You are a huge inspiration for me. I run my own repair shop outside portland and was was feeling very burnt out all year. I found your channel a few months ago and it really helped me get motivated again. Thank you

Welding 3/8 plate to 16 Gurage is tricky. I am impressed. That is above my pay grade. Thanks for sharing.
@jtg27375 сағат бұрын
I noticed that too. Hence why it was welded with the thicker piece placed on the bottom to absorb more of the heat while welding. But damn still impressive.

Brother you do good work. So great you have a good shop and tables to get things up and off the floor. Sure makes a difference with comfort, speed, and quality of work done when one is not in such an uncomfortable position for extended durations. I can and do appreciate the time and difficulty of work as well as thought that goes into repairing and fabricating an additional piece for a scraper hydraulic tank. This is from a guy with history of servicing, repairing, and operating various scrapers and quite a bit more. We used pull scrapers also, including Reynolds and one or two other brands. I'm not sure what it would cost or if you would even be interested, but I may need a couple custom fuel tanks fabricated for a special vehicle. The finer details like getting it to me might be more involved through. Just thinking out loud or um in typed words. EDIT: I used to be involved with fabrication work on constructing metal buildings out on ranches and farms. Too much to list. Am not completely green on various types of shop work. Have a nice day.

You've come up with an elegant and effective fix, providing fuel pressure in the tank is low. Why not press the curve out with your press, then follow up with crack detection on the welds?
@Failure_Is_An_Option57 минут бұрын
Top shelf work as always. I've advised operators to straighten the base plate in a press. Doesn't have to be perfect. Then utilize Permatex's The Right Stuff sealant. Some have omitted the straightening and only used the sealant with the same success. I will continue to advise my solution. 1. It has proven to work. 2. Operators can complete it in house. 3. Minimizes down time. 4. It seals the entire base drastically reducing corrosion opportunities and subsequent rust jacking that will cause another seal failure. That machine was way before my time, but we still review failure modes of all vintages, and manufactures. If memory serves me the plate was released from the jig immediately after the final weld was completed. Adding a release delay minimizes some distortion. Modifying the jig to produce a slight counter bend suits production line processes better. If I really want to stir the pot I tell people all tanks will be poly in the future... ;-)

Have you tried permeated 51813?this stud is thin and is designed for metal to metal. I had it recommended to me on a Similar problem it was so thin I had doubts but it worked better than silicon.

As you said, the 651 D is quite a “monster” compared to a small 615 C. I've seen these 2 types of machines but I've never worked with them, only 623 auto loader model. Another great job Creg ! Nice n easy !

Great job , I have a question . Why not leave the original angel iron lip , add the cork gasket then yr new plate with the rubber joint?..Is it the 3/8 will offset too much the other attached bits? I respect the fact you know what yr doing and i don't . 👍
@OFW5 сағат бұрын
Well it’s 1/2” and if the fender mounting holes were off by 1/2” nothing would line up.

00:45 could this piece had been put in the hydraulic press (using bushings at specific points) to push out the warpage due to the welds? Either way a nice job and better design using an O-ring.

It could. But I don’t think that would have fixed the problem.
