What I did for my first date was go kayaking. It was a fun activity that felt adventurous and not too much talking and simply enjoying nature. Setting up a hammock to watch the stars come out helped too I'm sure. Highly recommend doing something adventurous because even if it doesn't work out you still ended up doing something you wouldn't normally do.

Finding someone who has some similar interests can really help. People place way too much importance on physical attractiveness.
