For those who struggle with the concept of KZbin - this was just us running some equipment for fun to make a KZbin vid for entertainment - we weren't being paid by the yard and it wasn't a job site 🤦🏻♂️ If it was, kit would have been moved and we would have pushed the heap high and tight.

Filming entertaining content and filming working kit is very different. Working situations are fairly dull and so to make it entertaining it takes another skill-set and a lot of daily operators struggle with it.

Hello ! It was 1976, I was an 18-year-old young man then, Estonia was then occupied by the Soviet Union and I was sent to Russia to serve time in the railway forces. Nearby there was a military unit where operators were taught US and Japanese technology, after that they were sent to build the Baikal-Amur railway, it was at that time important construction accompanied by flags and slogans. I saw this USA CAT D 9 bulldozer working with my own eyes and it was a very powerful visual image. I had never seen such a powerful bulldozer before and this machine started with an electric starter! It was fantastic for a young man. Russian bulldozers had a starter motor that ran on gasoline, after half a year in Russia, the starter motor also had starters, of course if there was a battery, batteries were also a rare commodity.

It's no small wonder when you think of raw power and "earthmover" that a CAT D9 would come to mind. Awesome machines! That D9H is the best of that series. U-blade and Giant single shank ripper. These were the best balanced tractors I have ever operated. Simply a feel to them when doing grade and slope work that no other tractor equaled. I have thousands of hours on these. Got one of the first D9L models to run when they came out. These are the "high drive" style. Much larger than an H so got more work done. But absolutely horrible for climbing, pushing to loader, doing grade work! My last day in the mines was on a D11N.
@LordMuck9 ай бұрын
Hopefully later in the year we'll have a bit more room on some better ground to load the blade on that D9H. It was great fun making the video but the soft bank and restricted area didn't allow us to make her work.

They used two brand new D9s, a funny looking excavator and a couple of, what would be now, little dump trucks to build the Ord River dam in Western Australia in the late sixties. It holds back 10,000 gigalitres and backs the water into the Northern Territory. Who said D9s weren’t an awesome thing. Jeff
