I just wanted to give you and everyone else here a word of caution. I have a golden retriever. The dining room in my house is raised up a step and I used to put my dog's food and water on that step. A little over a year ago, my dog's stomach flipped. This situation brings with it a very low recovery rate; but due to an excellent surgeon, my dog made a full recovery. The vet now calls her the miracle dog. The vet said this kind of thing happens for three reasons (all of which I was unfortunately doing): walking your dog immediately after feeding them, giving them ice cold water, and feeding them on a raised platform.
@Inevitable0376 жыл бұрын
I thought it was better to feed them on a raised surface. What is the benefit of a raised surface then?
@WillThat9 жыл бұрын
I plan on building one of these, but integrating an arduino with rfid. My younger dog will eat the older dogs food if you're not watching her and the older one is too timid to stop her. And the older dog doesn't like to eat all at once, she'll nibble on her food throughout the day. Makes it hard to police the younger one.
@JeremyThompson219 жыл бұрын
Good idea...Looks very useful. Take a look at Orijen dog food if you really want a healthy food. Hills is the same crap as everyone else. 5 of first 6 ingredients are full of carbs = not good for your pooch. Not trying to be negative in any way, but we found out our Iams dog food contributed to our 6 year old dane getting bone cancer. Just something to think about. Keep up the great vids.

Btw you can't use poly on something already oiled or waxed. You have to remove the wax or oil before, because otherwise the poly won't stick to the wood.

I have a big dog and I was actually doing some research on the net about raised dog food bowls because I heard it was better for their digestion. I actually found that the best thing is to leave the bowls at ground level because raising them could actually make them eater faster and cause problems to the stomach and digestive system to those dogs that are prone to it. I'm still not sure about it though cos some websites say the opposite... does anyone know if either of those can cause problems to large dogs, or being a benefit, or if neither change anything?

The raised food bowls will also improve the digestion of the dog and help him stay healthy.

My dog eats and drinks very enthusiastically, I have to put something behind his raised bowls because the baseboard makes it stick out and when he uses it his force causes it to shake and bang around. How might I modify this custom raised bowl holder to account for baseboards? (I rent, can't change them).
