Very surprised that they did not go through the gradual introduction process as this could have been terrible. You keep a cat away from another cat using the litter box too . Very lucky this worked out so well. They are adorable cats but it is my experience with cats not raised together that it takes time and a special process to hopefully have them be friends. I am experiencing introducing a new cat to my other adopted cat and am not having a quick friendship.

@@SilverDawn-ox6py thanks that makes more sense because our new cat freaked out when she accidentally saw my first cat while I was having them separated. It is getting better after about three and a half weeks. 🤞they become buddies to play and sleep together. I never had two cats before who did not grow up together so I wasn’t aware of this getting acclimated process.

@@Sandy-it5on Been there done that. Our cats are still getting used to each other after 3 years! It's not fair for us humans to expect any given cats get along perfectly and love each other. I wanted to rescue another cat and, as long as they can co-exist, I'd call it a success.

But I realized after I rescued my first cat in July after not having any for eight years that I should have considered rescuing a pair who lived together as this cat needed a buddy because of his behavior. I am not a good cat substitute 😂. I always had cats in pairs before so did not consider the issue. Live and learn as we all know. Good luck with your decision🌺

@@appolop8273 I’m not too sure but I think the proper way is to let them get used to each other’s scent first. People do this by keeping them in separate rooms I think

@@appolop8273 It's recommended to keep a new cat in a seperate room at first, and not to allow direct contact right away. Let the cats get used to each others' scent through the crack under the door or some sort of gate that lets them see each other, but keeps them separated. Feed them on opposite sides of the door/gate so they associate the other with something positive. The way they did it in the video, with one cat free roaming and the other trapped, often leaves the latter feeling vulnerable and anxious, which makes for a bad first meeting. They then potentially made it worse by trying to force the cats to interact. It worked out in this case, but the owners made it harder for the cats than it needed to be.

@@azyrennvd4814 I saw an episode on KZbin, with Jackson Galaxy about that. However, this person seems to know the proper way of doing it. This person, when making such comments, had to tell us , what the proper way is, but they didn't. No matter how long it took, they came together at the end.

@@appolop8273 as others said befor, its best to have them get to know each other by scent first (through a door or something) and to feed them at the barrier so that the smell and sounds of the other gets linked to something nice. In addition its a good tactic to have a toy or some treats to distract the cats from each other, when they start the "stare down" when they finally first meet. Because you don't want to risk a fight.

Best way to introduce your cats is behind a door! Leave one in a room for a few days and let them smell each other through the bottom of the door. Works like a charm!

I live with my parents since the 'rona. They got me a kitten for xmas. Their cat was not happy, she was always hissing at the baby, the baby just loved to play. Took about 4 months before their cat stopped hissing, and started to grab the baby to groom her. At 6 months the baby would go over to their cat and would fall over onto her, giving lovey eyes, begging to be groomed. Now their cat acts like the kitten's mom and the kitten still flops over onto her all the time, even at a year old now.

Horrible introduction of cats but i’m glad it worked out ❤ Please don’t introduce new cats like this person did. Place them in separate rooms and allow them to get used to each others scent by occasionally swapping items the other has used. Over time you can allow them to see each other and it’s best if lots of treats are involved. !!

That was really good video bc they had to follow the cats around constantly in order to record the cats doing what they do. Painstaking editing and time consuming recording process. 30 days is pretty good! It can take a long time for cats to get used to one another, and they may never actually be snuggle buddies. Every orange boy I have ever known has been extra sweet though, and my current one is friends with everyone, even the big ol dogs.

I had an orange tabby I cried with so much emotion when he had to be put down I even got mad at the veterinarian because he came off as cold and calculating and yelled at him you have no idea the kind of love they are capable of not just receiving but giving he would hunt macho that was his name and bring his catch too me I googled it and it meant he was sharing his catch with me I fell in love with him all over again and since I've been afraid to have pets because I enjoy I love their company but it hurts like hell to lose them 🥺😥😥

I don't understand why people don't introduce their cats step by step over a longer period of time, then this doesnt happen and they're almost always best buddies without problems. I mean yes these ended up loving each other, but you don't know that from the start, it's always risky without proper introduction.

@Oh Boi Lien My thoughts exactly! I was stressed out even from watching it! I don't find it at all "cute" to force these two cats onto each other the way she did it. It's not recommended and could have ended badly traumatising one cat or both, resulting in bad behavior due to being stressed out all the time by the presence of a "stranger". This fortunate outcome was in no way guaranteed. She didn't provide a safe space for either of them; letting one cat harrass the other while pooping is just wrong! I am amazed these two turned out so well adjusted - or maybe we are simply not shown the negative results of this kind of unprofessional and unempathetic introduction... 😕
