It looks like they have the power grader adjusted so it pulls gravel from along the shoulder and moves it back to the center of the road. That is great because it replaces the gravel from the tire tracks that gets squished to the shoulder when the drive is soft. It really did a great job to reshape the road with out needing a road grader to come in and bring the gravel road crown back and smooth the road surface along with the shaping. I like the way it worked.
@kapperoutdoors5 жыл бұрын
yeah it does that, I didn't mess with the adjustments much, but it worked slick for sure :) Thanks.

I owned a Cat wheeled skid steer a few years ago. It was great and Fabic was a good dealer. As with anything that expensive, dealer support is a big factor. If I were to buy another one I’d have to look at JCB. They’ve got a single sided lift arm with entrance from the side so you can get in and out no matter where your load is situated. If you work alone as used I used to that would be a great feature. There’s a dealer in Hamel Illinois that I’ve visited but know nothing about.

You need to angle the power rake to pull product from the side of the road to the middle to build or keep a crown. I run a Vernig power rake with a hydraulic angle cylinder. Takes the work out of changing the angle. I've run several Harley and Bobcat power rakes as well. The Bobcat fell apart in about one day. The Harleys are OK, but not built near as well as the Virnig. That's the way to go. Very capable and strong machine. Bobcat and Cat make great skid steers for power raking, but I use primarily an ASV because of its power and its ability to go where Bobcat and Cat can't go. The ASV tracks are awesome.
@kapperoutdoors5 жыл бұрын
Good info. The bobcat I ordered has wide track, so it ought to be able to come close to the asv for traction. I know asv is a beast, but I didn't want to take a chance with the nearest dealer being in another state and like 75 miles. Thanks

I always worry about the electrical issues and of course the emissions system that a machine has but I used to work for a big construction company that had a CAT 262C and in all the years I worked there I have never seen it down had over 3k hours on it when I left and it was far from cared for, or maintained. This company only ever changed the oil and filters every 1000 hours if that. Sad from my point of view because if because I am a preventative maintenance freak, I always learn where every hidden grease zerk is located and always change and check fluids oil and filters. Maybe it was a good pick of the bunch and they just got lucky but it’s better than the alternative of getting a lemon. In my opinion just about all machines are great when new but unless you dump them after reaching a certain amount of hours, longevity, ease of maintenance and parts availability are paramount. With CAT you can always get parts and service if you don’t turn wrenches yourself but be prepared for the CAT price tag.
@charlie46685 жыл бұрын
Bobcat has the bobdock system. You don't have to hook up hydraulic lines anymore if you don't want to it's automatic. Mine has that option, as soon as you connect the quick connect it also automatically connects your hydraulics.
@kapperoutdoors5 жыл бұрын
Never heard of that, never seen it. I test drove a bobcat also. You still have to connect the hydraulic lines, but that is no big deal when you're not bending and crouching down into an awkward space.

Do you think a power rake would work for busting up asphalt millings with a lot of chunks? Or am I just going to break the rake? The chunks are fairly soft and I was planning on doing it during the summer heat. Rental around me is fairly expensive for a attachment. Over $200 a day.
