Cats are always fun to look at and it might be also fun to look at them in slow motion. There might be allot of cat videos but there is never enough videos of cats in slow motion. For someone who wants to know this is Bengal cat and he loves to play around!

Cats aren't farsighted at all. I don't know where you got that from. They're short sighted, if we're going to compare them to apes or aves. A cat's central visual acuity is about 20/100 if you use the human scale. It's nothing to do with depth of focal length, and everything to do with the *planes in which they're focussing*. Small cats have slit pupils because they hunt on the ground in front of them. They're selective rodent and small mammal hunters - birds become part of their prey only after they first encounter one on the ground, mistaking it for another kind of rodent. It takes a lot of practise for cats to catch birds either on the wing or on takeoff, because those slit pupils give exceptional focal accuracy in the X and Y - the ground in front of them, but very poor focal ability in the Z. You can see how this works with the caracal - it's still a small cat, but has commensurately longer legs and routinely hunts birds. Its eyes have adapted for the need to be able to focus well in the Z plane too, and as a result have become round pupilled. You can further see how this works with goats, which have horizontal slit pupils because they need excellent X and Z plane vision for hillstanding, but less in the Y. That's why this little hunter is having difficulty catching the object as it's motion moves from XY in front of it's face to Z. Thats also why small cats routinely adjust their view upwards or downwards, but less side to side. You can see it in the opening frames. He moves his head in all three axes but his eyes are moving much more up and down than left to right. I think what you're expecting to see is him catch the body of the target. But that's not how cats hunt anyways. They preferentially aim for the base tail of rodents as opposed to the body because it means if they miss either side, they've either trapped it or hit the hindlegs and crippled it. You can see he's going for either the string, or the feathers, what look like tails.

When things in high visual velocity (as in how fast things are visually perceived, closer to the eyes means higher velocity perceived etc) approaches the face of a cat, or if whiskers are roughed/stimulated, the cat will quickly switch to whisker perception in a moment of flow, which essentially inhibits visual information processing in the cat in favor of processing tactile/whisker sensory information as visual. Cats can see in close range all fine, but their vision sort of shuts down if the whiskers are unexpectedly stimulated/bothered. So there you go.

The fastest cat I have every seen is a feral cat that I adopted. My other cats would see a mouse and play with it, but if the feral cat I called smoky was about, that mouse only had about 1 second of it's life to live.

My cousins cat had its eyes closed so I got very close and slowly and very lightly touched its head. As I drew back my hand, I noticed blood on it. The cats eyes were closed. Apparently, I was too small of a threat for the cat to open its eyes. At another time, that cat jumped straight up to an 8' high tree branch and came back down holding a bird. When my own cat was sufficiently grown to go outside, he let me know by running fully around my living room wall, half-way between floor and ceiling. All I saw was a black blur, not a cat.
