The medical community wonders people go on the net rather than talking to their doctors. Well, here's why. The doctors rush you by while the net gives you detailed info. Well done, Dr. Wong.

If only I had seen and heard your video, pre and post op care, my stress would have been greatly decreased! My Dr. Rushed me through my first visit and was too busy writing to explain things face to face. I had to ask all the questions and again, I felt I inconvenienced him and left feeling stressed. Once I was being prepped on the table on the day of surgery, it was again a whorl wind of hands all over me and I was still trying to ask questions and wanted to see a few pictures of procedure so as to allay my fears. My answer was, “why didn’t you watch You Tube,”. Wish I was told that info BEFORE I saw Dr. For the first time!!!! The other thing is that senior folks like me aren’t all that savvy about the things you can find online. So glad I found your very informative video. Thank you. The more tools you can give to the pt. the better. Carol

Dr. Wong, I am forwarding your video to our Ophthalmologist who did my wife's cataract surgery this morning. I would recommend your video to every cataract patient prior to surgery. You told us many things to be aware of that were just glossed over by the team helping my wife. My guess is that they do so many surgeries each day that to them most of this is "obvious". Truth is, for most of us there is more than a little trepidation and mystery. Thank you.

Thank you for writing this, Nori. I'm blind of 1 eye Too. I had retina detachment in my left eye (when i was born). In my right eye I had it too, but we discovered earlier and I got laser surgery, a few times. So now I have cataract in my good eye. I have myopia in my good eye too (-11 😢). And I'm afraid of post op. There is more risk of retina detachment, but at the same time I have to do the surgery because cataract is advancing. Blurred vision, double vision, its sucks. 😢 it's difficult to read, even near my eye. My glasses don't serve anymore 😂 while I'm writing this comment, I see double vision. And I'm freaking out. My vision now 20/60, my normal is 20/40. Doctor said that lens could correct my myopia (less or none glasses). Seeing your comment e watching this video made me calm down.

This is one of the most extremely useful videos on youtube, thx. Every single opthalmologist should be required to show this video to their own patients, or make one similar that is at least as comprehensive. Also, they should be required to discuss the lens options in detail, their relative risks, benefits, and limitations, and the out of pocket costs. These are very substantial issues of great importance to people on fixed incomes and/or who rely on their vision professionally. Informed consent demands it, and every patient has the right to expect it from their surgeon. Again, many thx.

The first time I tried putting the shield on, it just didn't feel right and shifted when I lay down. If I could, I'd give a thousand thumbs up. My instructions, were to just use the shield when I sleep, for at least a week and wear my glasses or sunglasses during the day. I can't believe the difference the surgery made. I thank god I'm seeing much much better, But pre and post surgery I knew most of the questions which I asked were not answered properly or at all. I didn't know what to make of it. I am lucky to have gone somewhere that they spent a ton of time with me explaing everything, but I still wanted to watch this incase I missed something. I was putting the eye shield on wrong even if it did work, but this looks easier and way less tape than I was using. I am having my other eye done in two days. It is miraculous what they can do now. I was awake and chatting with the doctor the entire time he did it and I also had my astigmatism laser corrected with it. I never had to ask for the Twilight sleep though they did have it hooked up. It is that fast painless. This is a great video for those who didn't get such precise instruction or don't remember them all. However everything looked bright purple to me after. I had 20/25 when I went in the next day and he said it will get even better since I still have cornea swelling from the laser. Don't be afraid people. What a terrific video - thank you! I had my first eye done about five weeks ago; the second one will be done mid-January. I wish I had seen this video prior to my surgery, though my surgeon pretty much told me what you've shared. My doctor gave me a prescription for three different eye drops (prednisolone, vigamox and nevanac), which I had to take for a total of five weeks; having one bottle would have been preferable, and so much easier. I also had IV sedation for the procedure, so was out the whole time (which thrilled me). Because my eye was quite irritated, my doctor suggested using a humidifier, as well as gel drops, which I did, and helped tremendously. Because I have a very high prescription, I've been wearing a contact lens in my non-operated eye, to even things out, so to speak. A week ago, I developed conjuctivitis in that eye. I realized pretty quickly what it was, so started using the Vigamox and wore an eye patch at night. I was worried about it moving to the recently operated eye, but fortunately, it didn't. Eye is fine now. Loved this video. Rhonda

My 81 year old Mother gets her left eye cataract surgery tomorrow and there was no mention of PGB drops Pre-Op... The regiment for drops sounds like a task for elderly so I appreciate the details you covered.

Thank you, Dr. Wong, for your detailed information. You answered my question of how to put on the eye shield. I had put it on upside down. Again I thank you for thoroughly explaining the necessary after care.

Very good with the details of this surgery. I like my Dr. but was never explained the procedure this well. Received a lot of paper work and pamphlets. Thank you for your time to make this video.

Whew! Tomorrow I go in so they can measure my lens for a lens replacement at a later date. I get nauseous just thinking about something touching my eyes, but your thorough explanations has really put me more at ease. THANK YOU!

Outstanding video! My Ophthalmologists office is like an assembly line. I doubt that I’ll receive this level of instruction before surgery. Thank You for posting.

Dear Doctor, thank you for your help, advice and excellent clip. I had a cataract and IOL back in `86 and `87 here in Australia This was the early days when they would do the procedure 6 months apart. Unfortunately for me the left eye was a failure, as from it my vision is the same. However the right eye works well and the only drawback is that I have a daylight only drivers license. My biggest problem at that time for about two years was that at night my vision was like streaks when looking at a street light for example. I was 42 y/o then. Cheers, Alf.

I am having my left eye done this Thursday morning. I am very scared because I had a retinal detachment when I was very young. (over 40 years ago) and a few repairs since then. I am faithful with eye checkups and eye care. But still, cataract surgery frightens me because it seems like a mystery. Your video has helped me tremendously, especially about what to expect right after surgery. Thank you so much .

I am between surgeries on both eyes. This is the most helpful information I have received to date. I wish my surgeon used the 3 in 1 drops that you have. I have to administer 11 drops a day from 4 bottles. Thank you dearly.

THIS was super helpful! I appreciated your thoroughness and your care that shown through. You've given me confidence to go through with my refractive lens exchange surgery. Lots of doctors could learn a lot from your patience and thoroughness. Blessings
