just be warned not all Cat hand tools are snap on only 5 socket sets are Snap on the rest are made by Jet and there impacts are the same manufacture as Tekton there screw drivers and a hand full of plyers and there ratchets from 1/4-1/2 inch are snap on the rest are jet and apex the tool kits are Apex and jet hammers are jet so you have to pay attention to what you buy ..the pictures they have on there web site are exactly what you getting so just pay attention ... and only 10-15% of the tools they sell are snap on tools.....but all there kit set are not snap on they are jet apex and Grey/ Dynamic Canada

Only 5 sets? How do you tell which are? I want the SO deeps for the shallow broaching. But if the ones I need aren’t SO chances are they’ll have the same deep broaching of a lot of other sockets.

@@A51Zombie1/4” and 3/8” chrome sockets in shallow and deep 6, 12pt, as well as the 3/8 and 1/2” shallow impacts, and deep 3/8” impact are snap on. Universal sockets too.

I checked the price for a CAT-branded 3/8" ratchet, part number 468-5748: 3/8" Drive Ratchet, picture shows chrome handle, and the specs are 11.5" length, does not say if it's locking. Price in my area is $232.82. Snap-on long flex head locking ratchet with comfort grip (more expensive than chrome handle) is $195, part number FHLX80B, length is 13". Seems a bit strange for CAT to price a 3/8" flex head chrome handle ratchet for way above a Snap-on ratchet.

You don't have to justify your purchases, not to anyone. It's your money, work, effort, and preferences. I also chose to support American workers/companies, where the majority of the money stays in America. I also chose to support countries that don't use slave labor or practicality slave workers like China. But that doesn't mean we need to support blindly, snap-on can clearly make affordable tools, and they shouldn't be squeezing the American worker like they do.

Cat tools are the older atyle ones too and non flank drive tok.abd have the same warranty too...

They have flank drive but they do tend to be one generation behind which actually is a good thing in many cases they are having the tried and true older styles rebranded I’m sure CAT is glad they won’t be getting those horrible new 100T snap on ratchets lol

Yes they are. I have the majority of my sockets from the local CAT dealer (but unlike a truck the dealer won't run an account).

I don't use that tool truck account much mostly I cash out or I use the RA account for a couple of weeks then pay off cause I feel weird owning the guy money I just don't like that. How ever if you want to finance your cat stuff just get a CAT Card.

Unless Snap-On comes out and says that they are exactly the same except for the name we may never know. You can take two sockets to a university and have them tested for hardness and chemical composition of the steel. They can run samples through a mass spectrometer to see if each socket uses the exact same steel.

There are essentially the same socket except the CAT branded sockets are only good for replacement in a period of 2 to 3 years. Snap On is lifetime warranty. So your not only paying for the name when you buy Snap On but your "buying" the warranty.

@@rvtechpro I checked the website, it is a 12 month warranty. I have never broken a chrome socket that didn’t abuse with an impact so it might not matter

@@rvtechpro I actually went out and bought a cat impact socket set and the salesman said when I picked them up that they do have a lifetime warranty. Got a 1/2 metric impacts socket set for $85, they look great! Thanks for the info!!!
