Hi I am bipolar 1 I was diagnosed at 25. I was in a mental hospital six month of my life. at 18 and 25. I spent a night in jail before because my aunt called the cops at me during a manic episode. I was severally bullied in high school which I think led to my bipolar disorder. I go to the gym I got my bachelors degree two years ago and now have a full time job. This story is inspiring.

@@Kapplerartbloomingdale I’ve got quite a few add ones to mine as well. Cptsd, anxiety, panic attack disorder,depression, attachment disorder. The good thing is that on these meds I feel SO much better now. You are so right our mental health system is a disaster. My therapist retired and I called probably 50 offices and got 3 calls back.

I was only diagnosed at 55. Amazing isn't it - you can live for so long with this without ever being diagnosed. I think there are a lot of 'functional bipolar' people out there. It would have been a much easier life if I knew what it was when i was 20!
@TheSapphireSprit

@@leonbeale5431 it blows my mind and when I think about things I’ve done in the past it’s so obvious. The impulsivity ( typically actually with a good outcome luckily), the frantic cleaning spells I went through. The low energy that would suddenly turn into an explosion of activity. I was very functional, just not very easy to predict or get along with.

Bipolar I am, fotu ately it is actually hyponia , no delusions, no nothing. I worked successfully but I have to take Effezor for depression and Pinral as a mood leveler. Valim additionaly helped a lot but I did not tell my psychiatrist for 20 years. Finally I confessed and I had to be treated for substance abuse. I quit Valium but I am not as happy as before.

You can't have bipolar 1 and 2 at the same time. Type 2 means you have hypomania (no psychosis); type 1 means that you have mania (which involves psychosis). You can't have both at the same time. They're, basically, different levels of severity. Although you can have bipolar disorder with "mixed features" (hypomania/mania and depression at the same time). It would be like trying to say that someone has hypertension (high blood pressure) and hypotension (low blood pressure) at the same time. You're either having mixed episodes, or you're lying. 🤔

They always use the term "stabilize" when referring to the medications when in reality they numb, blunt and sedate you. Apathy, indifference, and disconnection from life is deemed as "treatment" when they are actually just making you further and further unaware of the reasons behind your emotions in the first place. Further and further disconnected from your traumas. Further and further disconnected from your spirit and soul. What have we come to as a society? Labeling neurotoxic, psychoactive substances as "life saving." So, so sad.
@eltelle
@eltelle Жыл бұрын
Mmmmm nah, antipsychotic medication "quetiapine, olanzapine..." makes you numb, blunt and sedate for most people, while lithium and lamotrigine stabilize you while retaining the ability to feel emotions, for some people lithium doesn't work and makes you numb or problems with bloodwork , lithium worked for me after had tried quetiapine "i hated", lamotrigine "which worked for depression but gives me irritable bowel syndrome" , mirtazapine "worked for a while for depression, anxiety and anorexia". Its a biological thing not a choice, is very very upseting for someone with bipolar disorder to be labeled as "you are not tryng hard enough or not finding the cause for when winters comes you becomes lazy and abandon all your projects, works and couple. The only thing that can't be treated with medication is narcissism..... CHEERS
@lexworthington2
@lexworthington2 Жыл бұрын
@@eltelle I never labeled anyone as lazy. Biological factors can definitely play a role such as metabolic issues, neurotoxicity, etc. which is why it is important to address those problems. I believe healing yourself and learning from life’s struggles is better than psychoactive substance use because that way you are addressing the root cause and have a safe, long term solution. I have been given a large variety if psychiatric labels myself including BPD. Funny how I am the one labeled a “narcissist” when you are the one making false accusations. 🥂

It IS a disorder and there’s lots of us who suffer from it. Mania and hypomania aren’t found in attachment disorders. what is the definition of a dissorder and I get the entity thing but things are a little more complicated than a singularity sadly. okay think about what is put in foods, brain development, trauma, and then maybe factor in entities. okay you see you can't just pinpoint a dissorder and it's kinda annoying to just assume people can wish a problem away that took years to develop by simply doing one thing
