Hi Dandy, long time viewer here. The part i love most about your videos is hearing your reasoning for your placement. I also think this is where us average catan players can improve the most. because of that i like stopping the video at the start and figure out on my own where i would place in your position. However, this is spoiled by you putting your placement in the thumbnail. Maybe you have to do this because the algorithm likes it but I (and maybe some others who want to become better) would appreciate if you let us figure it out on our own :) Much love!

Great video and great play as always! I think at 14:56 with your position I'd probably make it a top priority to connect and secure road from orange. I think as long as you connect for 8 points you are pretty much guaranteed to win, with many paths to 10 while no other player is even close to any win condition. Letting orange keep road made the game way closer than it had to be, in my opinion. I would agressively trade to get the connect at this point, maybe sheep + ore for wood and port for a brick. Even if I couldn't find the trade, I would drop one road to connect (instead of wood port) and wait for another opportunity.

Love your videos. I think I would have plowed orange to the 8/3 to optimize sheep and then limit his settle options. He would then be forced to go towards the same space that red and black are in, hurting all three of them in the process. But the sheep port at that moment was understandable, plus not tilting orange that badly that early 😂

I'd have done 8 4 3 and 9 10 2. 4 pips of ore and wheat , 5 pips of sheep, 3 pips of forest and 4 pips of brick to play alround game. and the plough as well.

Why do catan players feel the urge to write gg before the game actually ends? It feels kind of weird, like saying "I'm smart because I knew you're going to win."

No offense meant, it was a nice game and I enjoyed the video a lot. I've just seen these "gg" messages in a lot of other catan games too and decided to comment about it. Maybe I should have formulated the comment more like a question - why do the catan players say gg before the game actually ends? It might be considered bad manners in other games.

All good! Just giving you a hard time. Yeah, maybe it’s habitual for a lot of us but I’ve never see it used in a negative capacity or with bad intentions. If anything “GG” is used too much when maybe it was only a good game for the winner 😂 I’m used to it from using voice chat in discords where everyone is communicating on just about every play.

Some players also say gg just to put out there the possibility that a player is close to winning. It's a somewhat more subtle way of reminding other players that unless something changes (like a well timed robber or a mono) the game is over.

I'd say I'm learning 14 percent win rate in ranked. But my last 13 games 38.5 win rate and 38.5 for 2nd. Granted this is in low silver lobbies

Why not grab the 6 sheep wood port first with road settle in hand vs road road to 5-10? Free card every 6 and 10, substitues for the 5 wheat and doesn't let all that wood get stuck in your hand...
