You can avoid the hiss when you use an adapter of 18V!

it's worth the headroom

Damn...I just thought about simple, short demo videos the other day. Then this shows up in my feed.

Happy to have saved you a surprising amount of unrewarded effort.

I wish they put a big stepping/clicky mode control on it. Combined with small fonts, it's just a blind gamble on stage

Catalinbread have just sent me a Many Worlds to review for guitar.com and it has a nice clicky mode control. Lesson learned, I think.

It's fun to mess with this normally unwanted effect to see what sorts of interesting sounds you can get. Makes me think of the soundtrack of Forbidden Planet

Did you ever try switching the internal true bypass switch or adjusting the internal gain trimpot to see if it reduced noise?
@DickieDemos2 жыл бұрын
I did. The trimpot makes everything quieter, no change in signal/noise ratio. True bypass makes it nice and quiet when it's off! Anyway, it's not super-noisy, just a little bit annoying once you start to let it bother you.

The echorec is supposed to be a faithfull recreation. Other delays mentioned are just modern delays with vintage settings. Why they put that rotary menu knob instead of 'the four heads' is beyond me. The Strymon Volante, supermachine as it may be , sounds way to sterile imo. I'm waiting on the Catalinbread deluxe version... Wooosh---> outer space.

The Boonar seems to be the Echorec's most natural rival - with head buttons!

No hiss from my echorec. Maybe get it checked over by CB?

thanks for the video man, just to be clear, what are the problems you had with it?
@DickieDemos2 жыл бұрын
The annoying mode knob/switch is the main thing i don't like about the Echorec. And it's just a little bit more hissy than, for example, the Walrus D1.

Huh, I bought this pedal years ago and never made the Pompei connection on the pedal design. TIL.

Took me a few months to notice, if I'm honest. :)

This page is more like it, great settings getting the best out of an effect without the 20 mins of bullshit inbetween. Although the echrec could have done with a minute and a half😁ooh that was a minute and a half😂

Do you know if it's only your device or is this a common issue with those? Thanks!

I don't know, sorry. But it seems like not very smart design to me.

If you mean the mode selector 'missing' the setting, then yes that's normal. I agree, as a design it's annoying. Each setting should have had a click stop. Also annoying, and nobody mentions this, is that this pedal is quite noisy; both hissy and with a background whine. For a digital emulation, I think that's unnecessarily accurate. The 18v option is great. To my ears it's a small improvement in headroom (nothing else changes), but worth it if you can go 18v.

Too bad it doesn’t decay when turned off
@DickieDemos3 жыл бұрын
It can - there's an internal switch for true bypass or buffered with trails. I keep it in true mode because of that little bit of hiss.
