Unlike Naked and Afraid, ALONE, or Survivorman, there is no limit to the tools we are allowed to use. Living off just WILD foods is harder than you think!
In this episode we set live traps for nuisance and fur bearing mammals which are legal in Texas including possum, raccoon, rabbit, skunk, armadillo, feral hogs, javelina, badger, fox, porcupine, bobcat, coyote, gopher, ring tailed cat, soft shelled turtle, red eared slider, rattle snake, water snake.
We hunt FERAL hog too!
We fish for catfish, alligator gar, long nose gar and drum, crawfish, crawdads, or yabbies, ghost shrimp, bluegill, rio grande perch, armored catfish, flathead catfish, blue catfish, alligator, freshwater clams, leopard Frog.
All wild foods are on the menu!
We seek out wild edibles including prickly pear cactus pads or nopal, cactus fruit or tuna, wild onions, mulberries, wild grape, Texas persimmons, pecan and anacua, mulberry, tasajillo, turks cap, yucca pods, cats briar, oion, chili pequin, duck weed, ground cherries, desert hackberry.

I liked a lot about this video Chris... something you said inspired this comment... My friend "Chris the Walker" was on a rowing trip days from town he ran out of cooking oil his cast iron pan made that red orange rust colour but hay iron is "safe" right so he kepped using it ... he got really sick nausea, extreme exhaustion & didn't know why... he wanted to curl up in a ball & not move . but if he had he would have died. so he rowed 2 days to town even in his condition ... doctor said rust = excess iron, was the problem. so use stainless steel or don't run out of oil. your body sheds iron easily so he made a complete recovery. Just putting it out there . Jared

Loving this collaboration between 2 of my favorite KZbinrs! And I'm with you on that skunk meat, brother. Another of my favorites, Shawn Woods, did actually manage to ingest a bit of skunk that he trapped in his barn in one of his videos, but he also said the meat smelled just like the spray. Wonder if that's something in its body chemistry, or just cross-contamination of glands to meat during skinning?

Amazing. I’ve heard truckers refer to a load of hogs as Go Go dancers. I’ve seen inner tubes used to fish with. You throw the inner tube over a tree stump and tie your line to it and throw your bait out, let the Fish play against the stretch of the inner tube. I’ve heard a lot about the Trinity river, stripers and gar.
