Seriously, the prison uprising was great. The death of the older man was sad, especially as I was grieving my wife’s death that occurred shortly before. Luthen is a great character. I loved his total personality change when he went to the antique shop on Couscant! And his statement to the spy was so epic as well. And that post credit scene…

Luthen hearing marvas words and understanding that he's not alone in this, it wasn't all for nothing, there are these sparks all over the galaxy and the day he dreams of can really happen. Stellan Skarsgård selling it with a slight smile, a real smile. prefect.

Definitely Marva's final speech. Watching the hope and resolve build in the faces of everyone listening is so powerful, and the music takes it to another level.

@@daveautzen9089 Kino Loy yelling 'ATTACK' after the floors shorted gets me every time. But yeah, there are great moments spread throughout, an overlooked one from episode 3 with Andor explaining to Luthen how easy it is to steal from The Empire is up there for me too. Also the music on space Ibiza.

If only all of StarWars was at this quality. Show had me locked in from start to finish. It’s crazy how great writing can make a show with very little action, still keep you at the edge of your seat.
@jazzx251
@jazzx251 Жыл бұрын
That's because "action" isn't just about pew-pew and zoom-zoom It's about tension - and many of the dramatic scenes in this show are nailbiting Look at Dedra - a sympathetic lady who just wanted to get ahead within her toxic male-chauvinist workplace. But then ... "the last thing you want to do now is bore me." ... a fascist horror show! No lightsabers, no guns - just AWESOME character building and payoff. Shoutout to the concepts - such as a prison with no bars ... except the floor is electrified, and your shoes have been taken away! When the action scenes DO happen in this show, they are creative and memorable, and very much well worth the wait. And the choreography they use is believable, logic behind every move.

What’s funny is that the IP could even do the more action or youthful focused stories with this quality that are more “real Star Wars”, but they don’t. This show is a great example of how care and craft behind the scenes can bring a level of quality that the fans appreciate. Sets, costumes, directing, acting, and writing makes a real difference.

Little detail that got me: in Episode 11 as Brasso is going through the Andor house, he notices that Maarva cleaned Cassian’s room (which was tossed by the Syril and his crew in episode 3) showing that Maarva always expected Cassian to return even though he mostly slept out in the junkyard while on the run during the series. The contrast between Cassian and Syril’s mothers succinctly tells you all you need to know about their respective sides and perspectives on the Universe. Likewise, it informs how they find romantic partners (for Cassian, intimacy is easy; for Syril, intimacy is unsettling and has an element of possessiveness). Just great writing. I wasn’t there when my mother passed and it felt relatable when Cassian (and the audience) wasn’t there for his mother’s passing. We don’t always get a tidy bow on life. People like Kino can come into our life, have a significant influence on us, and we never see them again “I love him more than anything he could ever do wrong” absolutely wrecks me.

Me too. They could have done this: "I LOVE you more than the stars will ever know! YOU are my heart and soul for all eternity! .." Instead, "it's just love :) .. nothing we can do about that" - absolutely, blubberingly brilliant [sniff! (I need a tissue)]

This show made me love Star Wars again. This is what I've always wanted. I'm so tired of Jedi and Sith, so it's nice to take time exploring the true underbelly of the galaxy and the birth of a rebellion that feels realistic. It's about time they started focusing on the "War" part in Star Wars again. Also I'm the 66th like 😎😎😎

Know this old post, but I rewatch the show and reactions often. And I'm more and more intrigued by Cinta, who was left very mysterious. Yes, I believe she has lost her humanity and is living Vendetta. I think she has aligned with that group simply for the fact it gives her more opportunity to inflict retribution than if she could alone. She is a tiger: hunter, stalker, assassin, etc. She definitely killed everyone in that contol room, otherwise the ISB would've had more info on the appearence of the team than the comment about one vault guy "maybe" recognizing Cassian. Also, when she killed that ISB agent on Ferrix, she WANTED to! She stalked him, acted small and fearful, then gutted him with an intimate fix for the unquenchable monster that has taken over her. I wonder will her story goes. She seems more extremist like Saw. Sorry for rant, but Cinta and also Kleya are so brilliantly mysterious. (I think Kleya might've been one of Padme's personal bodyguards) ✌🏼
@kirkdarling4120
@kirkdarling4120 Жыл бұрын
@@luminaraunduli2791 Yes, I fully agree. Cinta left the bunker with too much casual air of assurance to believe that she left witnesses. Also, a voice in the background in the ISB said the garrison had been "slaughtered." Not the entire garrison, for sure, but if they used the word "slaughter" I suspect they're referring to the hostages. And, yes, Cinta single-mindedly targeted and stalked that Imperial spy, even though her mission was to find Andor.

Andor has several "strong female characters" that you root for. Thats quality writing instead of dumb agenda pushing. That includes a character we root for awhile at the same time hating her and hating us for rooting for her. There is more writing quality inn 5 minutes of Deedra Meero or Mon Mothma than in 5 hours of Galadriel in Rings of Power or that woman from episodes 7 to 9. I even forgot her name, despite being the main character of the horrible Disney sequel trilogy

This was a great reaction, and a great series. I honestly think that it was written from the rix road scene - this was a show about the start of the rebellion - and how there needed to be a spark to set the real rebellion off (which came from Marva Andor). But for that scene to work - it NEEDS to be earned... and the whole series is a massive build up, of convincing Kassian that people need to step up and fight and not just run away from the problem that is the empire. Brilliant story, and awsome that its in star wars too :)

The reason why some things are told that they happened and we don't get to see them, is, of course, money. It's much cheaper to do it this way. And if you ask me, Andor is one of the actually good Disney SW ideas. And based on how much money they are bleeding due to mismanagement, I'd say corner cutting is here to stay.

