I've seen a lot of people starting Steins;Gate but never reacting to the sequel "Steins;Gate 0". If at the end of your scientific adventure you feel like you enjoyed the show, you should give Steins; Gate 0 a try too. It's as good as its prequel

It's so nice to see someone watching steins;gate for the first time. The theories, the brain working at full speed, it's really a unique feeling, and seeing someone as attentive to details as you watching it, just makes it better hahaha

@6:26 Once you finish the anime I would recommend checking out the Visual Novel, even just for this part of it. It actually shows you the full scene of everything Makise Kurisu says here and goes much further in detail to where Makise Kurisu lists each of the main time travel theories and "debunks" them one by one. There's a lot of other stuff worth checking out the VN for like having multiple endings and a glossary that defines a lot of the terms used in the anime (whether scientific, nerd-based, or even fictional terms like for the Upa), but the way it puts more time into explaining the science alone makes it worth checking out somepoint imo.

Mayuri is indeed speaking in the third person at times. It can be a bit weird but it's no more a weird facade than Okabe randomly role playing as a mad scientist on the run from The Organization. Mayuri combines her first and last name as well as Okabe's first and last name to make pet names for them. Shiina Mayuri/Mayushii and Okabe Rintarou/Okarin.

So I'm going to do some linguistic nerding about what Mayuri is doing when she "talks in the third person", don't mind me. You can ignore this comment if you're not that interested. I'd like to preface by saying I don't actually speak Japanese, I'm just a big linguistics and languages nerd who has accumulated random knowledge about all kinds of different languages. If someone reading this actually speaks Japanese, please feel free to correct any mistake I may make. So from my understanding, in Japanese, nouns (both common nouns and proper nouns/names) and pronouns work in the exact same way, grammatically speaking. You can easily replace a pronoun with a noun and vice-versa, without it impacting the grammatical structure of the sentence. In English, when we replace a pronoun with a noun, it automatically becomes 3rd person, because nouns are always 3rd person in English. If I say "You are amazing", I can't say "Cast are amazing" instead, because nouns always need the third person conjugation of the verb. If I want to have both the noun and the grammatical person, I need to say "Cast, you are amazing", where we have both the noun and the pronoun. But Japanese verbs don't conjugate depending on the subject of the sentence like English verbs do. So you can replace, for example, a 2nd person pronoun with a name, and it will still be interpreted as 2nd person. In other words, in Japanese, you can say something like "Cast-senpai wa sugoi", and it can either mean "Cast is amazing", or "You are amazing", and context will dictate which one it is. Since this "name as a second person" thing is something that doesn't exist in English, translators have to choose between using the third person, which keeps the use of the name, or the second person, which I'd say is technically more accurate to the meaning in Japanese. What comforts me in this analysis is the fact I've often heard the name being said in a sentence in the Japanese dub, but the subtitles would only use "you" without any name. This technique can also be used for the 1st person, but this is not usually used by real-life people, at least not regularly. It's mostly a trope for moe characters, and that's what Mayuri is doing. Translators seem to have different approaches, and some will use the third person (like in the subtitles you're using here), to keep the name and highlight how unusual it is, and others will use the first person, which I'd say is more accurate to the way it grammatically works in Japanese. At least, that's how I understand it, with my admittingly limited knowledge of Japanese grammar. Again, if anyone reading this actually speaks Japanese, feel free to correct me if anything I said is wrong.

Don't watch all of 24 episodes of steins gate, there is a better watch order
@kingofbudokai Жыл бұрын
No, there isn't. ALL series, regardless of genre, are optimally viewed in release order for a first viewing, because that is how the story was meant to be told. It is definitionally impossible to view a set of media in a "better" order than what the creators intended, because their design is inherently the best one.
