The ending of this made me sad. PLEASE remember why YOU did this. It's something YOU wanted! I understand your family was clearly attached to your locks, but it's your hair. It's something you wanted to do. Just remember that. Don't let anyone guilt you for doing something you wanted to do with your own hair.

I don't think they were trying to guilt her, I just believe it was a major shock to them. I mean, they are so used to seeing her that way & then boom...gone. Yes that broke my heart for her AND them! I can remember my daughter, now 20, at that age and how my actions shouldn't have affected her but very clearly did just because we were so close. I understand her son being upset bc that’s how he’s always seen his mom and he’s a kid, he’s gotta get used to it. But i feel like her husband was rude at the end (we only heard one clip so im not trying to say that he’s mean to her all the time or anything). Like i get him liking them and wishing she kept them but for her to ask “do you still think i’m pretty?” And all she got was a rude response, that made me so sad for her. You can like her old hairstyle but still be supportive at the same time. It’s a good thing she took them out since they had a little mold in them, that could make her really sick over time.

You are beautiful Christina! Your husband's reaction hurt my heart. You are beautiful with or without hair!! Your personality is what makes you as beautiful as you are!! Less than 3 months ago, I was coming out of a 4 month long depression. My hair was completely matted. I even managed to hide it from my husband & kids the entire time. I would keep my hair in bun on top of my head. I finally couldn't take it anymore & showed my husband. I cried my eyes out & explained to him that it was so bad, I probably was going to have to shave it. I kept telling him I was sorry & I knew he was going to be embarrassed. He laughed at me, hugged me & went right out and bought like 10 different types of combs/brushes + every type of hair detangler he could find. He came home and spent the next 6 hours helping me. He would stop when I cried and try and make me laugh. I asked him after we were done if I had of shaved it would be still be with me?! He said "I didn't fall in love with your hair- I feel in love with you. Nothing you could do or not do to your appearance would ever be enough to make me not love you!" 😭❤️

Keisha, it broke my heart as well. I think it was just about the worst most awful thing for him to say. He absolutely knows why she took them out. Like I can’t imagine she just told him one day they were coming out and hasn’t been telling him for months that she was thinking about it and the reasons why, which include medical reasons! Like I get that he liked the dreads, but the dreads didn’t make her who she is. So he’s basically saying he wanted her to keep them despite the medical issues, and that makes it seem like he only loves her for her dreads. Which isn’t true, she didn’t hv dreads when they met, and I think their son was 4 by the time she did them. Just the really wrong thing to say, and it broke my heart bcuz it came right after the scene of her showing off her beautiful hair and she was so happy and literally said she felt like herself again. Then to hv them hv that reaction….ugh. I hope they’ve apologized since and hv told her how beautiful she is dreads or not. 🥺

I watched this, then went away and I felt compelled to come back because all I could think about was the pain in your face right at the end of the video. I am a qualified counsellor and You may not see this but I’m going to write it anyway. Change can be hard to believe in at first because different is not what you know but you was both beautiful and worthy with dreads and without them. Sometimes people need a gentle nudge in the right direction. If you could have executed self belief in your beauty ( because it’s there) people will begin to give you what you need back and you are so deserving of that. When others see your confidence, your power and your unwavering self love, they do this thing where they just believe it too because that’s what they can see and feel from you. A few summers back a friend of mine's daughter was taking swim lessons. She's mixed & has beautiful tight curls & because she prefers to brush & style her own hair into a low pony nobody noticed that she wasn't brushing the underside. Two months in her mom catches on & realizes the underside in the back had one big dread in the center. She said she spent 3 days trying to untangle them with a blunt hook & metal comb but was getting nowhere & the hair was just breaking off so she started massaging oil & conditioner in to the matted hair & gradually was able to get into the center & just worked up from there until it was saturated & then started untangling. She'd gotten nowhere working on them for 3 days dry & was able to get the entire dread out in 1 evening using oil & conditioner with very little breakage.

Please remember although your family may have had less than positive reactions because they might not be used to it now, they will grow to love it over time❣️change is slow and sometimes difficult but I promise it was worth it gorgeous!!

The freedom you had to have felt letting go and embracing change. This takes a lot of strength. Proud of you and I hope you love yourself as much as we love you!

