Finally here, the final (as of now) season of Haikyuu. Can you believe I have made it this far? Some said I never would get here, but alas... Early access is on Patreon as always, it very very much supports the content I make here. Thanks all.

Oh also. Tsuki gets so frustrated with Hinata he starts to call him "boke" which roughly means idiot, which is a word Kageyama uses all the time and is basically the only insult he knows. So he swaps to "baka" because even in this instance he can't let Kageyama win by association.

@CheesePolice

One thing to remember about why only Kageyama is chosen for the national camp is that there are thousands of high schools in Japan, and the camp only takes a very small number. It really is the best of the best. If you're only picking two or three liberos, you've going to pass over a lot of really talented players. Put another way, being the best in Miyagi prefecture sounds really impressive, but there are 47 prefectures in Japan. Being best in your prefecture might not even get you onto the long list for consideration.

3:08 Don't put (that much) dissrespect on the man(just a little bit). They showed that he was skilled at everything, and when he asked the coach why he doesn't use him, the coach told him it was about his height. Until that point, I'd say that he and Hinata were the same. Both did their best to overcome their height but different circumstances gave them different paths in life. I'd also say that if Hinata didn't have Kageyama in his team, and Ukai as his coach, he wouldn't even be a regular on the team, he lacked technique, height, and general experience, all he had was jumps and refelexes, and those alone would't put him in front of players like Tanaka, Asahi, Tsuki, Suga, even Yamagucchi and Ennoshita. But he had the oportunity to play alongside Kageyama, who brought the best out of him, he got everyone's trust and because he was allowed to play that much, he realised his shortcomings and started to develop himself as a player to be able to fight on his own, even without Kageyama. On the other side, the Shiratorizawa coach was prolly better than Hinata is right now, he was pretty confident in his technique, saying he won't lose to anyone at recieving, amd even that he has confidence in his attacks because he can jump. But he didn't have anyone like Kageyama on his side, and his coach didn't believe in him for exactly this reason: he's short. As much as we like to believe that everyone can do what hinata does if they work as much as him, the more realistic story is the one told through coach Washijo. Coach Washijo did everything he could, he just wasn't let to believe in himself and to develop furture by his coach, and naturally, gave up. He wasn't let to dream, and, unfortunatelly, that's what happens with people like him in general. Hinata getting that good is a mix of rare opportunities that people don't get across normally, and people that are harsh to Washijo don't realise how blessed Hinata was when he got to Karasuno Edit: But of course, his attitude is annoying, because he thinks that this was his case that it going to happen to everybody, and no short player would be able to go pro. Admitting Hinata means admiting that he himself failed, and his pride doesn't let him to do that. He sees himself in Hinata, and it is rough for someone who loves this sport, and dreamed to become a pro, gave their best to do so, but failed, to see someone exactly like them being able to still do it. When he gave up he had regrets, in time he burried those regrets deep down, and forgot them. But when Hinata beat him, those regrets were brought to surface and they were stronger then they ever.

Yeah you make good points, a patron also had some pretty convincing things to say about him and around episode 4 or 5 of this season I lighten up on Washijou some. For one, his perspective on the "strong" has held up for years, so Hinata being an exception shouldn't make him trash his whole philosophy. And it's not like Hinata is the only player in Miyagi that felt he should have been chosen, but that doesn't mean the camp should be obligated to let anyone in that felt that way. That all being said, I personally have dealt with the "I suffered, so you must suffer" people in my actual life so much that I have a real distaste for it. I have always held the opinion that if you feel you suffered some form of injustice, you should make it your priority to not repeat the same injustice. Especially for someone the age of Washijou, who should have enough perspective on life to know better. This especially applies to the elder-to-youth dynamic/parenthood dynamic. It's flat out wrong to take your own frustrations out on children just trying to be better. It's just a pet peeve of mine I guess.

I think Takeda's line at 14:55 lacks some context, but it's actually much closer to what Cast was saying in spirit. He says there's a difference between being "issho(u)kenmei" (putting your life on the line to reach a goal) and being "muteppou" (literally a loose cannon, or someone putting your own team in danger to achieve your goals). So yeah, basically "taking risks is all well and good, but don't make other people take risks on your behalf"
@CastSenpai

Definitely has a lot to do with respect. I’m sure there were tons of players (even in Miyagi) that felt they deserved to be invited, but weren’t selfish enough (harsh word, I know) to internect. And props to Washijou and other coach for allowing it, despite the precedent it sets for somewhat excusing Hinatas actions.

