This build video will cover the steps I took to make this DIY elevated food bowl feeder. The material used was mostly plywood and some poplar wood as well. I decided to make this because I have a larger dog and he always looked uncomfortable eating from dog bowls on the ground. The height is approximately 12" off the ground and about 21" wide to support two dog bowls. The storage drawer is perfect for holding dog food or treats. I used 14" slides for the drawer. My dog loves this so far and it's been a great addition to our kitchen. Learn how to make this raised dog food bowl station yourself! Enjoy!

nice project...suggestion...kill the jazz music (any music) that is in the background it is annoying since it gets on the way of your voice and kill the enjoyment of watching u do ur magic....or maybe lower it that is barely noticeable...that will improve a lot the videos...u have the skills, the how to explain things just twich here and there and u will have a perfect video every single time. remember the most important thing in doing utube videos is NOT the annoying music as many utubers think, is the content, if the content and quality of the video are very good u will see people subscribing and watching ur videos more often...cheers.

Honestly wish I found your channel sooner because your videos take the pressure off from a "perfection" standpoint. There is this weird gap between doing DIY quality and professional design that doesn't seem to be acceptable in the community. You either do it absolutely perfect OR you enjoy it for it's minor inconsistencies. Your channel seems to bridge that happy middle ground.

Thank you! I think they would have worked great if the angle was at exactly 45 degrees and the cut was a little deeper. Either way, it definitely helped with alignment.

Have you had problems with water getting under the bowl and down into the drawer?.....from where the dog splashes it around and slobbers it everywhere? If so, how did you deal with the problem? That was the problem I had with the one I built years ago....
@CasualBuilds
@CasualBuilds 3 жыл бұрын
I haven't had problems with that fortunately. The bowls I got are pretty deep.

what causes the imperfections in the miter cuts? i made some faux beams last week and some fit together perfectly and some needed putty like you did.. is it a bad blade, or board movement while cutting, or wood warped different? it was buggin me
@CasualBuilds
@CasualBuilds 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it could be all of those things. I'm still trying to perfect my miters. Watch the box video from Chris Salamone, he talks about adjusting the angle slightly to help close the gaps.

In total how many pieces of plywood did you use? Going to Home Depot tomorrow and just wasn’t sure
@CasualBuilds
@CasualBuilds 4 жыл бұрын
I honestly can't remember because I used a few scraps of plywood for the outer box. I do believe that I used one 24"x48" sheet for the drawer though.

great video and idea! for experience with my messy dogo i will put a rim on the base of the bowls so the water or crumbs don't fall down on the drawer and plexiglass for easy cleaning. how is your drawer now after almost a year?

A simple piano style hinge with another piece of ply and a handle should work well for a lid. You could also router in a round groove so it clears the bowls and still fits flush on the top

I made my last paint mixer from an old 1 1/2" spade bit by grinding the points. The next day I found my actual mixer and tossed it in the "unused tool" box.
@CasualBuilds

Smart! Works better I presume?
@idonwantella2824
@idonwantella2824 4 жыл бұрын
@@CasualBuildsI wouldn't say better, but just as good. 99% of the coatings I use come in quarts. It's perfect for those, but I didn't throw the mixer away because the spade bit is too short for a gallon. The best part of it all, nobody wants to "borrow" a useless drill bit and never return it. I'm starting this build today, will definitely subscribe for future installments...