As women, our hair is our vanity. I know why you got the dreads and why you removed them. You went through the process and are free! Love your channel so much.

Holy shit my eyes are stinging from the ending. That broke me. Not that my opinion means a damn thing but hot damn I am so glad you took them out. That selfish reaction is a fantastic indicator of why this was a brilliant idea and I personally think you look beautiful fulfilling YOU. All the power to you my love 💝💝

You're so patient, I would have gotten frustrated and just gone to a Salon to chop it all off. I love the new look. Change is good!!
@ronjakh3 жыл бұрын
If I had dreads I would never have the patience for this, I’d just chop at least most of it right off 😂 This must have felt amazing though, getting all that weight off of your head. You look beautiful! I think you could have saved your hair a lot of damage, time and lost less hair if you had applied conditioner or diluted conditioner first and let it soak. Reminder for those who are watching who are about to brush them out themselves ☺️

Naturally curly hair should never be detangled wet. Oiled is different, but no water or water based products. It can easily cause snapping and more damage.

Is there a brand of oil? I will keep trying to help the ladies I love who have health stuff then depressed about that - then it seems to all be overwhelming. I bought satin pillow covers for mom and sister, to help prevent hair breaking but they still get all tangled. We tried to figure out just today if you have to comb first, then shampoo and conditioner, or will conditioner help when wet? For wavy hair. Thanks, sorry to but in, this comment section has nice people. No clue how I ended up here! You look up "how to take a 1 month olds temperature, end up talking about ladies hair lol. Tbh, I am a bit freaked out about the temperature taking too! I have 4 generations in this house, so I'm all over the place

I hope what her husband said at the end was out of context because that genuinely has me sooooo tilted rn! lmao Christina you look amazing, and my dream/hair goal is to have healthy long gorgeous hair like yours in a few years when I finish growing it out. And you just got your locs out! That should tell you how wonderful of an accomplishment your beautiful hair is. I've been on a difficult hair journey the past few years with impatience, wanting to chop it all off when it's in the weird length phase, crying over having to make the decision to cut 4 inches off because my ends were snapping off, my hairdresser messing up my bangs. Hair is a part of our identity and it absolutely can make such a huge impact on your life and self image. But you guys did a wonderful job and you should be proud! I hope your family supports you fully and doesn't bring you down or cause you self-doubt.

Lord! It’s hair! They all loved it-including her. My husband had long hair and when he cut it I complained, constantly said I missed his long hair, so did his family, and like her, he kind of missed his old hair too. But I still loved him and thought he was gorgeous! But I wanted his longer curly hair! The thing about true love is people can be honest. It’s not that serious where he needs to constantly baby her. She’s a big girl and probably loves him because he will be completely honest with her. I’m willing to bet if it was something that was life changing he would support her no matter what. And if it was taken out of context, you could have possibly been the ones to make someone feel bad about themselves, not her husband!

I shaved my whole head and my husband did it for me. I've gained 60 pounds since the beginning of our relationship and he loves me just the same. The lack of support from your husband is heartbreaking. Makes me wonder how he would react if you were to gain weight or anything that changed your appearance drastically. Relationships should not be based on superficial things like looks. Those things fade. You look amazing, Christina and what matters is that you did something for YOU

My husband and I have been married for 31 years. Over the years, I've developed chronic health problems, lost _a lot_ of hair and gained weight, but my husband still tells me I'm as beautiful as I was on our wedding day. Even though my self-confidence is not the greatest, he makes me _feel_ beautiful. When Christina asked Jeremy if she was still pretty, his answer should have been a resounding *YES.* His response made me so sad. 💔

my sisters appearance has drastically changed due to her poor health. It aged her a lot and she looks much older than her age. Her husband is such a good man. He tells her all the time how beautiful she is and he wouldn't ever want to live a day without her. I know my husband would do the same. It truly makes me sad that this was reaction. He is a shallow person.

Again I don't think he did not support her , thats ridiculous, he just gave her his opinion, which is completely different from being an unsupportive partner ..eeuhh

Christina, this made you happy, and in that alone, your family should support you. However, I understand change can be hard, and this almost needs to be grieved. On a high note, dreds or not , it didn't change the inner you, or your inner light, or your love. And not that my opinion matters, but you look beautiful. Understanding and compassion all around will bring this family to healing.
