Top water bass are my favorite! I cast as far I can to a weed bed, just pull the frog off the edge and work it so the frog looks like an easy meal, spending as much time as possible staying within 2' of the weed bed edge. You'll always get the aggressive bass but if you give a reluctant bass a little more time, he'll eat it too.

There’s something in the walking the dog action that is great at triggering predatory fish. A great & fun technique! 👍🏼🎣

I love frog fishing! I am trying to get better at pitching, bc I see a lot of fish caught pitching a jig or soft plastic.
@manifestgtr Жыл бұрын
You’ll get the hang of pitching quickly. It’s really not that difficult…it’s just a matter of learning the feel of a low trajectory and raising your rod tip for distance.

Frog'n is great! Shallow channels in the back of creeks, targets and shallow long points. Try the saddle between a point and an island if you have any.

the point about walking the frog in place, ive never actually heard, ive never caught a bass on a frog or any fish for that matter, (central jersey) im gonna try this technique, thanks brother.

Great video! Do you fish Greers Ferry Lake any? If so, with it being such a clear lake what do you advise on catching the big bass? Thanks!
@coltonn3222 жыл бұрын
If you wanna go very slow with the walking technique pop some slack in it but leave the slack until just before the frog glides to a complete stop then pop it again and leave the slack, that way It has maximum room to walk again. Hard to explain lol

Why do you use such strong braided line? (I'm asking in a humble and curious manner since I'm new to bass fishing)
@yangler9935 Жыл бұрын
Because when you fish with frogs, you're likely throwing them in heavily weeded areas. When the bass strike and you get that hook set, they will tend to dive down further into weeds, so you'll need a strong line to pull the bass out. Chances are, you'll also get a patch of grass along with the bass!

It’s funny how people think the pointy nose frog is designed for walking . In my experience a “popping” style frog actually walks in place a lot easier in my opinion.

It’s so strange about the “Frog Walk”, if you watch an actual Frog jump in the Water they usually move in a straight line. There is nothing like an explosion on a topwater Frog. I know you can always tell Tournament Anglers lol burning up that Lure back to the Boat lol great Video Guys. Stay safe
@blarfblarfson2 жыл бұрын
Maybe the walking motion makes it look injured or distressed. Or it could be imitating a bait fish with that motion. I have caught them on frogs just hopping them in a straight line as well as walking them.

I just watched your video and would like to point out something that most people do not mention but the camera shows it very clearly. Not trying to down the video . Ad you were unhooking and stating "right there in the front of his mouth" this is apparant on a few fish in this video. The reason thos is not a desirable hookset is that it shows that you may have been a little quick on the set. Let me explain. The hooksets shown will be ok in open water situations but heavy wood and pads this will lead to alot of lost fish after the initial set . Frontal hooks can and do sometimes protrude thru the mouth and this will hang up on pad stems. I fish only frogs all year in NW PA and have pad fields that look like the grass you show 2' high and some are 3' in dia. Any hook in the front will surely hang up leaving you with a pad stem and no fish which means you have to go unhook this mess because you are not going to rip it out with 65# or any greater strength line. No one seems to address this issue . I fish out of a Bonafide SS127 yac also . Please address this issue in one of your videos . Alot tougher than trying to catch a 4# er. . And you can forget the walk- the -dig idea you'll be lucky just to get the frog thru without having to rip and tear leaves off pads in doing so. Maybe no one addresses this because there's no glamor in this type of fishing but there a considerable bigger catches than 4*ers. Thanks for listening aka The Frogman🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸🇺🇲🇺🇲

Not sure if this will help, but I try to count one mississippi before setting the hook. I get a better hookup ratio than I did before giving two extra seconds

I'll try that but they don't even seem to latch on, they just hit it with their head to get rid of it. I do lots of drop shot fishing and cranks

FYI there has been some unfortunate scamming activity on your channel. I received a KZbin social notification that I was a potential winner and to contact them by texting some information to a number. After they claimed I was a winner, they would ship me prizes but that I would have to pay shipping. At this point I told them they were scammers and discontinued any further communication. So subscribers BEWARE!!!