The audience doesn't need to see most of the things that happened offscreen. Do we really need to see Anto Kreeger and his crew get slaughtered? No. The idea and how the characters react to the event is more important than spending a significant portion of the show's budget on a one-sided fight. What would you give up in its place?

Imho, seeing and reading everything is a sign of bad writing, not good. Public liked it in book series like A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones) and Wheel of Time, but I read those and there is so much NOT NEEDED content. It's just filling to create more books and keep people hooked for the ending that will take 10 books to be released. And in both cases, it never happened. Martin will never finish his books. And the author of Wheel of Time died before sending the series, that had to be finished by another author. Compare that to the masterful writing of Masters of Rome series, where lots of the news in the world are told by letters between main characters and the reason is several books is because it runs from 114 BC to about 39 BC.

Nice to see you finish this. This series elevates the type of stories you can tell in the SW universe without narrowing the focus to a handful of characters and their families. For me, I would love season 2 to have Brasso and Cassian running missions and Bix helping with logistics of what the growing Rebellion will need. We may lose Brasso by the time of Rogue One, but I'm kinda hoping we see Bix has survived, but bittersweet at the loss of her friends. Wouldn't mind seeing Kino Loy return as a Rebel Ground Commander. My theory about the sister thing early on was that after Cassian was rescued, Maarva and Clem went back to save the rest or what remained of the tribe and his sister was among them. They begin to form a small smuggling ring, maybe like what we saw in SOLO, and set up shop on Ferrix where other kids were adopted and they had that tight knit community. All the friends of Cassian seemed to be human with "dark" features, so this supported it and why they'd put up with him as well. It would also explain why he was looking for his sister at the start. Maybe months earlier she got fed up with being on Ferrix and ran away. She was spotted at the brothel by someone from Ferrix and then told Cassian, kicking it off. But with Maarva saying that they're all dead, put the kaibosh on the theory. The way it is now, they should never address her again and certainly not see her in season two. It's a big flaw for me the way they have it and any sort of miraculous reunion would be a slap in the face of good writing.

Mon Mothma daughter fate was not that bad. Arranged marriages existed for thousands of years. It's only in the last 100 years that they disappeared even in the west. Her daughter wanted it. She would surely ask her father for a betrothal if her mother didn't accept. And anyway, it was not even a real betrothal. As he said, simply an introduction. He seemed to be quite positive his son would be charming enough for the daughter to like him and things go forward. If you think about it, she was protecting her family. Anyone attached to her will soon be persecuted by the empire. The sooner her family fights with her and leaves her, the better for them And it's the theme of the season 1. SACRIFICE. Luthen sacrifice. Kino sacrifice, knowing he couldn't escape for he couldn't swim Luthen realizes Andor is ready to join the rebellion when he shows he is ready to sacrifice himself. Kill me or take me in. He is all in. Thinking about it, Luthen never wanted to kill Andor. He knew what a great asset he was. That's why he personally met him, quite a big risk. And then forced Andor upon the group in the Aldani heist. He thought however that Andor would join. His partner in the antique store even criticizes him for being not careful enough. It was a great disappointment that Andor did not join and became a loose end. So when Andor shows on his own account and tells he is ready to give his life for the rebellion, it was Luthen big bet paying off.

Something having existed for a long time is not a good argument for it being okay. In the grand scheme of things, women having rights in society is also rather new, and still doesn't exist everywhere. That doesn't mean that women shouldn't have rights. And there are countless other examples of things that existed for a long time but were abolished because they were wrong. For instance, slavery. Now, unless you're just a despicable person who believes that countless people don't deserve rights and fully supports slavery and the like, I think you can see why your argument is flawed. Though this particular instance is a bit tricky, and I don't really know what I'd think of it. On the one hand, her daughter could very well be enthusiastic about it. And on the other, she's very young, and might not fully understand the implications of it and how her own opinions on it might change as she matures and grows up. And I also don't know how forced it would be.
@rogeriopenna9014
@rogeriopenna9014 Жыл бұрын
@@peterlewis2178 so arranged marriages only involve women? Why are you talking of women rights specifically?
@peterlewis2178
@peterlewis2178 Жыл бұрын
@@rogeriopenna9014 Mentioning women's rights had nothing to do with arranged marriages. I was using it as an example of a cultural norm that existed for thousands of years, but clearly wasn't okay. My point was that for most of history, in most parts of the world, women's rights have been suppressed. But just because that had been the norm for so long doesn't automatically make it okay. Therefore, the argument that arranged marriages are okay because they've been around forever and only were abolished recently is flawed logic. That argument doesn't actually hold any weight, unless you wanted to also argue that women shouldn't have rights, or that slavery should be allowed, or countless other injustices should be brought back.

Also, Davo was getting into a bigger problem than he thinks. He thinks he's just providing a fake paper trail for ordinary elite corruption...the discovery of which could probably be handled with a few bribes. He doesn't realize he's covering a rebellion. When Mon Mothma true activities come to light, however, Davo is probably the best person to keep her daughter hidden, which he will be forced to do, with his family connected to hers.
@kirkdarling4120
@kirkdarling4120 Жыл бұрын
@@peterlewis2178 However, it appears in their culture that the arrangement is subject to the veto by either party. At least we see that Mon's daughter is more than willing to enter it. I know of a good many arranged marriages that took place with friends of mine, and all cases, both the man and the woman had a "veto" if they didn't like the arrangement. Their parents were, essentially, only matchmakers.
