My favorite cat ever I named Cat Stevens. He and I took many trips from San Diego to the Bay Area in my 1977 Toyota Celica, what great times.

OMG. Having had a very poor upbringing in almost every category, Cat Stevens' beautiful creations established my link to hope when I all but nearly gave up, and hope was my link to better times. He delivered; in spades. To have shared his life in the way that you have must have been a blessing.

I might be wrong, but I see the world listening to these classic and the younger generation finding them for the first time. The reason is they are searching for songs that gives them reasoning and clues about the purposes and meaning in life. Something most new songs of today does not do.

Lifelong fan of Cat Stevens and I'm one year older than you. I listened to this album from beginning to end so many times that when the video ended I started singing Tea For The Tillerman simply through habit. When I was young I identified with the son, now I'm the father. Both sides are correct. You have to forge your own path but finding the right girl can lead to happiness.

I see my sons And their Mother in my Grandchildren and it fills me with purpose and focus. THIS is my Grandsons favorite song. As fate would have it i am also a singer songwriter. So THIS Christmas I will sing this for the family. Thank you Cat Stevens

What a hell of a combination love song and apology from a father who is haunted by not doing more in life with his growing child over the years. Haunting is indeed at the heart of it as I've been there.
@drtoboggan74693 жыл бұрын
I dont get "apology" at all. I get advice from a father. Then a excuse from a son. Just as fathers and sons are. And in the end the son has to go cause he's busy. And the father has to go in death.
@ModelTrainOutsider2 жыл бұрын
Misread of the lyrics, this is about a son telling his father he can't run the son's life. That the son is a man and needs to go his own way and not live to the father's goals, but his own. ""I know I have to go...") The father is unapolgetic, as is the son. This is a very autobiographical song, as Cat/Yusuf's father was a bit of a dictator.

My respect for cat Steven’s is off the charts. I remember when he was literally at the very top of music and he just waked away. It was always pretty clear he was searching for something. That he lived a simple life and opened a school to teach a much less radical form of Islam was unheard of in his day.
@dab.2 ай бұрын
Cat Stevens (Yusuf Islam) supported the Fatwa calling for the assassination of Salman Rushdie and stated (on TV) that he would like to witness Rushdie being burned alive. He denies it now of course, claiming it was "a joke" but the TV recording remains for all to see and if you watch it you will understand it was no joke.
@chriswilliams59822 ай бұрын
@@dab. that’s absolutely untrue. If he said that give us the link to your source. All he said was that the Koran said it, and he spoke openly against it. In all the anti Muslim backlash none of what he said got much coverage. His public statements were that he would never support a fatwaagainst anyone.
@dab.2 ай бұрын
@@chriswilliams5982YT does not allow external links but it was an Australian TV debate show called "Geoffrey Robertson's Hypotheticals". CS was asked if there was to be a burning of an effigy of Rushdie, would he (CS) attend? His reply was he preferred it would be the 'real thing' [meaning a live burning, not just an effigy]. Later, he claimed it was "dry British humour". I don't know if you're British, but this is not any humour I recognise and I resent the association. As I said, if you find and watch the show, you will see it was a serious debate and a serious reply to a serious question; not in any way a joke. Also, you can search Wikipedia for "Cat Stevens' comments about Salman Rushdie" to see his other statements. You will see that in no case does he make clear at the time of making the statement he is only talking about Muslim law, as opposed to personal belief. As I said, it is only after the fact that he later qualifies some of the statements, probably concerned about UK or US laws he may have broken. This is why he was later denied entry to the United States. Believe me, I was a huge fan and was shocked to see him become so radicalised and dogmatic. Sadly the later excuses are not genuine in my opinion, and I completely understand why Salman Rushdie does not accept them, particularly in view of what eventually happened to him.
@banksy502 ай бұрын
@@chriswilliams5982 It was an Australian TV debate show called "Geoffrey Robertson's Hypotheticals" You can look it up and see for yourself. "Robertson: You don't think that this man deserves to die?
