My guild spreads out a lot due to us having more ranged players than melee so LOD doesnt feel as useful. Any suggestions on healing for that scenario.

You should still be able to hit max targets on LOD in most fights if you angle it correctly. Getting people to stack better will dramatically increase your raids healing efficiency.

Great guide, completely changed the way i aproached healing as a holy paladin but one thing ill say is dont attempt this style until youve got some purples, tried it as a fresh 85 and my healing was just totally innefective/going oom constantly

You just have to be way more selective about when you radiance/DL when youre low gear. Focus more on holy power generation and spending.

10m is more like a 5man where you have to cast more and wog more but as long as you can hit 6 targets effectively with lod its still much better than wog. Id also run more points in tower if youre one tanking a lot in 10. Guide is mostly focused on 25m tho.

LOD is better imo, if youre glyphed for it, for the mana return, as well as if your beacon is on a tank (ideally), the conical heal will surge on the tank.

definitely feel like wog is getting a lot of mileage in my 10man. especially on spread fights or when the comp is melee/ranged light. LoD doesn't seem that worth it a lot of the time!

Best actual hpal guide from someone who plays at a high level. I have one question about hpal. When there are periods of no damage to very very low damage, I build up my holy power. But what do we do after that? Do we just sit tight and wait for damage or do we just heal the tiny tiny amount of damage anyways? You only fire light of dawn when there's two people getting below 90% right? And do you stagger avenging, divine favor, and guardian or do you cast them all at once for big aoe heals?

I usually sit at three if builders are on CD and wait for the tank to take a swing then insta LOD to heal it through beacon and then g o back to HS/CS. You also do get a tiny amount of value on mastery. For cds it depends on the fight length. E.X if its 5 minutes you want to line up DF and wings because you can only get two of each. if its 6:30 you want to get all three wings in. It also depends on the damage profile of the fight. You want to always use your cds on a part of the fight where you can effectively spam radiance for maximum throughput. I usually save GOAK as a second LOH type oh shit button on the tanks tbh.

Oh I see! Goak for a second loh. Roger! Btw, have you tried tower of radiance 3/3 so that flash of light can guarantee one holy power from the beacon target? I found it quite effective for LoD spam. But it's mana intensive for sure. What do you think? I found that I having another on demand way to generate one holy power too good to pass up. But you are more experienced so I wanted to ask you. @@somato2688 3/3 tower is useful for specific fights where theres focused tank healing. (nefarian add tank is aperfect example, also alakir phase one if youre doing the electrocute cheese). Outside of that though i wouldnt use it to generate, its just way too mana inefficient compared to CS/HS/radiance. Id also try to use DL over flash of light, its just way more mana efficient and casts just as fast if you use it with infusion procs.

Wowhead is terrible for cata imo. Hpal gets 70% of spirit regen in combat. There is zero chance I would prioritize any secondary above spirit, especially given how effective hpal is at translating mana into healing with divine light and radiance. Every point of extra mana you get from spirit is hps unless youre playing badly and not casting enough spells. If you need haste to do hps in your raid it generally means your healer count is too high.

Its not strictly mandatory but you lose otu on a LOT of mana regen fron seal of insight and efficiency from CS generating more LOD casts if you arent in melee.

Pretty similar the only thing is you might have to try a bit harder to get higher target count in your LOD and radiance, especially if youre ranged heavy comp. Youll also end up casting more heals and woging more just because of lower target count.

Tower of radiance is great if you are tank healing (Throne of the four winds for example). Not sure why you don't want to take free heals. Also with beacon glyph and swaping beacon for free you can generate even more heals.

If youre tank healing a lot youre playing wrong. Only exceptions are like nef add tank depending on your guillds strat and conclave. On nef if youre healing add tank you should go wog build. You have to swap beacon like 9 times in the fight for it to be competitive with LOH mana glyph in current gear a nd that glyph scales with gear, beacon does not. Similar math with CS glyph. On prog you never drop DP glyph. Plea glyph also scales with gear. Beacon glyph is just mathematically worse unless you swap beacon 15 times a fight in which case youre just playing wrong 99% of the time.

Not exactly, since it depends on strats and how your raid performs. Not every group plays highly stacked and LoD is not efficient in every situation. I'm responsible for healing tanks and don't care about the raid that much. LoH mana regen is random since you either keep it or use it randomly, sometimes with full mana depending on circumstances.

No. there is no scaling its just linear and additive per hp used. One HP LOD heals for 1/3 of 3 HP LOD, 2 heals for 2/3.

Wog is much stronger in 5mans where you wont always hit max targets with LOD. I would take the wog talent build into 5 mans and potentially use the LOD glyph which lowers its target cap. In raid LOD is almost ALWAYS better than wog.

@@snafu7433 He is correct, the healing hitbox is a rectangle. The visual doesn't match the hitbox. There are weakauras that show the hitbox if you want to test for yourself.