Btw, the anime isn't finished yet. There are only movies planned though, no more episodes. So you won't be done, but caught. The situation is actually a little similar to AOT, but s4 of Haikyuu has at least been finished. There are about 6 volumes that haven't been adapted from Manga to anime in Haikyuu.

This might be the Asian in me, but if Hinata did this in reality, not only will he get in trouble, Karasuno vball club might get punished for the blatant disrespect. I'm not saying all Asian countries/culture/society punishes those who put shame on the collective, but I've seen it happen a lot of times in reality and where I lived, especially in settings where some a-hole adults are petty and want to strut their power over others. I'm not Japanese, so I am making assumptions that may be wrong... but based on how Japan is very much traditional, respect your elders, do not stand out in society... Hinata and Karasuno vball club would have been crucified for this.
@CastSenpai

Yeah I am not sure if it *has* to go that far, but I'm sure it could. What you are saying makes sense culturally. I guess it depends on how the "disrespected" (Washijou & other coach in charge) feel about it. Washijou seems okay to slip it under the rug in this instance, which I suppose is one of the few times up until now he has been on the kinder side.

There was actually a bit of a debate on the Haikyuu subreddit on whether Hinata's actions of crashing the training camp was justified. There were a few camps. One was saying he was very disrespectful and in Japan where respect is very important and he was in the wrong. The other camp had a more "American" point of view that Hinata saw an opportunity and saw a chance to make something happen and he didn't do anything that bad. And everything in-between.
@CastSenpai
@CastSenpai Жыл бұрын
Yeah of course being American myself I am naturally inclined to agree, but I do try to take a culture-objective approach and in this case feel like the ends may justify the means some. I am not saying its okay to be disrespectful, but there are worse things to be. Washijou and the other coach chose not to make it a big deal, but laid out conditions. I think it was a bold move by Hinata, but I think the overall outcome was worth it.

Idk man. There is a fine line btwn determination and entitlement and it took me a couple episodes to not be annoyed with hinata here. I mean I wasn’t annoyed too long cuz he is pretty likable but this was so annoying for me especially since he didn’t even get any dire consequences cuz being a ball boy isn’t punishment he got indirectly taught to level up in the process. And everyone knew this when they didn’t kick his butt all the way home and bar him from returning (which they would have done with any other person honestly but MC armor so ya know)
@CastSenpai
@CastSenpai 7 ай бұрын
I think the Shiratorizawa coach had personal beef with Hinata, and that’s why he allowed him to stay, not because of MC armor lol. He saw himself in Hinata, so he wanted to discourage him.

@@CastSenpai I think it was more to see what hinata was made of. Cuz if u consider later episode when kageyama asked what he had been doing with his time and hinata replied ball boy there was a reason kageyama didn’t tag on him. It’s because he knew the valuable lessons being a ball boy would yield. Any dedicated player would and so did the coach. So if he wanted to discourage to the better route would have been just boot him. Also, thanks for replying it’s been six months I didn’t expect to have one.
@CastSenpai

I read basically any comment I get 🙏🏻 I suppose that’s fair, I think it was a pride thing for Shiratorizawa’s coach. Sending Hinata home and not even giving him the chance is a different form of denying him than allowing him to stay and fail. But also, could easily be argued that the coach was giving Hinata the chance that he himself never was given as a fellow short player. I think the coach was torn between his emotions which resulted in him giving Hinata the slim chance to work hard and succeed.

This is such a random video to make a comment like this on. There's been times where I was amazed by a take from him to the point of wondering if he did know something before watching (tho I would never assume with any kind of certainty that he is lying about not watching the anime before), but I have no idea what you're even talking about here? In general I feel like a lot of his reads are based on knowing how similarly structured/themed anime or stories in general have gone about similar situations. Haikyuu is not some insanely intricate story with lots of plot twists and unexpected reveals, it's a story that puts a lot of time into building up character arcs and story points, so it's not like he's pulling any of his ideas out of thin air.
@CastSenpai

You nailed it! 90% of what I say is based on my pre-existing understanding of story structure and character development cycles. I often say my theories out loud and share my thoughts on things as they happen. Sometimes I hit, often I miss. I called the white haired new character Bokuto in this video. That isn't something a prewatcher would say lmfao. I swear, reaction channels get angry comments if we accidentally miss something (guess what, it happens on blind watches) and we now get people angry if we DO get something right. 😅

@@PinkFluffy1CornYeah this mini prediction that Hinata would sneak into the camp (while noteworthy) has nothing on predictions like Mustang losing his sight in FMA.
