Hey that's me, I'm black in this game! How did you know, I've been subscribed since 2k followers! Always love your eternal optimism and in depth breakdowns 😊 I remember this game, because the complete lack of 3s and 11s essentially meant my 2nd settlement may as well have been on two desert tiles 😅

Hey Logan, really appreciate the support. I do my absolute best to stay in touch with those who are following and active in this channel. For some reason, I recognized your name. I really appreciate the kind words and you being here. Stay great and hope we get to play again soon! - DandyDrew

Fingers crossed, if I come across someone called GeorgiaPeaches, I'll suspect it's you haha Quick question. You said that my placements 'really opened up the board' at the start. What do you think would have been good alternatives to pick instead?

I paused the video and thought about what I would do as fourth and you picked exactly what I would have! I think it's a great set up. Unfortunate for those rolls though!

@@dandydrew you got it!! Gotta be the first time i have ever seen that. Three dice combinations never rolling, and all three combinations being on the same resource. Very, very odd game.

No 3s, 11s, or 12s. Brick was never produced by the dice.

Very rare to see that combination

Did you notice that only 1 trade went through the entire game? That's kind of wild... Btw, I think if black got some 3s early on, his game would have been really different.

wow what crazy dice. I like how even when you feel forced to play OWS, which is not your favorite, you still make it your own with the patented SBS™ setup. Well done as always, gg!

You should show your rank. That's an exciting part of the road to rank 1 that the viewers care about. We wanna watch the climb.

That’s a good point. This was one of the first games after placements but in future videos I will do my best to show the rank.

8/10 to 10/9 would be a viable 2nd settle in your placement ? Is it worst than 9/4/11
@dandydrew Жыл бұрын
I think the 8 10 to 10 9 has too many down sides in this position: 1. I immediately upset black my taking his only port and viable expansion 2. With only the 3 wheat, it’s VERY likely I lose army pacing to green in this position since they crush me on wheat 3. The lack of brick production makes getting 9 10 too slow 4. No real road network chances. Ultimately I would need to get 9 10 AND army to win this game and I don’t see either of those happening in a meaningful amount of time. 9411 allows me to have a real fight for army with the added benefit of being able to connect for road in certain situations. Sometimes it’s better to play it simple like we did.

Stop lying in the chat, dude: - "I have knights" when you have 1 knight and 1 vp - "Losing army to blue" when it wasn't clear that was the case at all - "green strong" ... not really. Bunch of useless wood.
@dandydrew Жыл бұрын
It was definitely a possibility to lose army to blue if he had a knight and I couldn’t get another knight. Also green does have a great position when you consider the production and flexibility. I understand the “I have knights” comment but that’s the nature of the beast… Sometimes it’s helpful to obscure the information on the table but your final 2 points are easy to say when you aren’t a player in the game and trying to understand the balance of the board. You might not like it but competitive catan isn’t so black and white sometimes. Reminds me of Bo Pang’s national finals when he said “I have army locked” trying to get the board to go after a different win-condition and he was being misleading. You can say he was “lying” and that’s wrong but strategically he made a move that gave him an advantage in the long-term. As a general rule, I don’t recommend lying too much as reputation can follow you but critical moments might call for it if you think it gives you a winning advantage. Welcome to Catan - DandyDrew
