former is a much more tragic character, with depths to his seemingly one dimensional loyalty. Carmilla was a loyal lieutenant to Dracula, whereas here she is a very obvious schemer B) Dracula in the games actually has a personal connection to the Belmonts through his former best friend Leon Belmont who was the first of the bloodline's monster hunters and was the one who swore that his descendants would fight Dracula every time he rose again. This, however, is game canon which doesn't translate to the show 1 to 1
@illyahrthebard330311 ай бұрын
Lament of Innocence is, at least partly, canon to the show. You can see a portrait of Leon in the Belmont stronghold
@filipvadas760211 ай бұрын
@@illyahrthebard3303 true, though nothing else from Lament is seemingly acknowledged. Dracula himself doesn't even really hint at any sort of personal connection to the Belmonts

7:30 - 7:33 These two creatures are Slogra (the one with the beak) and Gaibon (the bat-like one); first appearing in Super Castlevania IV, as part of the final gauntlet before facing Dracula. Carmilla has been around since Castlevania II: Simon's Quest; she's the floating mask, in Laruba Mansion. In the games, she's very loyal to Dracula (even being the one to revive him in Circle of the Moon's prologue); but here, you can tell she only serves Dracula when it suits her.

Warren Ellis, for all his faults, does tend to do interesting things with characters and powers. You noticed Sypha trapping the fire in the night creature in this episode; that is a very Ellisian thing IMO (and I dig it as well). If you’re interested in seeing him play a bit with the idea of superheroes, I commend to your attention the Planetary comic (a limited series, available as four trade paperbacks). I don’t think it’s perfect, but I do think it has some interesting ideas.

Carmilla is a vampire from a novel that came out around the same time as Dracula, but because it was the Victorian era she was scandalous because she partook in the blood of other women. And as a result of this and a resurgence of her novel in the 90s, nowadays she is only put in media as the lesbian vampire. Sorry if you couldn't tell I'm not the biggest fan of Carmilla in this series, not because she's queer coded, but because she's the cliché man hating angry lesbian archetype, and that dilutes a lot of her Machiavellian tendencies to me. Besides the lesbian vampires from next season are way more entertaining and fun. I ship Moranna and Strega

I will never, ever understand how people can watch multiple episodes of characters pronouncing a name one way (e.g. "SIGH-fa"), and then pronounce it differently (e.g. "SIH-fa") repeatedly, over and over and over. I've seen it in A:tLA reactions, in DBZA reactions, and now in Castlevania, and it just doesn't compute to me. =\
